How does item respawning work in Chalice dungeons? If I find a dungeon with materials I need can I keep going through it or do I have to remake it?

Frenzy has absolutely ruined my appreciation for some of the areas of the game. Who thought this was a great mechanic? While other things in the game feel fair in terms of how they work, punishing you for summoning AND punishing you for NOT SUMMONING (if Frenzy is tied to Insight) seems like an absolute dick move. And NOT in the fun way.

Buy stuff with Insight?

Saw cleaver ... why ?? do you think I should change it ?

Not needed. Just parry with the gun. Learn the wind ups for his attacks - and shoot him about a second before it hits you.

Then dash in, press R1. Massive damage. Rinse and repeat. Even when he gets more aggressive, this still works. All 'human' sized or slightly larger enemies are susceptible to this. He's a great training dummy for the bosses/NPC hunters you'll face later who necessitate this approach. Makes the game much easier.

If you still struggle to get the timing right, try it out on the beast-men in the sewers. All normal enemies can be countered. The large thugs with the bricks are the easiest enemy in the game to pull it off on.

Holy shit, so all those times I went to Hunters Dream and there was a dialogue box, but nothing was being said was a bug? I just zoned in and the doll started talking, which I assume is what she was trying to do all those other times.

post patch-

Wow wait, so bosses can also be altered by insight?

I defeated what I think is one of the last few bosses
Mergo's Wet Nurse
and then stayed in the area to help some randoms kill it.

But:

When I fought her. She would only summon a clone when she used that weird purple fog skill

Then I helped a random. Fight starts the same, but after her fog/clone attack she continued to summon the clone (which actually killed me as I wasn't expecting it).

Then I helped another random and this time she never used her clone, not even during her fog attack

Weird

Need some advice on what to do first

I am level 18...
and I can either go to Old Yarnham or go up to fight the Amelia boss, where should I go first?

I FUCKIN FUCKEDY FUCK HATE THIS GAME !!!!!

can someone please help me with a strategy for killing the
second boss
in the game ?? I think his name is
Father something
??

I like to think of that fight as a range fight. If you go to far from him he will shoot, if you come too close and start hacking away, he will just overpower you. I didn't use the
magic box
during phase 3, but apparently that helps to finish him off. I just exploited his attack patterns, and charged attack with the axe basically. Even during phase 3, when he went berserk. You can lock on, and run near him, to bait his combo attack, but make sure to back dash and leave the general area while he attacks and wait til he finishes, be in the general area near him, and charge attack.

Wow. This game holds no punches on New Game Plus. Brutally difficult, and that's coming from someone who didn't struggle much in the main game. So much harder than New Game Plus in Dark Souls or Dark Souls II.

First hour spoiler :
How do I get there ? I came back here after 100 hours and I just found out that I missed that ledge. There's two items over there ! I looked over all sewer access and there is nothing that goes up there.

Go to shortcut you made when you opened the door at the start of the game. Go up the stairs to the bridge. Right and then right again and down stairs. turn right. break stuff and down.

I was suprised to see my Ludwig's Blade +10, which was dominating the initial run taking 4-5 hits to kill the starting enemies in Central Yharnam.

what's the max layer chalice dungeons can have? That fourth layer earlier threw me for a loop

Dodge, dodge and dodge!

Tried rolling, tried running, tried side-stepping. Nothing works, it comes in three volleys, and one volley is instant death. I'm probably just going to cheese the fuck out of this POS fight, especially since I got stuck in a wall with her on 10% Health the last time I did it.

I'd still say the Shadows are the worst boss fight in the game, but at least they didn't wear out their welcome like this.

Goddamn, what the hell is up with
Nightmare of Mensis?
. Seriously? First there's the
frenzy shit in the beginning
, followed by those 3 enemies. And when killing those enemies they eject these fucking
snakes
that do way too much damage for my own good. After a couple of times I just said 'fuck it' and made a run for it. Made it, came into the big building where I see these huge
spiders together with an even bigger momma spider.
Went up the stairs, see a
hunter
, he had 1% of HP left, placed an insane combo attack on me and killed me, while having 100% HP left.

I'm done for the night, just fuck it.

Just re-enter and go through it again. Everything respawns.

edit: At least I think everything respawns. Don't quote me on that!

edit 2: Hmm, it appears they don't? I was under the impression items did.

One complaint i have about Bloodborne, is the small sewer level. I love sewer levels in games( i'm especially fond of DkS sewers), and was majorly dissapointed.

what do you mean by the
magic box
??
thanks for the help lads... well try it tomorrow after work

Should I go to Old Yarnham or take the stairs up in the cathedral area?

I think by "OY" the earlier poster meant old yarnham. Also, I agree with them.

I think he meant
music box
and you can get it from a window with a light by it in the area. effect:
it will stun him, but if you use it three times before he is in beast mode it will put him in beast mode, whatever health he is at.

I guess this probably had something to do with lag but I returned to my world after trying to help someone with a boss and when I did I just... mysteriously died. for no reason.
