Is there any consensus on what levels people tend to reach bosses/endgame with?

I know that leveling isn't the end of the world in any case, and that subtracting 10 from my level probably won't change my success rate too much. Just curious as to what folks are getting.

For my part, I've beaten
The Witch of Hemwick and explored some of the forest
and I'm level 56.

Also is there any way to view "Time Played" like in Dark Souls? Just curious how I see all these posts that say it took them "18 hours to Kill ____ Boss."

I was 82 when I beat it.

You can see your play time if you select load, as opposed to continue, from the main menu I believe

Question regarding the
Hunter
with the gatling gun who I've left alone so far: When should you kill him or do you get something for leaving him alone?

Afaik there's no purpose on leaving him be

Booo. I'll wait until I'm a higher level to fight him though.

Apparently if you approach him with the Black Church Garbs, have defeated Blood Starved Beast, and don't attack enemies in the area? Something along those lines, not sure if people have worked out the conditions. I believe he gives you a gesture

Is anyone else having issues with calling other players for co-op? I have tried ringing my beckoning bell many times and I have never gotten been able to call another player. Does location have anything to do with it? I have tried at warp lanterns and in front of fog gates.

Location matters. As it only summons you if you are essentially near by. Try walking around level. Like walk backwards from a boss area.

Other then that, also depends on your level. Think it's like +- 10 levels + 10%. (what i heard). So make sure you are in an area that is around your level. So you might be over-leveled or under.

I'm still not sure how picking up blood echoes works in this game. I've picked up piles I've never dropped, seen enemies with glowing eyes in areas I'm exploring for the first time, and picked up piles from glowing eyed enemies after dying multiple times. I've been playing it safe in assuming that it follows Dark Souls rules, but I think there are other rules in play here.

One thing I was wondering, is there a vagrant or drift item like system in BB? Like if someone loses a ton of echoes will that pile show up in someone elses world?

i'm not sure if that happens but that would be pretty wild if it did. man, that official guide can't come soon enough.

Anyone else using Tonitrus? I'm using that and Ludwig's Holy Sword. Ludwig's is great in 2H when I want reach, but Tonitrus's damage output and speed is insane, as long as you keep the lightning buff on.

Thanks. Did I miss something?

If not thats awful game design.

Honestly, I only knew that because I recalled reading it accidentally. I would have had NO idea that's where I would have needed to go to otherwise, as I don't remember any references or hints :lol

Someone else might have picked up on something though. Fortunately I've been backtracking even as far back as the beginning of the game to see what's changed now I've unlocked a shit ton of shortcuts. Got a new item or two out of it as well so it's definitely worth running around to places you've been before as you might just end up progressing through the game as a result.

I'm done for today.

Any tips for
Watchdog of the Old Lords
in
Defiled
Chalice?

The number of one shot kills is too damn high :/

Just took down the third boss and unlocked a chalice dungeon. The game is finally starting to click for me, this is awesome!

YES!
That's my new combo. I posted in OT2 about Tonitrus and was messing around with it after upgrading it with some extra blood shards. Holy shit I had no idea it would be so fast.

That's exactly how I use the two. Ludwig for the reach and big hits, tonitrus for speed.

For real, there's probably so much I've missed. Trying to figure out things on my own has been fun though.

yea, the delay does make all this speculation fun unlike DkS2 where the guide destroyed all the mystery right away at launch. but man, i'm shocked at how people are finding so many things so soon. Fextralife has been fun to see them speculate random shit for some entries.

Downloading a 2.6GB patch... Already out?!

EDIT: jesus, apparently my PS4 decided to delete/corrupt the patch files and now I have to download all over again the day one patch. I can't even start the game without online and unpatched, it gives me an error. Extremely pissed, I only had one hour or so to play today.

Soo, those
frenzy
monsters in Ni
ghtmare of Mensis
... why? Miyazaki, you're crazy.
Why do they have to sing
? Not even Silent Hill has anything more creepy than those things.

OT3 and I've yet to beat the game. I can't get myself to play for more than an hour or two when I'm making progress. It's so good, I don't want it to end. I defeated Mister Lagombi on some castle last night. Why won't that lady talk to me?

The Queen you mean? Stand on the sigil on the ground in front of her and it will prompt you to kneel.

I feel like a lot of people underestimate the Kirkhammer's damage.
Everyone I've seen playing with it sees the very small "shockwave" damage it does when you're just out of range and then complains it doesn't do any damage. :/

Check your melee range people! :P

Is there a recommended area to farm blood vials?

If you have it unlocked the
witchs abode
theres 3 axe dudes close by, all have a seemingly very good chance of dropping 3 to 4 vials. Plus you can do a run all the way back to the hemwick lantern. Killing everything along the way should net you a few more + a good amount of soulsy echo things

I am seriously considering never starting up that character ever again.

That boss is insanely fucking easy, but becomes hard because of stupid environments and abysmal transition-phases. Absolutely disgusting. It's not even fucking hard, just straight up stupid.

I might as well start my PvP-character next

Basically whenever you die you drop a bloodstain like in the other games, but if an enemy walks over it it'll absorb your echoes and its eyes will start glowing purple. Many enemies in this game have long patrol paths so that's why you'll sometimes find glowers in different areas.

Bless the wonderful summons that gave me a tour of the woods and helped me beat the boss without even getting hit
they seemed alright and the area isnt too tough but my god its so big
tuty1 and rouski94, if youre here thank you

Buy stuff at the insight shop to get rid of insight, but yeah there's some truth to it. I'm at 40 insight and enemies have significantly different moves. For example, projectiles when they didn't used to.

What level are you on? I do some jolly cooperation here and there and managed to get into level 44. Don't know how to enter others Chalice Dungeon though.

WOOHOO!!!!

Cleric dude downed 1st attempt!!! Went for the kill rather than fannying around 8) Used prolly 6 bloody things and a couple of molotovs though to be fair i should probably of kept them ....Still, felt fooking grand and easier than i though.

I think there is a bug with blood echo drops. I've had many times where they would just go away. Esp if I use the lamp teleport or allowed myself to be summoned (for a successful boss fight). Twice my echos dropped in a boss location and were not found afterwards. :/

Has this been tested/confirmed? Has anybody lured an enemy over a dropped blood stain and seen the enemy light up?

I played way too much of this game over the weekend. I had to go on a hike sunday just to get in the sun I was getting depressed just BEING in the world of Yarnahm lol
