I'm so confused by the damage output of these weapons.

So, it say my right hand 1 ATK is 190, and my right hand 2 ATK is 215 - but when I use my right hand 2 weapon, I'm dealing significantly more damage.

Anyone mind explaining this?

With Strength now at 20, gonna resume focusing on Vitality and Endurance.

No more Bloodborne for me tonight. Well continue tomorrow. Looking forward to going back to Old Yharnam...

Feeling the game a lot more as I go, for whatever reason. It needs its technical issues fixed and it doesn't have the sort of build diversity I'd like, but it is totally an experimental sequel to Demon's Souls.

Won't have a chance to find out tonight but this is bugging me. In the sewer,
the ledge at the end where the huge charging vermin spawns
, is that a death trap or does it lead somewhere? I assumed the former as I could see nothing but black, and the notes there warned of a fall. I had a load of echoes and wasnt willing to chance it at the time.

Are you talking about the big-ass pig? There's a drop at the end of that tunnel, so instead draw him out into the open sewer and fight. There's a couple of items and a small shortcut up for your trouble.

hey what happens if you hit npcs. are they gone forever?

also beat first boss but kinda overleveled lol. 21 at first boss. Accidentally ran into 2nd boss before killing first boss though

I'm not willing to test it on my game but in DS, yeah once they are dead they are dead.

at 30 hours or so, so far I agree. not enough items, not enough weapons, not enough builds. blood tinge and arcane seem completley worthless. guns in general are only useful for parrying, and parrying is only situationally useful. by now I barely ever have my gun out or use it for anything.

there's a pattern here -- beat a boss, get no cool reward. open a chest in a dungeon, get no cool reward. you almost never get anything cool, and over time it dampens the excitement of exploring new areas. there's no spells, no miracles, hardly any outfits/wearables, and new weapons are so rare you stop even hoping for them.

Don't know what the point pf buying that key was. I went to the
workshop
and there was a locked door but the key doesn't go to it!

From the cathedral take elevator up past machine gun guy across the bridge. Don't go inside tower instead go around the back side and drop down and continue down through doorway and timed drops.

I'm a bit disappointed with the notebook system. Structure is limited and it seems like they removed lots of helpful keywords (i.e. directions).

Yeah, agreed. It still has the great area design and tension and combat and all that, but that's all it has, and why? It's sort of pretending that Dark Souls doesn't exist and didn't already address these issues. Strange.

Okay I need some help on the 8th/9th boss
Rom, how do I deal with his projectile attack? It's literally the only thing stopping me from killing this.

Anyone else freak out when
one of those hags (and the Witch of Hemwick) grabs you and slits your throat
? I mean, holy shit.

Yeah, when I first encountered them one ran past a door way and I went to chase it and another one grabbed me from behind and started cutting my throat. It was pretty shocking and awesome.

But it's already the best game ever made guys :)

I'm kidding, I'm not shitting on the game (I've loved it so far), I'm really not, but the hyperbole to its quality and especially the lack of pointing out the flaws (the lack of builds is a big one) is rubbing me slightly wrong. Especially as I get the feeling that, for example, if Miyazaki's name wasn't attached the game would be being picked apart a lot more (aka I think dark souls 2 gets a harsh rep).

After using the Kirkhammer for a while, learning about transform attacks, and then swapping back to the Hunter Axe I can conclude that the Kirkhammer is crap. B strength scaling at +3 and the longsword moveset is cool, but the hammer part of it is just useless. When I switched back to the hunter axe and started doing the R1 - L1 - R1 combo I was amazed at how much easier the game suddenly became.

My current opinion on the game is that all of these new mechanics are the start of something big, but the lack of a replacement for magic/faith being removed from the game is really affecting build diversity.

It's a shame too, as I'm loving the game outside of that.

Dat Ol'Yharnam framerate.

Old Yharnam ran perfectly fine for me. It dipped every now and again, but it was surprisingly smooth considering how infamous the area is. It is nowhere nearly as bad as Blighttown.

Just killed
darkbeast paarl
as my 6th boss. Can't think of anywhere to go now....can anyone help?

I think you need to go to the forbidden forest if I remember correctly. Near the boss for (I think Vicar Amelia) in the great cathedral, go to the spot where you got the 10,000 blood echo key (forgot what it was called). If you go left, you should find a guy who has a password for a door downstairs from him. This will take you to the forest.

So I got to the elevator in the sewers that leads you back to the shortcut that lead you to the first bondfire. how do you operate the switches cause they say they're not operable on both sides of the elevators. The elevators are working. I just want to know if this is a shortcut or not.

Quoting again. It's the elevator you see before past the two brute en route to the sewers. I got to the otherside and the lever's inoperable. Or is it that it needs to be all the way up for the lever to work to bring it down.

from the little I used it earlier this was my conclusion and it made me sad :(

Step 1: Lasts about a week or in rare cases a month. Hype ensues, best game ever, nothing is wrong etc.

Step 2: Reflection. The game definitely has flaws, but it is still great

Step 3: Threads start popping up. Is this game great?

:)

I like this game a lot to add but it has some questionable design choices.

The axe is pretty damned good. The R2 Charge Attack has wrecked everything so far.
