Grrrrrrrr. . You know what I'm about 3-4 hours in and after dying about 30 times I'm slowly getting the hang of it. Been playing for awhile now maybe an hour without dying, and it figures I roll through something and get glitched into a damn wall. Not even sure what to do now. This makes me wanna never play it again lol. Not sure what to do, is there anyway of getting back to a start point with all my stuff? Or do I need to just reset the game?

You should have a consumable named a Hunters Mask or something. One allows you to reawaken at a lantern and keep your blood echoes. The other will cause you to lose them.

Feel like I'm going the wrong way, or at least skipped an entire area or two.

I just killed
Shadow of Yarnham. I have a ton of runes that I can't equip because evidently I need to find some sort of witch area. No idea where that is. I also stumbled into a scary as balls area or two that seems like endgame: Nightmare Frontier and the Lecture Hall. I quickly high-tailed it out of there.

Witch place is to the right of Grand Cathedral (like right outside the boss are)

pretty good conclusion to my
BSB boss battle. Got hit with poison but got enough hits in to get my health up and kill BSB, but died of poison seconds after "prey slaughtered" popped up.
Felt good man.

Question regarding Father G

Isn't he the one they revealed as the main playable character way back when they originally showed the game? Was this game always designed around a character you create? Did they change it mid cycle, and then decide to make the previous main character a boss character?

It's been a long coming but today I noticed the good'ol exploding eyes-syndrome! We finally did it guys! (kidding, ofc)

Maybe you guys agree with this, and I'm not saying this is a negative, but man is the screen busy as fuck when you're just out generally exploring. There's so many things that catch your eye that it's hard to stay focused on your character. So many monuments and stone figures and fences and everything. Love it.

At the bottom of the stairs looking up at the Vicar Amelia boss fight door there are paths to the left and right. Not the very bottom of the stairs, high enough so it is like the last chance that you can go off to different directions. Follow the one on the right through some woods and you will eventually get to the boss with the rune tool. I think.

Bummer. I only have a Hunters mark. Guess I'm screwed. Might as well just start fresh game tomorrow.

I'm so lost I can't even find my way back to the damn cathedral boss. Augh. I don't know how that happened I was moving along very easily then just got all f'ed up

Go directly straight from the Tomb Lamp. Up the stairs (hopefully you opened it) should lead straight to Grand Cathedral.

Damn,
Amelia
is easily one of the coolest designed bosses I've seen yet.

Such a huge variety of animations and the sound design is just utterly haunting.

Not a very difficult boss fight but a really entertaining one nonetheless.

I just killed the 4tth boss
Vicar Amelia

High five anyone ? :D

Same! Hi five!

Just finished the game. Took me around 21 hours to finish. Definitely short for a From game, considering I usually finished the others in around 40 hours.

whelp calling it a night, I got Father Gascoigne to about 15% health, almost there, I can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just need to bring more molotovs next time.

Progress-O-Meter

1st boss: Took 15 or so tries. Finally downed in epic 10 minute fight.

2nd boss: 3 attempts, beaten fairly easily.

3rd boss: One-shotted.

4th boss: Butted my head against the wall with the wrong strategy for a long time. Decided to move on.

5th boss: Beat on second attempt. Would have one-shotted but that
blue magic stun thing
caught me off guard. Easiest boss by far.

4th boss again: Beat on my first attempt after killing the last boss. #MojoBack

6th boss: 2spoopy4me. Leveling up, exploring before I attempt.

Has anyone tried an Arcane build? I have a couple things that require a decent amount of it, very interesting things, one of which scales with it, and I can't use them to test.

I'm talking about
The "Roar" and the thing that says it partially summons [Eldtritch Name Here] that I found in the Lecture Hall. Spells?

Didn't do the dungeons. Fought two optional bosses. Don't know if this is a spoiler, but
once you beat the final boss, new game plus starts right away.

Does the Cleric Beast guard anything? I finally got him down, I just only found Quicksilver bullets.

PS what does the
Sword Hunter Badge
do?

This thread is amazingly helpful! I have another question:

I just got enough Strength to equip the Kirkhammer, which has superior attack stats on paper to my default saw/cleaver starter weapon. Yet the cleaver clearly does higher damage, and can one-hit kill most enemies (~100-120 damage per hit) in one or two charged attacks while the Kirkhammer requires three.

What the heck.

You definitely hit on a point here where many times you'd find powerful enemies guarding a chest only for there to be... nothing there. Unless you leveled your Arcane up enough to use the special reusable items that require it, it felt like there just wasn't anything there.

I do agree that the build variety is WAY lacking compared to the other Souls games... however I think there is more build variety then the game seems. Bloodtinge and Arcane seem useless at first glance, but after seeing weapons that scaled with them and finding some Arcane items that seemed like they'd be at least interesting, I think Arcane at least might be a worthy stat (I'm focusing on leveling it for my NG+). That said, I feel like every build is going to play roughly the same anyway with all having a gun in their offhand (with a few crazy builds that use a flamethrower for some reason) and weapon in the mainhand/sometimes two hander. So yeah... even if there's plenty of "builds" I don't feel really compelled to start a new character knowing I'd be playing the game mostly the same.

Game is still great though. I just don't see it being better than Dark Souls 1 or 2 in the long run for me.

While I think the combat, art .enemy, level design as well as the enemies themselves trumps the Souls games I agree that it could use more builds. Having said that it is their first shot at the new IP. I think given the critical acclaim and hopefully good sales it will most certainly turn out into a long run franchise and therefore with the engine in place hopefully Miyazaki adds stuff that is missing in the sequel.

Is there a way to open the little door that is behind the Cleric Beast? Ive approached it from the other side (at least I'm pretty sure it's the other side) and it just gives a message about it being closed.

The sword hunter badge opens up new items in the shop. From what I can tell, the Cleric Beast is completely optional.
