About the playtime of your first playthrough:

If you wanna rush through the game, you can do that in under
25 hours
.
If you want to see everything, it's
40+ hours
.

Also, where do I get a
Katana
?

I honestly do think the cane is the best weapon in the game. And I'll whip you to death if you disagree.
I pity all the people who started over because they thought the cane was too weak.

Mine is currently +3 and it's versatility has gotten me out of all kinds of scrapes.

It also has the coolest transformation animation.

I want to set the messengers sound effect as my phone notification tone :D

Zedge doesn't have it yet. Anyone know where I could possibly find that?

It's time to get rid of this stupid Destiny Dinklebot lol

I'm like 7 bosses in, just killed the one in the forest. I have like 4-5 other unlocked areas i haven't started. Can't decide on one to tackle. Is there any zone i should go after the forest first ?

Wow, almost at OT2 already. This thread moves faster then an enraged white Monoblos.
This game is the reason I Haven't played MH4U for a few days now.

I just cannot beat The Cleric Beast. I get him down to like 2/3, but that's it. Any tips!? And I'm afraid to use blood vials since if I use them up and die I have to farm.
I beat him buy staying close to his big arm since its easy to tell when he is about to punch the ground. Keep using the r1 attack it uses less stamina and keep dodging to the right. Also unlock the shortcut that leads to the bridge from the house its a great farming route and will allow you to level up and get loads of blood vials.

hahaha SAME here

Actually I was talked into playing last night only to have Teostra hand me my ass...

OMG gaming this year is SOOO GOOD

2015 gonna go down in history for me. Thanks Capcom/Fromsoft

I only got a short play session last night and another short session this morning but I am already extremely impressed. The art and level design are excellent, as expected, and the melee combat is fun and feels great. I also really like the shoot --> stun mechanic. Pulling one off successfully is just as satisfying and just as brutal as a parry ---> riposte combo in Dark Souls.

I can't say enough good things about how cool Yarnham looks. I've only seen a fraction of it but it just oozes with character and personality. I am going to enjoy spending time getting to know every nook and cranny.

I rolled cane and I'm loving it. it is a rod made of pure answers.

Yeah Im probably just bad at it lol. I've not heard of this NPC helper, nor can I get anyone to answer my bell, but Im not sure Im doing that correctly either.

Have you met the cleric at the little church where the hidden stairs leading to Old Yarnham are?

I dunno if you have to talk to him first (though you probably have to) but certainly if you have, there's a little easily missed golden light on the hill to the right of the stairs when facing the BSB. If you ring the bell while standing in the light, you can summon the cleric to aid you. He wields the Kirkhammer. Having someone else to distract the beast is a big help early on. Though he was still taken out by the time I got BSB down 50%. From there, it's you and him.

About to try to fight the cleric beast. Got a question though. Does the game save automatically after beating him or do you need to run back to the lantern after defeating it. Dont want to beat the thing and screw up only to have to do it again. Thanks.

Its amusing at blood starved because there is a message left from the developers telling you to ring bell if you need help, yet help never comes.

Yeah. I spent about 3 insight there (multiple attempts) before I managed to get it done solo.

I MUCH prefer the souls method of summoning.

Yeah, not to mention I'm still playing smash 4 WiiU and Xenoblade X is also coming this year. Choosing a GOTY is going to be impossible this year.

It's pretty slow. Like a pixel every 30 seconds (I made this up).

Geez so it is not worth it, I thought about maining the Chikage and using the transformation often but have my health regenerated swiftly.

. .Now I don't know is it worth it, especially if I'm going to invest in Bloodtinge.

(unless it scales to A with arcane at 10+)

This game is a damned 2 out of 10 experience until they patch these load times. Another game where it was released before being finished, and I ate it up because I loved Dark Souls so much.

I can see the awesome game that's here, but I'm no pro and need to die a lot in order to 'get gud', and this game, in it's current form is absolute shit if you die often. Also the chromatic aberration looks awful here, as is does in every single game I've ever had the displeasure of noticing it.

I'm pretty early on (dying on the second boss), and I might just put this game back up on the shelve until it's actually in a playable state for crap-players like me.
I don't mind being punished for dying a lot, but don't waste my time.

Not counting the three chalice bosses, I've killed 7 main world bosses and
the sky
changed. am I in the home stretch now?

cleric beast
father g
bloodstarved beast
llama girl
shadow ninjas
witch of hemlock
dream spider

still haven't found any new weapons.
:(

the game is always saving, you don't need to do anything to save, it is saved.

that said, go ahead and open and close a menu, or quit properly just to be safe.

Spawn at the middle point at Mergo's loft. You can do one run of the enemies in the area and get a cool 40k. The pigs alone are 10k each.

It depends how much side stuff you do. You are fairly close to the end if you just follow the main path.

Well the game is meant to be social (discussing outcomes with friends) and to be replayed (to try new builds, new game plus, challenge runs) in order for all of its content to be peeled back like layers of an onion

I get it, but it reeks of lore style storytelling where a ton of information is placed at the periphery simply for being found when people start peeling those layers. It's window dressing. Obfuscation for the sake of it. Sometimes the direct approach is the more effective one. So now instead of a really effective dark tale that a majority of people can experience with their own endings (depending on your choices), the stories are "uncovered" but end up turning into a series of actions to unlock new lines of dialogue in a very mechanical fashion (especially in regards to minimizing the loading in Bloodborne). There's no emotional investment IMO. It's one thing if I was asking for something that isn't there, but it's clearly there- they just don't put a spotlight on it. Again, some people will really enjoy that but I think there's a better way to handle it. BTW, this isn't some kind of revelation, I know that this is how things have always worked. Just not a fan.

Well I managed to take down 2 bosses today
The Witch of Hemwick and Darkbeast Paarl
and made my way over to the beginning of the Forbidden Woods. It was a good day, hopefully I can make some good progress tomorrow too!

Same here, I fucking love it. Great for crowd control. Scales well once you start fortifying it.

I have been upgrading the saw spear for versatility though. It was a struggle to do so last night. But I went for it. Next fortification will be cane again. At least until I find a Ludwig's sword.
