Can someone explain the benefits of NG+ to me? I know you can encounter new types of enemies you haven't seen prior, but do you also get new loot to find so you can feel a sense of progression?

I would not agree with that.

I've cleared the game a few times and using a gun was never necessary.

It's a great tool though if you can git gud with it.

Yeah, it is definitely up to the style of the players. I for one like to use the pistol a lot to stagger. I also see a lot of Souls-Vets using two-handed weapons and almost never using guns.

That's the great thing about these games.

Most people, including myself, knocked him off the roof. Keep shooting him and try to get him backed up against a ledge.

try running the entire way up the ladder. then run right at him when you get to the top. you can catch him off-guard and with a few hits knock him off. worked for me.

Trick him into jumping off the tower or just parry him.

Thanks guys, I'll try that when I get home!

What should I start putting points into now? There are a few weapons that require more bloodtinge for me to use. Then there's the [spoilers]arcane items[/spoilers]. I'm just not sure.

I'm not sure if this would work out, but try getting your bloodtinge to 50, equipping a health regen rune and then equipping the chikage. I wanna know if you can negate the health loss.

It was useful in the first half of the game, but once my weapon was upgraded enough and I was killing almost every mob in one shot anyway it became pointless

Yeah that's true for NG, but NG+ is way faster parrying them all. If you get good you can wreck everything with it. Also very nice for level 4 runs. I am at Amelia now and had no problems :p

any tips on finding dem illusory walls in the Chalice Dungeons? Are they always present and is there a limit to how many appear during any given dungeon?

Does this one feel a good bit shorter than DS1 and 2? I read up on where I'm at right now, and was surprised to find out that im actually at the very end...

Man, some of the transformation animations in this are just the coolest thing ever. I'm just sitting here flicking the Blade of Mercy back and forth.

Ive done my way beyond the 3rd boss and have not used the gun for a single parry yet. Am I doing it wrong? Lol

Nope, TBH its harder to learn to dodge than to learn to parry I think, but since I have mastered dodging and never parrying, its dodging all the way for me. I may do a subsequent parry only run to try to get gud at parrying, but ...meh. Its too repetitive a way to kill things even with differetn timing, not dynamic enough.

Is it true that repeated trips through an area lowers the drop rate on blood vials? I remember hearing that somewhere, think it was Vaati's beginner video.

It seems that way. My early level farming route tapped out. However, after a couple days, went back and vials are dropping again. Not sure what the trigger is.

Hmmm. I may try this.

What? Illusory walls in chalice dungeons? I never knew about this.

Anyone between the levels of 46 and 66 wanna help me beat this spider boss? I almost had him 3 times. Between the roll, the amount of minions it has or the stupid blue shit falling from the sky that seems nigh on impossible to dodge, I just can't do it. He keeps getting me when he's on his last fifth of health.

Somebody please save me from losing my mind. I'm standing at the fog door right now if anyone's willing.

Rom? I'll help you if you help me lol. I've been summoning on the fog door for a solid 10 minutes now.

e: nvm can't ring the resonant bell

Losing 50k echoes and 10 insight to that enemy almost made me quit entirely. it doesn't stop shooting that fucking missile that snares you until you get close/far enough either...

Yeah, it was pretty insane. Easily one of the hardest regular foes so far

Doesn't seem to be much of a benefit except for getting the stuff you missed on first walkthrough and leveling up your character.

The loot is pretty bad... in the early areas you are still getting regular old coldblood echoes when you could kill like 3 minions and get more echoes than using that one item. Runes are replaced with Madman's Knowledge which by now you would be at 99.

There are some different enemy placements and changes in the layouts.
For example, at Hemwick, those witches that the boss spawns as add ons appear in the area before you even get to the boss.

it is but it does a lot of damage too.

I wish I had gems with high hp recovery and some other bonuses. guess I'll have to grind chalice dungeons again until I get to depth 4 or 5.
I'd enjoy that much more if co-op was working properly or if you didn't need to finish 5 dungeons before getting the chalice to search co-op games.

Is it viable to go for a Vit/Dex/Blood build focused on the Chikage?

Yeah I had the same feeling. I reached Dark Souls 2s end with about 60 hours on the clock. On my first Bloodborne run I needed 36 hours even though I died many times at the beginning (and got flamed on by the hitbox.tv chat back then lol). My second NG run clocked in at 13 hours and I also did all the world bosses (+ optional). I think it's refreshing because you achieve something every second. :-)

So, I attacked Eileen early in the game and she killed me. Now she's gone when I went back for revenge. Will she show up again? (I'm at ROM).

Lvl 157 :O

I'm only lvl 48, and i had the audacity to think i messed up my build lol

it's shorter but I think it a lot of people probably missed the optional stuff

I hear that like half the bosses are optional. I am still very, very early in the game due to limited playtime, but it seems if you know where to go or get lucky in your path, it could be very short. Most blind playthroughs should see a lot of optional stuff I imagine.

Found a creepy looking NPC in the forest, attacked him
instead of telling him to go to Iosefka's or Oedon.

WTF dude turned into a huge electrified werewolf. I killed him (cheesed him really) but he was tougher than almost any normal enemy.

I guess I was right to kill him?

Any tips for Shadow of Yharnam? I got the Deep Sea and Clear Deep Sea Runes before him. Should I equip any of those?

Equip the charred hunter set, pick a target and go. The ones with katanas can be easily baited into a parry, though I clear the fireball guy first. Run out of aoe and go all out on the third phase.

I had to use a guide to find the optional areas. they are definitely well hidden. I guess From wanted to reward people who explored.

RE: Ebrietas: I'm not there yet but I watched a video (since I don't mind spoilers) and the player seemed to trivialize the fight by
using Bolt Paper on his weapon and then repeatedly rolling behind Ebrietas, trying to wedge himself alongside, or between, her two rear tentacles
. Yes, she'll occasionally relocate herself, but it seems like a strategy that could be replicated, even if much of her behavior is, well, random.

That happens in NG too. Not sure what triggers it, but they showed up for me. I guess it has to do with insight.

Let's do it. Will I help you first?

I edited the post, unfortunately I can't ring the resonant bell. Maybe it's cause I haven't beat the boss yet?

But sure, if you can ring it, let's do it. I'll help you after.

e: summoned someone lol

e2: and he died immediately! and i died immediately! well here i am, back, ringing the beckoning bell

I've heard about him, and yeah, you did the right thing.

I tried to find this guy last night, but post-Rom, he doesn't seem to be where I would think he is. I went up on the rooftop of the tower behind the guy with the cannon in the Forbidden Woods village. There were corpses up there, but the NPC was not present.

They showed up after you beat the boss not before though I guess having a particular amount of Insight might have changed things...

I feel like Bloodborne doesn't want me to play the bosses with maximum challenge.
I get that some of you are FROM game masters and are doing a lot of bosses first try etc.
And mastering the intended boss mechanics most of the time looks like a lot of fun.

I would love to practice each boss solo over and over until I master the mechanics and beat the boss fight. I would even stock up on potions so that I have lots of them and don't need to worry about replenishing them right away etc.

What I have no interest in doing is having some long several minute boss approach sequence every single time I wipe. I don't want to run across the map over and over again. Not being able to start directly at a lot of bosses and being forced to spend several "no fun" minutes getting back to them after spending 40 "no fun" seconds on a loading screen, really makes me totally un-interested in putting the time in to master each boss battle.

I'd rather summon help and get through it that way.

Gank squad makes me wonder why From cant just use targeting from DS1. Dear god the camera may as well be the biggest enemy in the game sometimes.

Can someone explain the benefits of NG+ to me? I know you can encounter new types of enemies you haven't seen prior, but do you also get new loot to find so you can feel a sense of progression?
no new loot, only more blood (more or less 10 times more) from enemies.

Those witches appeared earlier than that on my first playthrough. I encountered two of them as soon as I left the Cathedral Ward and first arrived in the woods. There must be something else that determines how early you encounter them. Insight, perhaps?

I'm currently using Cane, but I don't feel like I'm using it effectively. I don't enter Whip mode very often since the slower wind up often hurts me and it doesn't seem to give that much range (but I suspect that's just because I'm bad). Do you have any tips on using the cane? When it is best to use the whip and what are good times to switch mid combo? I find that anytime I try to do the switch attack I get hit during the change. Really slow switch.

I find it best to start from whip form and press L1 for a ranged quick stab, also you can keep enemies at a decent length, don't be afraid to swing early and have them walk into your combo until you're confident on the range.

Anyone want to help me with R
om
?

Try summoning without the password. I would normally love to help but I have not been able to connect with anyone using the password and I am prob too high of a level as well. Most summon players are pretty helpful. It normally takes 1 or 2 attempts with a summon player to reck the boss :)
