I think the idea behind the Chalice dungeon is really neat and I can see the appeal if that's what you're looking for. I just think that it would be better in Dark Souls 1 or 2 where they could populate it with interesting stuff to find along the way. The few hours I've spent in it so far have not felt rewarding at all. None of the enemies or bosses felt all that interesting.

Also trying out new weapons is cool and all, but really any build is probably going to only be able to really take advantage of a handful of them. As a highly skill based character, there are only I think 4 weapons that are really optimal for me. So gotta restart a character to try out a new weapon.

I want to bet there are some unique weapons and findings, but people haven't found the right combinations for making them yet.

From what I understand, you can create dungeons with weapons. Why not try to create a dungeon with something rare?

As for the gate in the beginning area, it opens up as a shortcut from Forbidden Woods. There will be a fork in the road before the mini town with all the fall traps.

Visual cue is that it will be on the left side by with a bed of flowers. Just hug the left side and you will come across a house with a red lamp and caged dogs.

Wrap around said house and there will be a cave behind. Go through the cave work you way to the right (water is poisoned and there are tough giant mobs).

There will be a ladder that will lead to the starting area and a device to open the gate.

Thanks. I actually remember seeing a fog door during coop in that area now!

GAF what is the point of Chalice Dungeons, besides endless fun and new ever changing dungeons?

I know fun is the most important, but is there also other rewards, like new loot, or items?

Do you get something for clearing a chalice dungeon?

Supposedly there are new items to be found in there, but after 2-3 hours in the dungeons I did not find any items that weren't normal consumables or materials to make more dungeons.

The end of the chalice dungeons (for the two I cleared) gave me a chalice for a harder dungeon.

There might be rewards deeper in, but I don't know yet!

Does anyone know where I can find Blood Stone Chunks? I desperately need them. I found some lying around in the Cainhurst Castle, but I need more.

When he have transformed use the tiny music box and follow up by spamming molotovs until he dies. Not necessarily easy so get your distance before using the music box.

What I'm finding difficult is the camera in the tight spaces

Is there a way to spawn at the fog where the boss is?

Any tips on beating him, facing him now.

Hmm I don't think he is that difficult if you roll out of his attacks.
There is lots of cover on the field, try to use it to your advantage, as his bullets won't go through it.
Most of his attacks seem to be combos, so if he starts attacking don't run in swinging because you will get caught in his combo, roll away and attack him after he finishes attacking.
Alternatively, use your pistol on him if you can get the timing while he is attacking.
Stay far enough away from him so you don't get hit by his melee, but also stay close enough so he doesn't spam his gun at you and so you can get hits in.
His final form was pretty much dead after I chucked a couple molotovs at him, so maybe save some for that.

I only fought him a few times and I'm not really that great so my advice might not be so good lol.

Forbidden Forest spoilers:

Holy shit.
The Shadows of Yharnam fight was such an adrenaline rush. The switch to more aggressive and nimble dodge mechanics really fits well with focused mob/group fights. Somehow managed to do it on my first try while alone. I wouldn't have it any other way.

You probably know this, but the timing of your shooting is a bit off. The shot should land during the enemy attack (before it hits you, but after it has started) to stun him. Then get close, and quickly tap R1 for awesome results.

Ah, yea. I think I have a bit of a trigger finger. I seem to sometimes panic while being attacked or something and just start shooting.

But apparently you just need 1 insight to be able to level up. And there was an item that gave it to me laying around Yharnam and I haven't fought any bosses yet. Reading the OP made me think the boss was a flag that initiates the process, but I guess it's more like you get an insight for killing a boss like you got humanity in Dark Souls.
I'm just making fun of people who read something on the internet maybe in a guide and think something is wrong, because it was different for them.
What you read wasn't accurate.
With you and your game, everything is alright.

Where do you get the tiny music box? I've beaten the cleric beast.

In the area with the big mummy guy banging on the door past the first crowded street, go up the first set of stairs and take a left. There's a shorcut there, if you opened it up talk to the girl in the window. If you didn't open it up you gotta go around and I don't remember how to do that.

I have had the same problem in souls games when it comes to spamming sword attacks in stressfull situation - in demons and dark that often ment death, but now it actually pays off! :D

But I know the feeling.

What's the music box? Haven't got that item.

Clear through the sewers. You'll exit the sewers and you'll see a ladder going all the way up to reveal a lever that unlocks a shortcut to the earlier areas. Right near this lever, is a red lamp and a lit window. Talk to it, it's a girl who will give it to you.

Possible! I'll probably try again tomorrow. I haven't written it off yet, I just am voicing my initial experiences.

So I just cleared the 4th boss. Am I about more than halfway finished with the game?

Also, the guy in the door requesting the 'password.' Is this some super secret thing or should come across it normally?

I met this bird faced npc woman
outside of the cathedral, she said don't go under the cathedral -- or something... now she showed up in the grand cathedral (where the giant demented llama girl was) and aggros me. I have no idea what's going on,
but I feel like I'm missing a chunk of her story somehow.

After wasting four hours on Rom, I think I'm done with the game. It's easily the shittiest boss encounter they've designed so far.
People that say to ignore the adds are relying on blind luck, because when you do that you risk getting stunned from the side or behind with either a dive or spit, which leads into you either getting hit by Rom's homing ice bullshit, his melee explosion or his super fast thrash.

I've gotten him down to 20% multiple times, but then there's literally 100+ spiders on the screen making an opening impossible.

"Just summon help" isn't the correct answer. No boss should require assistance.

At the end that quickly? Game must be pretty short then?

I just cleared the 4th boss. Am I almost done?

Took me about 30hr and it seems I missed a bunch. Unless you are doing some mad skipping, no. :)

Why don't you kill the spiders for each stage? They never respawned for me.

Ugh. This game is ruining my sleep schedule. I need to stop!
Yeeaaaaah. Everyone here is asking me "what's wrong with your eyes" since they're completely red.

I have seen a chalice dungeon drop weapons not found in the regular game for a streamer. I think you just need to get to a reasonable depth. I'm still experimenting

Different bosses are going to give different people problems. I smoked
Cleric Beast
(1st try) and
Father G
(2nd try). But BSB took me 7+ attempts. Its about the weapon and tactics you're using. Whatever strategy you're utilizing needs to change.

And the co-op is a lot of fun. I think you'd be better off getting help than dropping the game.
