I'm wondering whether I should kill a not-hostile person or try to interact somehow else. Namely, in the clinic:

Does the woman in white (Iosefka?) who's laughing crazily at the exam table drop anything good?

In the area with the two giants roaming at the Catherdral, after you open the door with an item that costs 10k echoes. Go left. One of the giants should be immobile blocking another path. Go down that path until you reach a door. Talk to the guy behind the door and give him the password you should have after beating Vicar. Boom. New area!

Found it! Thank you.

Really a NG+ question.
Is it possible to get
the magic homing souls type attack the npc hunter uses? It would be weird to not be able to do what npc hunters are able to do to you. No one online got any info on covenants yet either?

How long did you wait? When you use the bell, you'll notice a little icon of a bell up next to your name. That means it's constantly ringing, you just have to wait. If nobody's joining you it's because nobody else is ringing there bell near where you're standing. Generally you're more likely to get help if you do it right outside of a Nightmare Fog door. Anyway, just keep the bell up.

After about 20 minutes someone connected.

Is the online region locked? I thought Canada and US were one region but if they're separated that might explain why I'm having trouble getting people.

They are random when you are online i think most of them at the beginning have
three layers each with a boss. At the last one you get a higher tier of the chalice which is harder and gets certain modifiers. They have unique bosses and special loot as payoffs in the latter stages. I have yet to see the full extent of these but they made them much more difficult than the main game bosses
.
Interesting, thanks.

Might put these dungeons on a hold for now to focus on the story. I actually got a pretty cool gem from one of the bosses though

Amazon US just shipped my CE copy that I preordered on the 19th and was subsequently delayed until April 23rd.

Soooo. Hope I'm not alone. Whoo

Is
Nightmare or Forbidden forest?
the name of the zone? If so, no.

They are two separate areas.
You get to the Forbidden Forest by going to the guy who wants a password to let you in the door in the chapel district. You get the password after killing Amelia. He's to the left of the big plaza with the giants I think.

You get to
the Nightmare place by getting grabbed by a thing. It can be found in the first area right out the front door after the first chapel lamp. Go to the railing on the right and some effect should be thrown at you. Stand in it. Same thing can be found at the end of the right path before Amelia's door.

The game has finally clicked for me!

When Project Beast was leaked, I got Demon's Souls for cheap to check out the gameplay on a borrowed PS3. Loved the normal gameplay in the several hours I played of it but never really got good at bosses or anything (would basically speedrun 1-2 to Tower Knight, clear the normal enemies, then get smashed, repeat)

Started playing yesterday and had no real issues with clearing areas/progressing (besides occasionally getting lost) but once I got to Father G (and later CB), I'd do ok but keep getting owned. As time progressed I'd do worse and worse, then try rushing to get back to the boss and get killed in stupid ways by standard enemies.... Was a bit annoying but it's to be expected from a game that requires patience and full awareness

Today though! After a few tries, I cleared CB, levelled up, went directly to Father G and cleared him on my first try!
(no "music box" like I've seen mentioned in this thread, first time encountering his transformation as well)
That sense of achievement tho!

Looking forward to all confidence in my abilities being decimated by whatever comes next

Took out the fourth boss last night, came out to
a time of day change to night
. Pretty cool little detail.

Vicar Amelia
was giving me a ton of trouble until i stopped trying to attack from the side and just went straight for her head. Made it a lot easier to track her movements.

This game is very good, BTW.

This game makes me cry....its fcking hard.

Two question
1. Can you counter the first boss? If so how do you know you did it right?
2. Should I use the (souls like things) to get more blood echos, so I can spend it on upgrades?

I got almost every of these spells except the homing one. I am in the
Blood Vial
Convenant which is located at Cainhurst Castle. Nothing else so far.

Repost: Isn't father casgoine supposed to be on the bridge before the cleric beast to help with the 2 werewolves? Because he is nowhere to be found for me... Am i missing something because he is not there? Some chatter or item?

Also I just beat cleric beast on first attempt! Did use alot of vials tho.

You can stagger and riposte him but I can't pull it off consistently. Best I can tell you need to be pretty close to him and hit him in the head/face (which means aiming from the front)

Omw home....time to find my elgato again. Its a real pain trying to interact with twitch users with that fucking delay. Hitbox here I come!

Also going to restart with the axe....cane was beast with that range though.

Just finished the first boss. Is it me or is the beginning waaaaay easier than the other Soul games? I've had way more trouble with those games the beginning. I'm blazing through most nemies without too much problem. Had the boss on second try.

Still loving the game. The atmosphere is really good and the game is fun.

Keep trying to coop, I think. Can take a long time and you may want to initiate it from different spots, like outside the boss door or at the area lantern. Also may want to expand the network settings to worldwide.

I tried summoning again and got nobody, so I just nutted up and tried using no lock-on like someone said. That made the difference. Was able to combo better, still had to lock on sometimes but that helped a lot. Kicked his ass right then and there. lol

What is the best Skill based weapon in the game? Just got the
Blades of Mercy
and don't know how the fuck to use it or why it does so little damage

I still can't get the hang of the pistol stun on bigger enemies. Am I supposed to shoot right when they wind up, at the peak of winding up, or when they swing at me?

How the fuck do you kill boss 3? He fucking pins me to the ground and one shots me.

Way I beat him is
to use the pistol to parry in the first half of the fight. He comes more slowly and does attacks that are easier to time the parries on. Then in the second half once he gets enraged and faster, pepper him with oil and Molotovs.
It's fucking tough even with that strategy, but it's how I did it.
