Don't face enemy groups head on. Use Molotov's when you can, and don't lock on unless 100% necessary. The cane whip form is awesome at long range, you just have to keep your distance.

Whew, I've tried. That bridge gets to tight with the werewolves that I lose track of where I am in relation to everything else. I'm just the worst...

If you're still having trouble during the second phase, try
waiting on the little roof you can drop down to from upstairs. When he drops down, whack him a few times and run for the hills, repeat.

Is that the whole point of the music box?

I didnt even get it when I beat him so I wonder if the NPC will just vanish now :(

Just killed the fifth boss where should I go now? and does anybody know what is the effect exactly of the beast rune? I don't know what is beast transformation is it something like hollowing in DS or what?

Can anybody please help me with this?

Weapon stats don't actually change your damage to any significant degree at all, at least not until perhaps much much later in the game when you get weapons that aren't C or D rank for stat influence. With stuff at C rank you're getting like +1 damage per stat point in a weapon stat. Doesn't matter at all compared to leveling up the weapon with shards.
Upgrading weapons improves their scaling, which means early game your stats don't matter as much in STR/Skill but if you neglect them your damage will not be great later on when you upgrade your weapon.

Spoiler tagged but read if you want.

Go back to where you killed father g at some point, there should be an aggressive hunter there. If he kills you and you go back he's fighting that hunter you're talking about. You can help him(her?)

Thanks. Sounds like a story quest progression. Will check out later.

anyone screwed around with the chalice dungeons yet? i just got my 1st one and looked around a bit before popping out. seems like a good place to farm vials.

Four regions down and there don't appear to be any builds. Feels extremely narrow compared to the Souls games.

Stat-wise you just pump vit and end and meet the str+sk requirements for whatever weapon you want to use, since there are no alternate ways of playing that I can discern (like being a mage or archer or whatever).

There also has been no itemization progression however many (20?) hours in I am. Basically you just upgrade your preferred trick weapon to the max + level currently allowable with shards (the shard type changes as you get farther in), and pick whatever costume you like the look of (all come with major tradeoffs in stats, no clear advantage) or stick to the default hunter gear for good balanced stats, which is kind of like Demons Souls in that regard.

That's about it. The only cool things to find so far are consumables and blood gem weapon modifiers (which are pretty minor in terms of effects), and I guess emblems which unlock new things to buy at the shop, but most of the emblems are meant to be found.

When they said it had less rpg aspects they weren't lying. I'm still loving the game but variation is all but gone. I'm gonna go fashionSouls because fuck the police the armors don't vary enough to be worth it. Once I hit soft level caps for strength and dex I'll probably start pumping a lot into vitality and endurance.

Apparently, all of the specters are running up the stairs and jumping to their deaths. Not sure how. I've fallen from way higher heights and have lived.

Yes you can die. I've done it. The amount of damage you take is pretty small. You just have to keep jumping over and over till you die.

No. I don't use guns.

I typically stay in 2H mode. I do the same in the other souls games, was never one to use a shield or parry.

I was the same with other souls games, but getting a parry with the gun is really smooth. Now that I have that Ludwig sword I get what you're saying though, haha.

5th boss had me shaking at the start

Tips on the 5th boss, if you're having any issues:

The Witches!
-Killing the monsters she spawns is a waste of time. She only spawned a max of three for me and they are really easy to dodge. Focus on finding the witch and getting as many hits in as you can.
-The monsters she does spawn are easily parried. They swing wildly many times so there are lots of openings.
-Realize you have a lot of room to maneuver around in, and take advantage of the stairs if you can.
-Watch for the glowing red light, as soon as you see it head over and start wailing away
-Be careful, the witches DO attack back, and they have a really nasty and disgusting grab that I can't even describe in words. Watch out for it!
-You have to kill both of them within a short time frame, or else one will respawn the other. This fight is peanuts compared to Throne Watcher/Defender from DS2.

Wow that's a lot cooler. And the guy that killed me is the first fatty.

This is my first proper time playing. I have 4 hours to play.

edit: Yup, he has them. Any tips for taking down these dudes? He's one shot me a couple of times. Once he chocked me out lol.

The best way to kill the fatties in the first area is to "parry" them with your gun (shoot them just as they are about to hit you) and then you can instakill them (except the first, I think you might have to parry him more than once).

Also, be aware that your blood will not allways be consumed by the enemy that killed you. Sometimes it can be another one that's in the same area

I'm at work and have been thinking about this game all day long. Glad to say that so far it's meeting my expectations, was a little worried that it was going to be Dark Souls lite, but I like the aesthetic and the combat is much smoother than Dark Souls. I've gotten through the first five bosses so far, hoping to knock out a couple more this evening when I get home.

Yeah, turning more negative as I go. In some ways BB seems to be masquerading as a Souls game at first glance while actually attempting to be a straight action game? That's fine in theory, but as a straight action game it has huge technical issues, like significant framerate variability and frame lag in a game that has an emphasis on parry timing. With variable lag, plus long startup animations, and unclear parry windows for each enemy attack animation on top of that, I have not gotten a feel for parrying at all, unlike any proper action games that involves parrying (like Revengeance or DMC3 or whatever).

I think people need to stop thinking of Bloodborne as a souls game.

It's as much of an action game as Wind Waker is an action game and by that I mean it has more satisfying combat and a certain amount of mastery to it but it's still a ARPG and not a beat'um up/hack' n' slash like the games listed above. It sucks if you were mislead by saying that it's more action oriented because it's not but it does reward a more aggressive play style that DS did not.

Super late game help please
I normally wouldn't ask, but I'm terrified this will send me into new game plus.

Killed Wet Nurse, went back to the dream, it's on fire, and now Gerhman/wheelchair grampa wants to kill me and awaken me. This seems really anticlimatic for the end of the game, but just in case, does this put you into new game plus? I can also refuse, but I pressed circle and just canceled out, not sure if choosing refuse would be different. Feel free to answer here or PM

Playing with the whip makes it feel like that future 3D version of SOTN I had in my head as a kid.

woah major downer reading evilore, apart from the load times thought game looked really impressive

I knew there werent many weapons (ENB called each weapon as deep as a set of weapons in DS) but same weapon throughout sounds bad.

ENB did mention that magic occurs late in the game, and also that arcane modifier affects item like molitovs damage (ie items can damage scale now)

I will be fine with fewer total weapons. Still seems to be a good mix of movesets, but there had better be tons of armor sets. That is a huge aspect of the game. Sure, BB is trying to be different and its own thing, but so far there are a lot of missing "staples" of the series.

Where do you upgrade your weapons at? I can't seem to find the place now.

Inside the church in Hunter's Dream there is a desk that you can interact with (right in front of the guy with the wheelchair). That's where you upgrade and repair your weapons

I haven't been mislead and I don't think of it as a souls game. I think it's becoming apparent that it's much worse than a souls game, though.

lol I've killed like 6 bosses and never run into that boss. I think I'm doing something wrong.

Whaaaa? I killed
them right after Vicar Amelia, going right from the chapel into the forest channel lane or whatever. Of course it's a FROM game...now I'm wondering which boss I missed (don't tell me :P)

I'm so bad at this game... I was never super great at the previous Souls games, but when I can't beat the first boss after many attempts, something is wrong. To be fair, I am more of a shield user in Souls, so this is taking some getting used to. It doesn't help that the camera is absolute shit on that first boss which has led to me dying at least a few times itself.

I think the criticism is a bit on the harsh side. The game has plenty of variety in just one weapon.

I do miss fashion souls but just like the original Demons Souls there is probably mountains of stuff that we have missed. My first playthough of Demons I think I only discovered less than half of the available armor and weapons

plue quality over quantity. I imagine we are still missing a significant portion of content at this point though

As a 'long time' souls fan I preordered the game on Amazon.de a while back and was sure to recive the game today (today is releaseday in my country), I actually was even looking forward to it. So I came home after work at 6 p.m. and found out that my copy did not arrive, well I thought then I'll buy it at my local Media Markt. So after dinner I drove there only to find out that Bloodborne is, to my suprise, sold out. WTF?! I thought to myself, went home and bought the game digitaly on the PSN store... and now my PS4 is downloading the game at turtle speed. 5,04gb approximately in 7h and rising (I am on a 100mit connection btw).

The game did not even start and it already broke me.... best souls game ever 11/10.

edit: now it's 9h *sigh* lucky me.

I won't tell you. But I think I went in a different direction and skipped some stuff that I'll have to go back to. So you're probably doing it in the right order.

I have hopes it may still be a good game for what it is. However, I may be jumping on the Dark Souls 3 hype train before long.

My NG+ run so far is cool. So much blood everywhere and every enemy can kill you fast. Enemies tank a lot more and.... Many people suddenly have magic. I don't know if it's because I have 84 Insight points, but suddenly many enemies can cast magic attacks.

I also learned a few things:

I can use a claw to transform my weapon to a beast arm
I can also use the "magic" that some enemies/bosses use

I just saw one of the missing areas that I didn't visit in my initial playthrough. The boss was cool, but quiet easy (the enemies were harder). But I got a Katana finally. :D

With that speed I will every Charlice this afternoon/tomorrow and will finish everything else. After that new character and PVP invading. :)

I don't know the answer but... why not upload your save now to the psn storage. Turn off auto update for bloodborne. Then do one thing and if you don't like results, redownload the file from the cloud and do the other choice?

Still seems to be up in the air. My theory is that you both need to be in the same Chalice dungeon, and then ring your bells. So one player creates a dungeon and shares it, the other searches and joins, and then you both play coop. I don't think you can do it with randoms.

Yeah, this worked. Huzzah.
