Naw,
A hunter shows up where you fight Vicar after you face/beat Rom.

What I did was pile on Blood Resist (Our guns are blood so I guess his are too) and just run like a little bitch from him, he'll
transform his weapon and drain his own health down to like 25%, then pop a vial, then transform again..So you only have to deal with a quarter of his health. Just dodge/run from him til then.
his Blunderbuss was almost 1shotting me, but if you stay away from him it loses it's bite.

Anyone else with LHB care to provide some input? From last page:

So I finally unlocked Ludwig's GS, and I'm really tempted to buy it. I've heard good things about it, but the problem is I was originally going the strength route. Honestly I'm not too happy with my kirkhammer, even at +4.

Is it worth it to try and make a quality build with Ludwig's? I know it's already too late for an Arcane build...

My current stats at lvl 27 are:
Vit: 15
End: 15
Str: 25
Skl: 10
Blood: 6
Arc: 7

Quick question to all of bloodgaf, i'm about at the end-game
(have all but upper cathedral ward done, have all three cords, did sandhurst and nightmare frontier)
, so my question is do I go ahead and do all the chalice dungeons now or wait to do them in ng+? Already at level 81 and doing good gear wise (although I do want to try out the burial blade and the beast claws.) What say ye gaf; finish the damn game or grind through some chalices?

Is it advisable to
kill the person on the balcony
in Byrgenwerth

Either that or
don't invite him to the chapel where the other people are. Because if you do he'll kill the creature with the red robe.
Just keep in mind if you do, you'll be fighting a
electric werewolf.

I'm not sure what to think of this game. Exploring new areas is fun, defeating an annoying enemy without taking damage is satisfying, but...

- Repeating the same sections over and over again when you die is boring. I'm at Amelia and having to run through the same giant axe-weilding dudes and the priest guys is repetitive as hell, even when you know how to properly kill them.
- The blood vial system is awful, particularly for boss fights. I was trying to fight the BSB but kept failing and thus, also ran out of vials. The only solution I have is to run around and kill random enemies for blood echo/vials, which as I said above, is really boring. Thankfully there was another path to take (which required me to grind 10000 blood echo, of course).
- The boss fights are tense, but to me they feel very same-y so far. Sweeping claw attack you see from a mile away, pressing O a million times to dodge obviously telegraphed attacks, spamming triangle when you take enough damage to risk dying on the next hit, etc. And then they all seem to have some combo attack that instantly kills you, which invokes my first two complaints.

Also I've run into a few wonky hitboxes (wolf hitting me with a forward claw when I'm behind it, getting hit by the top of one of those priest guy's spears while on a ladder where the blood spewed out of thin air).

I don't remember having this repetition complaint when I played DaS, but I've also changed a lot of a gamer over the past three years, so I don't know.

Im kinda pissed that im locked out of
The Hypogean gaol now
after I killed the
Vacuous Spider
. Hadn't cleared the area yet =(.

Also did I miss the
Vileblood covenant?
I heard mention of it when skimming this thread. I just got to
Yharagul but I did the optional areas [Old Yharnam, Nightmare frontier, and Hemwick Lane
. If I just haven't reached the place where it is, just tell me I haven't.

I definitely prefer the flask system from Dark Souls. That said, there are some enemies that are nearly guaranteed to drop vials. Central Yharnam lantern, down stairs to the two giants roaming under the bridge... 4 vials almost every time.

I think I screwed up something. I managed to
find the red brooch for the little girl, but while talking to her I randomly died for some reason in mid speech. When I come back to her, her window is darkened and there's no response. I didn't get anything from her.

Am I supposed to get some reward for completing the quest? Is it vital to continue? If so, should I restart? Don't really fancy fighting Gascoigne again...

Bloody hell this board moves fast. Anyway, I sorted out the problem above.

Turns out that
if you get interrupted talking to her, the game assumes you give her the red brooch.
You will then get
the red ribbon from the pig in her sewers, it's a messenger item.

What is the Good strat to beat the third boss
Vicar Amelia
?

Stay mid-distance from her, locked on. She will do the same move over and over again: hold her left hand close to her body and swipe with her right hand. Right after she swipes with her right hand, she will lunge with the same right hand and scrape the floor. All I did was wait until she started her swipe, then I left-dash which she misses you, waited back for her to scrape the floor, then moved in and hit her in the face with my whip-cane (R1). Sometimes I could nail her twice, but usually only once. After a few shots, she'll drop to her knees and clutch her medallion, which means time for you to whip her ass multiple times, then back away. And repeat. Takes some time, but easiest fight in the game for me so far. Beat her on second try.

central, kill the two giants (4 vials), go down elevator, cross the bridge killing the dudes there (sometimes a vial or two here), kill the giant for another two viles, then the two mutants around the corner tend to drop vials as well. Exit through the lantern in father G's room. This is my standard vial run.

This. Basically, if you want to load up on ammo/health, from Central Yharnam, run to left gate, go into house, kill wheelchair guy for 4 bullets, and the other guy (who will sometimes drop health), then go outside and down the stairs to the two big guys, who almost always drop 4 health items together (they very rarely drop coins), then take the elevator down and go across the bridge, let the rock kill everything or kill them yourself (they can sometimes all drop stuff, or nothing), kill the next big guy for 2 health, go up the stairs to the area just before Father G's boss room and kill the 2 beasts for yet another 4 health items.

Easiest farming route for items. Later in the game you can do a different route that is better (for money to buy instead of drops).

It's in another optional area called
Cainhurst Castle.

I uh..I actually just cheesed my way to victory through a hella scummy method..

Aggro him and then make him follow you down the stairs and outside..he will switch to his two hand mode that drains his hp...and then never switch back. But he walks back to his starting location.

Just do the run from the Witches Abode back to the previous lantern. You'll get more than a half dozen vials and 12k in blood echoes. It's the best farming route I've found.

Now to stock up on bullets since I've run out... And I literally just got to the final boss. Yeesh. That never happened at all in the game. Vials and Bullets should respawn at 20 every time you activate a lantern. But then there wouldn't be any enemy drops at all apart from the odd rare gem.

The game has a serious loot problem and I think that the vial drops/bullets are a way to try and mask that.

So I was going back down under the Cathedral church to walk my buddy through getting down to the bottom. But I noticed something I didn't notice the last time that there's a door if you do a long jump on the way down. Needless to say I jumped to it and went in. If you haven't done this yet you really should. I won't say anything more.

Always dash in towards her.I find it a lot easier to sidestep her attacks the closer I am to her. Also always sidestep towards her clenched fist(which is her left hand IIRC) and you should be fine.Good luck :)

-Just run past those dudes and into Amelia's castle. You don't have to kill them.
-Blood viles can be farmed easily from the Central Yharnam lamp. Kill the werewolfs on the bridge and the hunchbacks with the bricks.
-I don't share the same view of the boss fights. To me, each one has been completely different so far. And the 5th boss is so unique, it made me smile. I find them much more varied than DaS1 actually.

Soooo NPC question (Cathedral Ward area):

Is it worth keeping Eileen alive if I want her set? I read you can buy her set if she dies in the fight with the hunter in Oedon Tomb but is there any other reason to keep her alive after that?

Fuck. Night
mare of Mensis
, big difficulty spike in terms of general enemies. Don't know what to do against the hunter here.

The
guy on the bridge in white
? Just shoot him as soon as he starts an attack. He'll get stunned instantly. He's really easy to parry. His attacks are quick, but if you bait one out (just get within melee range) and shoot when he lifts his arm, it's easy to do so. No need to time the shot just before he hits you or anything - literally just pop him as soon as you see any attack start. I got like 3 of those off in a row the first time I saw him and killed him quick.

Also, it took me a while to realise but all the enemies in the are are very, very susceptible to parries. They're quick but the hunter above is basically an introduction into how to parry them too, it's an easy parry and one-counter kill. Better than the 3/4 heavy attacks they usually need to go down.

Of course I'd prefer it if vial runs (and the bullets, though that's a bit different) didn't have to exist. And that I didn't have to climb a giant staircase filled with annoying enemies to get back to Amelia every time I have to face her or even want to explore what's up there.

Pretty much this. My 5 or so attempts at Gascoigne ended with a net gain in health and ammo, since I never really needed to use any on Gascoigne himself (don't need to use any in his first form, killed too fast to use any in second, lol). Now sitting at 20 in hand and about 77 in storage. If anything, I think the game is too generous with health potions.

You can get both her set and weapon by killing her. What you miss out on (presumably) is entering the Hunter of Hunters covenant.

Probably better farm spots than this, but through my first run through i've been using the first lecture hall lantern as a decent spot to grind echoes. Loads quick, room midway on the right is good for around 10-12k echoes at a time. Not the best for leveling, but you can easily max out your blood vials/bullets with about fifteen minutes of grinding.

if you complete her quest
you get her covenant rune and be able to buy her set.

I noticed that door but couldn't get to it. How do you do a "long jump on the way down"?

Asking again since this OT and the last one have taught me that no-one skims past anything but the last two pages:

Need help with super-late game.

I was told to refuse the offer so that I could fight the guy and get his scythe. But FUCK ME of course now is the time that I run out of bullets for the first time ever in the entire game. I used the convert health to bullet thing and that leaves me with enough to do all the easy counters and get him to below half health.

But them he's counter proof. And he can stagger-lock me into three guaranteed hits that take off 90% of my health. How are you meant to fight this guy?
