Yay. First two bosses down yesterday. Cant wait to play more today. I also got two questions.

I found a couple a shining coins earlier. The description that they give you is quite. What do they do exactly?

Also the "view spectre" function doesnt seem to be working. Any one else having this?

You flip them onto the ground and the coin will have a shiny spot on it pointing you in the general direction you need to be going.

Yeah anyone lost should be using these lol

For all newbies having trouble with wolves, cleric beasts, or crazy old hobos, use these.

Yolotovs are the best. Gonna upload my Father G fight where I killed him with one last night.

Finally got past
all the trash mobs to encounter giant werewolves on the bridge, where I got brutalized in a corner.
Are there any lanterns around that area? I'm still using the one into the entrance to Old Yarnham and the idea of having to go through all of that again is killing me unless I just run.
There's a gate you can open right next to the lantern.

Go down the stairs from the bridge, through the dark house, turn left, go up another set of stairs and there's a gate to open. It's a great place to farm blood for the Hunter armor also.

What did you do to kill the second hunter? I took out the first one with the lightning mace pretty easily, but the second guy messed me up bad. I can't get close to him without eating a face full of buckshot and he is really quick.

He's a bastard for sure, I was just really patient then when he was close to death he fell of the roof of the building that has the crows on it and died

Yo OT2?? Nice job gaf!

Subbed again!!

I finally took down Cleric Beast last night after banging my head against
Father G
thinking he was the first boss.

My only complaint right now is the fact that bloodstains don't activate 90% of the time

I love watching people die, wish they would work.

And holy shit is there a ton of bloodstains everywhere

Going to post this again:

Did I screw up picking the Cane? I'm well on my way to the fourth boss but I feel so neutered in comparison to people using the compact-ax-blade-thing in any video I see. I'm fairly certain it's not my strength either, will I be able to buy/find one? Or am I better off spending 20,000 souls on the Sword?

Cane is amazing. Upgrade it and your Skill skill. It absolutely destroys once you start putting gems in it.

If you find a certain badge, you can purchase all the starting weapons form the bath messengers in Hunter's Dream.

25 hours in and those crow fuckers still scaring the shit out of me occasionaly

I love that they are no problem at all, UNLESS two of them fly up and stun lock you at the same time. That happened once early on and I've been scared of them ever since haha!

what the hell? Some new
enemy showed up at the cathedral and i died and now i'm like in some sort of prison instead of the hunters dream
.

So how is everyone allocating stats so far? Between my multiple DeS/DS playthroughs, my favorite was the dexterity build.

With Souls, attempting to balance a character usually hurt more than it helped. I chose lone survivor and have been putting most of my echoes thus far into leveling up my endurance.

I'm starting to struggle as to where to go from there though. Not sure if I want to keep focusing on endurance or start leveling up arcane or bloodtinge.

Debating on rerolling since I feel like I've fucked up on my stat allocation and I missed a few things already. I'm 4 bosses in... man I dunno.

How have you been allocating them? I'm concerned already as well. Not sure how much arcane and bloodtinge will play later on...

Careful...should probably spoiler tag this.

New thread so time for some thoughts:

I like the mechanic where you can get back some health after taking an attack by attacking. That's really cool and helps the combat flow better if you take a hit so you don't have to back off, heal, then go back in.

I like the setting and the look of the game. I like the characters and they are 100% souls NPCs "he he he he...."

I like the weapons and how they transform.

Don't like the load times.

Don't like how you have to go to the dream to warp. Why can't I warp from one lamp post to another and only have one load time instead of two?

More than any other Souls game I've noticed very noticible gaps in the world. Not that you can go through but ones where a side of a building isn't textured so you see through it. Things like that.

Don't like the naming of the blood things. Like, what is wrong with small, medium, large or creative names like in the other souls games? I guess it's clearer that ___ (1) is smaller than ___ (6) but it just feels silly for a game with so much thought put into lore and item names/descriptions.

I miss the variety in armour and weapons from previous souls games.

Not liking the Co-op system. Much prefer being able to see signs and use them if needed rather than this where I have to stand around waiting ages to maybe get a partner. Before you could see if you could get someone, now you don't know if you're over levelled or what.

Can't really think of much else I don't like. Really enjoying it so far.

Hmm those might be useful, I should be at the Infamous Forest soon. Still can't believe I had no problem with Vicar Amelia last night, only took me 2 attempts!

Hmn. What weapon did you use? I was rocking Hunter's Axe and felt like maybe it was just too slow. Thinking about leveling up the cane to see if the whip can help me get in on him.

I feel like everyone has gotten away ahead of me =[ Been sitting in front of
Starved Beast
for 20 minutes now, waiting for someone to answer my bell. Started with the GAF pass, but now I have no password and searching worldwide.

Cane is a skill weapon, not strength.

If you've pumped everything into STR then go for the axe, if mix of STR and SKL then the sword.

No Sleep + trying to fight Martyr = bad times. Couldn't get any people summoned at all either. >< Time for a break!

Did have my first Invader ever while trying to summon people on him. Dude had a Katana, but, just couldn't do shit for damage to me.

Where do I go after Father G? I'm in Old Yharnham now with the gunner on the tower, am I going the right way? The Cathederal ward was blocked off with a gate that needed and emblem

Oh yes, enjoy. I am headed back to that dreaded place when I resume playing here shortly.
It's like some Lovecraftian in-between worlds type of place.
The atmosphere is incredible.

Question: Do I immediately need to save up for for hunter chief emblem, or am I still cool to invest in levels and weapons/items? Just beat up father G, as a point of reference.

How did you mess up? Hard to imagine it being too bad that early (unless you put all points into Blood or Arcane). Now way in hell I'd start over...

Only played an hour last night.

I need to buy the beginners gear from the dream and try to reach the boss again :(

It's the stupid guys with the flames who hit me in a three hit combo that just wreck me. Need to find a better way to pull the huge camp at the end of the roads.

After killing t
he witch
...im kind of at a loss to head next.

Should I
go down to where the invisible giant is? can I even kill him?
