You get 1 for entering a boss arena. 2 or 3 for killing them. There are also consumable items to gain 1 Insight, cant remember the name. Found 2 in the sewer area. That was enough to get me to 10 after beating 2nd Boss.

Yeah I got it down now. Didn't know what I was doing and was summoning people then logging out cause I thought the game was glitching. Wasted a good amount like this.
Thought I was safe cause I'm a vet but I'm going to have to read the op's tips a little. Thanks everyone.

I feel like I'm constantly going the wrong way, but I'm moving forward so it's kind of cool. I'm 2 bosses down, and am being machine gunned down literally lol.

Is the correct order cleric beast into father guaciardi or whatever his name is. I got more Souls for killing the cleric beast which makes me think I went in the wrong order.

Also I started off as the noble highborn which I think definitely made the beginning harder.

Where do I go after killing the third boss? The area you fight that boss in is a dead end like the Cleric Beast. And I can't find any other place in
Old Yarnam
I can access atm

How many of you had difficulties equipping the first weapons so you hand combatted the first dude?

Raise your hand.

o/

guys please for the love of god tell me there's a closer shortcut to
Blood Starved Beast
that doesn't require me to do all of that traveling and fight the second
hunter
I ignored. I already opened one shortcut but that was WAAAAAAAAAAAAY the fuck back. They can't seriously expect you to take this fucking trek each time to the boss battle do they? There has to be a closer one right? Please?

The were wolf that busts through a door
Go through there for shortcut

I'm stressing so much about whether to focus on strength or skill every time I level. I've been using the cane so I want higher skill, but don't want to screw myself if I find/buy a great strength based weapon later on.

I'm so bad with committing to min/maxing in any game. :(

Happened to me online just now. I went through a fog door and the framerate tanked hard. I thought my game was gonna crash.

yes it's really weird, had no problem before but at the bosses at
forbidden grave
and
byrgenwyr
it happens constantly. Don't want my PS4 to die Oo

I'm trying to level, and both Skill and Endurance raise my physical defense. Endurance also raises Stamina and Poison RES. What else is there to Skill that isn't showing here? Am I supposed to be able to swing my weapon faster? I just wish I saw in numbers what it does.

I'm using the saw cleaver by the way and just beat the cleric beast.

Weapons will scale with certain stats. Look at a weapon and it'll have a Grade scale for each stat in it's description. So if you have a high skill you'll most likely want to find a weapon that scales good with it.

Holy shit the four snipers grouped near the entrance to the
forest.
They have barely any health, but they just demolish me if I get close.

I don't think I've seen anyone mention this: I love how you get more and more blood-spattered as you fight enemies. Really emphasizes the brutality of the world.

Jesus christ, over 300 pages already...is this the fastest OT so far? I don't think I've seen one move this quickly.

Might also have something to do with the fact that the players have a ton of questions for all the purpousefully unclear elements.

That is fine and all, but there is also something to be said for doing a blind playhrough. Efficiency is for the 2nd playthrough.

Totally, but there's no shame whatsoever in re-rolling and starting over if you have hamstrung yourself by having a poor start. Often its surprisingly quick to get back to where you were when you're properly orientated to what needs to be done.

If I've learned anything from the previous Souls' titles its that no amount of grit and determination is an adequate substitute for having a sound strategy. If you're only a couple of bosses in and are finding the going tough, I'd say at least trying a do-over with a different build and approach is worth a shot.

I bailed on my first char in Dark Souls 2 at No Man's Wharf after accidentally killing Gavlan, factoring in all I'd learned my second run went much more smoothly and gave me a solid platform from which to platinum the game. The key thing is that it forced me out of the "comfort zone" I'd created for myself with hundreds of hours put in in Demon's and Dark 1, so it was still a learning process for a long time. I fully expect Bloodborne to be the same.

Thread is moving so fast lol

OK poll for fans of Souls:

Flasks or Blood vials?
Which game has better RPG elements (I notice BB is more streamlined)?
Anyone miss magic?
PvP more enjoyable in BB or DeS/DaS?
Miss weapons in Souls games, or do you like transformation weapons?

I had one PvP fight, it was fun, but healing is so very quick that you need to be in their face constantly.

a) Vials, I like how quick it is to heal, and don't really have an issue with farming them - quick to get later on imo.

b) Souls in this regard.

c) No, the
arcane skills more than make up for this

d) Haven't done much PvP in BB yet.

e) I like BB's system, way less useless items, and more unique movesets.

I do not know who
Henryk
is but man I love his set haha. Thanks breh. Pretty sure he was the guy with
Djura in Old Yharnam though

Pretty damn lost after killing
The Witch of Hemwick. I'm exploring though. Fuck this game is soooo good.

FINALLY got my CE in the mail today. Installing and downloading the day one patch and am going to play until my eyes, my ears or my fingers bleed.

The steelbook is real nice but I'm going to have to hold off my temptation to look at the artbook for fear of spoilers.

Really early game-mechanics spoilers

FWIW, I met (as in "fought and got killed by") the 2nd boss,
Father Gascoine
, without ever seeing the 1st one,
Cleric Beast
.

It still unlocked
the Doll for levelling up
in the hub area

Anyone else using the T
onitrus
? This thing is cool as hell but has pretty low durability and it's a little annoying to
mash L1 constantly to keep the lightning buff
. Really debating bringing arcane up a few levels now vs just leveling STR. I kinda wish I picked an origin min/maxed to str because I probably wont invest in skill, but oh well. First playthrough won't be that efficient!

That's cause the doll activates when you get an insight.

do NOT fuck with my transformed Hunter Axe charged R2 Cleric Beast you cunt!

its
raining blood
. 6th try, thats...ok I guess

thread moving too fast uughgh

I think so and it really sucks.
why would you think so.

when someone tries to co-op there is a chance that Chime Maiden appears. if she does, you should get invaded. it's not like the game asks "hey you, wanna be invaded?"

I'll try to see if it works when I finish the game and get mah weapon, hopefully that "there is a chance" doesn't mean that pvp doesn't work most of the time or that it takes forever to invade.

I cheesed it up to (8th, 9th boss spoilers?)
The One Reborn
.

I didn't even find the shortcuts. I hated that area. It didn't help that there were
3 hunters in a room that I couldn't fight on my own at all.
