Same for me and all the Souls game really...I love them but at one point I must admit defeat,I just cant do it...I will push as far as I can in this one but doesnt look any different...the only Boss I met so far killed me in like 30 seconds lol,I am level 16...I think its the first Boss anyway....

Same here played a ton last night and today just not clicking with me and I can't continue to grind etc. Maybe I'll come back to it though just need some time away from it and I'll want to jump back in.

Finished the first Chalice Dungeon solo, it was fairly easy. Spoiled a bunch of bosses, though, at least I'll know how to beat them when I get to them in the real game...

This game is much harder than I expected. I think I'm playing it too much like Dark Souls. Yesterday I literally broke my weapon before I even got to the first boss. I had to suicide run and farm just to level up enough to make it to the first boss. There really should have been a lantern right before the two wolves. 6 1/2 hours in and I'm just at the second boss. :(

Are you finding the shortcuts back to the lantern? That really helps to keep the backtracking down.

^^^
Shortcuts are key. I'm really enjoying the level design.
do NOT fuck with my transformed Hunter Axe charged R2 Cleric Beast you cunt!

its
raining blood
. 6th try, thats...ok I guess
That part was pretty sweet.
For some reason I heard Slayer playing really loudly in my headphones and my character was running around Devil May Cry style killing everything.
I preordered the CE on March 10th and Amazon said they couldn't give me an estimate on when they'll have the game ready to ship, but they're "working hard on it." They gave me $5 of credit for the inconvenience. Maybe I'll buy some Jelly Beans and wait it out.
That's stinks. Amazon has rarely let me down and when they do they shower apologies on me. $5 is a bit low.

Should I consume (souls like things) to get more blood echos or save them?

I always save them for a time when I'm just shy of having enough echoes to level up up. Or if you want to buy some items then use them

Either way you keep them when you die so don't consume them until you're ready to spend the echoes they give you

OH SHIT

fucking lol... forgot to get my souls while killing the boss (from my previous deaths). just noticed there was a blood stain on the floor next to the lantern (after going back to the dream to level). I guess I forgot to pick them up as in entered the fog...meaning if I hadnt killed him that try I would have just lost 10k echoes...so fucking lucky hah. I did think my 4k after killing him was low

well at least I can buy the hammer now :P

So if it's not too soon to ask, how do you guys rank this game against the Souls games?

Not too far enough for me to judge, but Im very conflicted deciding if DeS was better than DaS, and now Bloodborne is added into the mix. Never played DeSII yet.

I really love how different they all are.

So does this whole game feel like your always in The Depths, Blighttown, VOD etc. I like the fantasy aspect of the Souls games. Is this pure grisly, grimy horror??

What's up with this
giant invisible monster or whatever that's randomly picked me up and given me frenzy in two places?

That was a little ???. I didn't know what it was and my health dropped 2/4.

I assumed it was outside the path and then I assumed it was a giant creature. I don't even know because I haven't seen it again.

Thanks for the heads up.
I finished the first layer's boss and waited to do more.

Beat Amelia. Where do I go from here? The
forest or something? I remember walking through a cave at one point and seeing trees, but then turning around. Not sure how to find that cave again.

I did, but not before I broke my weapon. Lucky I was able to activate the doll to level up by doing a suicide run into the church or whatever it was. I feel so pathetic for having to suicide run to make progress.

Is it a bug that blood echoes disappear from the ground when I turn off my console and come back later? This wasn't the case with the souls case

Load times are not an issue for me at all. They are honestly not even that bad. Does anyone think the atmosphere and production values are similar to Resi4? obviously different genre, but it just reminds of the first time I played Resi4 and was blown away by how good the atmosphere and production values are.

Also.....best enemy and sound design ever.

question!

are drops gone and replaced with store items? I notice that after killing the first boss, I got a item and now the store in the hunters dream sells new stuff (incouding the sword/hammer thing which I need bad), is that how Bloodborne works compared to the souls games?

Seems to me like various things unlock stuff to buy in the dream, either with echoes or insight. Killing
Djura, the machinegun dude
unlocked his armor set at the insight vendor and I think picking up some key item unlocked another armor set to buy with echoes. Killing
Eileen the Crow
also unlocks her stuff at the echoes vendor.

You'll see what it is later. Just run when you hear that wooshing sound or see some purple energy headed your way.

Go down the stairs from the Grand Cathedral where you killed Amelia. There'll be a path on the right side somewhere.

I've been forgetting to grab my stain during repeat boss encounters. I'll be totally wrapped up in the fight, and then I'll see it once it's right in front of me. It seems like they wanted to be subtle about the stain, but it's a little too subtle. I couldn't even find it half the time when fighting Gascoigne.

So I....
mistakenly attacked that female hunter. I let her kill me bc I didn't want to kill her. Now everytime I go back to her she wants to kill me. Did I mess up? Can she be "de-aggroed"? Does it matter if I kill her?

The atmosphere in this game just gets darker and darker and into the just plain WTF territory. I imagine lots of Madman's Knowledge was consumed during the making of it.

Co-oping Father G is a lot of fun! Although it seems like a lot of new players don't know how to gesture...kind of sad, gesturing to each other while co-oping was always a Souls tradition.

Don't know the consequences, but de-aggro is typically not possible. Thanks Myazaki. Don't kill the doll...

I remember accidently setting off Wrath of God in the Nexus. It was a bad day.

Do your dropped echoes disappear when you quit the game? I got stomped by CB last night and decided to come back and try again today. Just beat him and I can't find my echoes anywhere in the boss area. Iirc in DS2 your souls stayed when you quit the game.

I have to take a shower. I beat that giant cleric beast and that felt so rewarding.

Tips for people stuck that GAF and I just picked up:
-Farm health pots while you learn. And bullets. The area from Central lamp (2nd lamp) to that house usually nets you 2-4 health pots + bullets form the guy in the wheel chair.
-When fighting the beast, make sure you're aggressive. I did a lot of rolling under his legs and got right up on him. When your stamina is half way, use it to back up. Also try doing R1-R1-R1 and back up.
-When the beast throws it's hands on the ground, there's one attack where he lifts you up. That one-shot me a couple of times hitting me just right.
-Monitor it's animations. You'll learn when the time is to do one of your most important moves I kept forgetting about: charged R2 attack!!
-Molotov cocktails to his face when he's charging into beast mode. In my video, I didn't get to do it that much but the round before (where I died lol), I hit him just right.
-SIDE STEP!!!!! This saved me too many times. Just gotta hope he doesn't swing wide and catch you. But that attack doesn't hurt as much as his ground pounds. Worth the risk since you can regain your health quickly by just spam attacks.

Here's my video ftw:

Kirkhammer
and
Hunter
set aquired!

oh shit, theres a
key that costs 10k in the store
, let me guess...I need that to progress after the first boss dont I? lol if so, time to
grind 9k echoes
>_>

I don't think this common info about the 3rd boss's
"frenzy" phase
is true.

I was led to believe that once he gets to about 33%, he is constantly surrounded by a poison AoE which I don't believe is true. What I noticed is that after he roars, he does become very toxic and you do need to stay away from him but over time it seems to get weaker and eventually you can get in to attack without the poison bar going up more than 5-10% per second. But then after more time has passed he'll roar again and... well, it's a cycle I believe.

Or am I wrong and was the game just being, er, friendly this time?

Being able to use the summoning etc bells when offline is very confusing. I didn't realize I'd lost network connection so I was trying to be summoned for some bosses... then I tried to summon someone just to see if it was working (like I said, thought I was online) and it took my 1 Insight but obviously never found anyone. Didn't know I was playing offline until I tried to search for a Chalice Dungeon.
