Damn. Was working on
Shadows of Yarhnam
on NG+ and had the last 2 down to a sliver, and the third dead and lost thanks to not coming in with enough potions :\

Bloodbornes lvl design is a league ahead of dark souls. i cant comprehend anyone saying the opposite. Esp from what i hear of the shortcut at the
forbidden woods

Rom
isn't a very hard boss, but he's probably the worst boss in the game. The ads do stupid amounts of damage, ads will off screen hit you and there's nothing you can really do about it, and his AOE stuff is surprisingly hard to run away from given its blast radius. It feels like there's a bit more luck required for him than other bosses, which makes him more frustrating than fun. He's not Bed of Chaos bad, but he's the worst put together boss in the game.
Nah dude, Rom rocks. Worst boss in the game is
The One Reborn
. So boring and uninteresting and doesn't even give you cool stuff to learn about lore.

can someone in NG+ confirm whether you can stack two of the exact same rune? For example two 15% stamina or 20% visceral attack damage. I don't think I've found any 'doubles' so far, just the same kind of different 'tier'.

Unless I'm missing what a "blood vial" is supposed to be, the Radiance rune does not give back more health from vials as advertised.

That's not really exciting though,
it's literally a straight ladder up which doesn't really make any kind of geographical sense. Certainly interesting story wise given the plague connection(
what's she been doing to the water
!) The connection between Blighttown and other locations in Dark Souls felt real and had a sense of history to them. You had to travel a fair bit of distance between them but in doing so you went through caves, man-made platforms and so on. Most of the connections in Bloodborne feel artificial. And that's also worth noting, I never did feel like I was that far away because the forest is right outside of the city. You don't really travel far outside of the carriage, and that's perfectly fine

Do you think maybe you feel this way because Yharnam is a developed steampunk/victorian city, as opposed to Lordran which was a medieval city in ruins?

I think I'm almost done. 26 hours, Level 73 and about to fight
Mergo's Wet Nurse
.

I definitely liked the game and the world, but compared to the souls games, it feels like a lot less. I honestly feel the critical praise had a lot to do it being a huge exclusive for the new platforms and with these games becoming more and more mainstream.

Yes, this is a different franchise and it should be judged based on what it is, but it's really a step back in so many ways.

I know it takes place in and around a city, but even DS2 felt like a massive world with hugely different areas and a crazy amount of enemy variety and content.

Bloodborne feels tiny in comparison. It's also significantly easier than any of the souls games.

You don't get doubles in NG+, they're replaced by skulls.

was it just me or is that boss this game's Pinwheel? It was even easier than the
Witch
.

Meanwhile delving into chalice dungeons I'm still fighting for my life against coked-up versions of earlier bosses like BSB. I've learned his moveset and parry timings very well but it's still intense toward the end.

Any info on what this so-secret it can't legally be disclosed game mechanic is yet?

It's seems kind of silly that we have people in NG+ and ++ already with no word on what it is or how to utilize it.

The Gatling gun sequence was really exciting and it was a fun set piece. Just wish there was more stuff like it. I don't think I'm overselling Dark Souls at all, it just took a lot more care in presenting a believable world.

And I'll do the chalice dungeons because of the bosses but random generation is awful and the few layers I played were completely unappealing atmospherically. Nice bricks though!

In terms of spacial design the limited scale of Dark Souls always made it feel less believeable to me, everything seems to happen more or less right next to everything else, the sense of scale in Bloodborne helps the areas feel more believeably real to me.

I spent ~50k to try out Ludwig's Holy Blade and I'm not fully sold on it. Obviously the greatsword moveset is fantastic on paper, but it seems a little slow for the range it has. The Hunter's Axe lacks the poke (except in combos and running attacks) but I feel the extra range makes up for it. Sticking with Kirkhammer as my main anyway.

Thanks. Trying to find these witches. Don't even know what area they're in

If you want help -
You can get to their area from the left of the Grand Cathedral. If you haven't found that yet, it's through the gate to the right as you exit the safe house church and then keep going up stairs.

Just beat
Martyr Logarius
on my first try. Not as hard as I was led to believe. His attacks were easy to avoid and I was able to get 3-4 hits in after he did his jumping attack.

It's funny that the boss that gave me the most trouble was the fucking Cleric Beast.

I felt like nothing in Dark Souls diverged too much in terms of consistency although that is a fair point. Dark Souls 2 definitely had the issue where it felt like 20 different countries were being squished into one land although that did have the excuse of separating many zones (ie, have to take a ship)

At the end of the day my main problem is I just don't think many of the levels were exciting to play. Most are too small or too linear and lacking in any kind of secrets. I gave the example on the last page but there's the huge build up to the
castle
you visit only for it to be two large rooms and a small outside area with some roofing. The levels just aren't given any room to breath or do anything interesting outside of aesthetics.

Yep, this is why I prefer Demon's Souls over Dark Souls. The former benefitted from the hub world design where it can make "unseen worldx outside the level that the player traverse. Meanwhile the latter feel to cramped with all the shits going on, making it feels like a potato land. If Dark Souls doesn't have the areas past Lord Vessel or expand them really greatly, it would make the scale much more fitting.

I fairly regret not putting points into arcane; now I'm locked onto my all-physical route, and I'm missing out on the cooler stuff like the "spells" and fire/bolt/arcane weapons and gems that I keep getting.

ENB's new video about H
emwick
is a great showcase of the detail put into this game. DS2 my ass- this blows anything previously made out of the water.

The only thing I'll say is that I don't think the end boss (either of 'em) music is anywhere as meaningful, emotional, or powerful as Gwyn's theme.

Some bosses had some epic music, but I never really got that beautiful, depressing, sadness I got from Maiden Astrea's or Gywn's theme (or even Sif's fight).

unseen village is a cunty place
do not like at all

Ooh I can definitely agree with that. That always bothered me about DkS, it never seemed like a real place because there were better any people and it was too cramped. I think Bloodborne really nails the atmosphere, but everything else? Eh, not quite as good.

It might be this. I have a friend who likes the designs in DS a lot more but he admitted that he like the fantasy/medieval setting more than the Bloodborne one.

Errrrrrr, my game is currently running at literally about 4 frames a second in the
unseen village
. Has been going on for a few minutes
