I'm having loads of problems with father G and I'm pretty much out of potions and bullets. Any tips for quick farming?

yeah I know I said earlier I found this game easy... I will eat crow for this.

Just killed the Cleric Beast after initially giving up, wandering around and finding boss Number 2.

This is a far harder opening than either Dark Souls games for me. I need my shield!
Not having a shield causes occasional recklessness that gets me killed far more often than Dark Souls. Overall, I'm finding it easier, though. Easier to figure stuff out, I mean. Bloodborne feels far less cryptic, though I'm sure a lot of that has to do with DaS being my first Souls experience, with me now being used to some series tropes.

I dunno, guys. I've beaten Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2. Got platinum on Demon's and Dark - and yet this game is just destroying me so hard that I'm not enjoying myself anymore. I really want to, but fighting this boss over and over is killing me. I've spent my entire day here and I've even broken my own rules and watched a video... and in the video the boss isn't even doing what it's doing on my end. On my end, he's doing like crazy 7+ hit flurries and shit.

Can you not summon help?

You need to die from him once [or kill him] to gain the ability to upgrade stats. If you farm too much XP before that, you will not have anything worthwhile to spend it on. :-/

Oh wow, really? I guess I have to beat him then, since my echoes will be trapped in the boss battle.

edit: I was listening to a stream yesterday and the streamer (think it was Brad Shoemaker) said the doll comes to life at 1 insight. Is this true? I haven't beat any bosses but I have 2 Madman's Knowledge items, anyone know if I could consume 1 to get 1 insight, go back to the doll and level up and use my echoes before taking on CB?

to those that finished the game, or just simply know this:

that
disgusting giant spider on the side of a tower
in the trailers / pictures, boss or no?

GUYS huge help regarding getting to Amelia which I didn't realize before, might help someone out if they were going down the scaffolds all this time like me!

the gate that you open up at the area right after you jump off the ledge from the elevator (after that alleyway with the reaper) opens a shortcut right into a courtyard, which leads to the Cathedral bonfire. So basically after you open that gate up on your first run through, you can go straight out of the Cathedral and up the huge staircase to the area just before her.

Maybe I was crazy for not knowing this, but I'm super happy to not have to drop down that pit anymore!!

There's a balcony around there with an item on it. How do you get it? £ I must knowwww!

just taking pictures while waiting for someone to answer my summons.

You can get upwards of 10 vials by killing the two fatties by the elevator and the two enemies to the right of Father G's boss room. They each generally drop two vials, plus you'll get two more from the fatty after the bridge and whatever else you get from the regular enemies on the way. Kill the wheelchair enemy in the dark house for four bullets.

Can anyone tell me in spoiler tags where I can find Viola's mother's brooch? I'm already way past Father G and have (chapel sidequest spoiler)
told Viola to go to that safe place in the chapel
. I'm starting to think I've missed it.

Funny how you get endlessly beaten by a boss all night. Then you wake up the next day and best him your first attempt.

Screw you, Gascoigne.

Ashen Hunter set lookin pretty cool.

Really enjoying wailing on shit with the mace
Tonitrus
, but i'll see if it still feels this strong in later areas.

Have you unlocked the shortcut?
The guy in the wheelchair gives you like 4 bullets every time and killing those 2 hunchbacks tends to give you 2-4 potions each time. You could basically just farm that section over and over.

I just beat Father G btw after being stuck there for like 3 hours, if you have the musicbox don't use that until he transforms, because else he'll transform sooner and that Werewolf form is no joke, for his human phase try to master the visceral attack (shoot one of his actions to interrupt and then R1), the beast I just soaked in oil and then used a molotov.

I haven't even reached the 3rd boss yet and this is already the best game I've ever played. This is like the PS4's RE4.

RE4 is my favorite game of all time. If Bloodborne's technical issues get fixed, it's going to seriously give it a run for its money. As it stands, it's easily a top 10 game for me.

Is this your first "Souls" game?

edit - after posting i noticed 3 out of the last 4 posts had "Souls game" in it, lol

How do you get summoned into other people's games and what benefit is it to you besides helping somebody out?

You get echoes, and a point of insight if you beat the boss. You can use insight to buy stuff from the insight vendor in Hunter's Dream, and you also need it to summon someone.

You need 10 insight to unlock the vendor. Go into the house in Hunter's dream and go out the door on the left midway. Buy the resonant bell. Go outside a boss room and use it, and you will be summoned
