bloodstains don't work the same as they do in Souls games.

Sometimes an enemy near where you died (or who killed you) will have your bloods. You need to kill them to retrieve.

You can tell by their glowing eyes.

Wow that's a lot cooler. And the guy that killed me is the first fatty.

This is my first proper time playing. I have 4 hours to play.

edit: Yup, he has them. Any tips for taking down these dudes? He's one shot me a couple of times. Once he chocked me out lol.

This game is so brutal, and I'm awful at it. The camera is giving me a lot of problems, unfortunately, and having the blunderbuss and the cane leave me without any effective long range attacks.

I've played a couple hours today, and I can't make it past the two werewolves (and I rarely make it that far). I didn't spoiler tag that because it's literally so early in the game that it's embarrassing. Going to have to step away a bit.

are you guys dying alot in your playthroughs...it seems like i died alot in the beginning but not as much now.

Yeah I died a ridiculous amount of times in the first area, but I just finished the F
orbidden Forest
and died three times, one of which was to the S
hadow
of Y
harnam

In the options, this game has a option for VIBRATION for the controller, but in the game I have not felt my controller rumble even once. Can anyone confirm of this is working?

Don't face enemy groups head on. Use Molotov's when you can, and don't lock on unless 100% necessary. The cane whip form is awesome at long range, you just have to keep your distance.

Yeah, that's what I'm trying. It seems sometimes I can stop it, but other times I can't. I'll just keep trying.

There is a secret path in the Cathedral that gives you access to "Mist of Numbing" that you can throw at her to make her stop. It's up on a roof somewhere, I can't remember exactly.

Sounds like you are pretty disappointed so far, based on most of your posts. Or am I reading into it wrong?

Yeah, turning more negative as I go. In some ways BB seems to be masquerading as a Souls game at first glance while actually attempting to be a straight action game? That's fine in theory, but as a straight action game it has huge technical issues, like significant framerate variability and frame lag in a game that has an emphasis on parry timing. With variable lag, plus long startup animations, and unclear parry windows for each enemy attack animation on top of that, I have not gotten a feel for parrying at all, unlike any proper action games that involves parrying (like Revengeance or DMC3 or whatever).

Four regions down and there don't appear to be any builds. Feels extremely narrow compared to the Souls games.

Stat-wise you just pump vit and end and meet the str+sk requirements for whatever weapon you want to use, since there are no alternate ways of playing that I can discern (like being a mage or archer or whatever).
Well that's one way to do it but I'm doing it different. I pump everything in STR and END which is more of a glasscannon build as your approach. Different builds are definitely possible.

where do i go next? theres this one area which i know i can progress in but it has really, really hard enemies which makes me think that i shouldn't continue there. i've explored every single teleport point and dont know where else to go

holy shit. so i could get BSB down since he goes ham in the last phase, so i went and killed the (second tombstone teleport thing spoilers)
the witch of harwick. such a great boss fight, killed the first one and then the second boss bar appears

Just beat the first boss on my first try. I love these games and cant wait to dig in more. I choose Saw/pistol and I find I am not using the pistol much at all. I basically step back or dive instead of using the shield as we would in other souls games. The atmosphere in the game is incredible. My only 2 issues so far are framerate and camera. Camera issues are avoided by not locking on, but I almost always lock on to bosses in these games...

Personally, I'm liking this more than DS. The combat is more suited to my playstyle (I never used shields in DS2 and late game DS), and the combat, setting, and atmosphere are fantastic.

As for gearing up: sure, there's less variety, but I like the weapons more. I usually stuck with one weapon per character in previous games, so it's not gonna bug me. I have yet to see where runes/gems are going to take my build.

I can see myself making multiple characters, especially once I realize I should have invested in arcane or bloodtinge late game (maybe).

Damn. The new set isn't as good as the one you can buy early in the game. :/

All armor is used for specific scenarios. Th initial Hunter gear is always going to be the best for physical protection. Other sets are used for bolt, arcane, etc protection.

I love doing a Kirkhammer R2 charge attack letting them walk right into it. They are like the easiest enemies to kill now, and you get 2 vials.

Why don't people just counter them? So badass just standing still and popping them in the face and then instant killing them.

3rd or 4th boss....
vicar amelia, how the hell do I stop her from healing?

There’s 6 Numbing Mists you can pick up in the area before the boss, I believe they’re on a body atop a tower. Throw one of those onto her while she’s healing and it will prevent her from getting any health back.

When you hit a wall patience and strategy is a must.

Items go a long way here. Use pebbles to draw one werewolf at a time so you can focus on killing it.

Bait attacks (most werewolve attacks shoot forward at you so sidestep and counter) and punish

The other option is avoidance of tough enemies all together and many are skippable

So, I chatted with an NPC hunter just before/above the sewer. Haven't seen them again. Are they a summon?

Spoiler tagged but read if you want.

Go back to where you killed father g at some point, there should be an aggressive hunter there. If he kills you and you go back he's fighting that hunter you're talking about. You can help him(her?)

So Father G

In his beast form, the music box seems to be potent once? Ive tried to use it afterward but it's not working
If you're still having trouble during the second phase, try
waiting on the little roof you can drop down to from upstairs. When he drops down, whack him a few times and run for the hills, repeat.

Weapon stats don't actually change your damage to any significant degree at all, at least not until perhaps much much later in the game when you get weapons that aren't C or D rank for stat influence. With stuff at C rank you're getting like +1 damage per stat point in a weapon stat. Doesn't matter at all compared to leveling up the weapon with shards.

There is no effective long range attack.

Did you get the Ludwig gun too? It seems like it's pretty much the same as the Blunderbuss, but it starts with worse scaling.

No. I don't use guns.

I typically stay in 2H mode. I do the same in the other souls games, was never one to use a shield or parry.
