A new Attack was
that he spawned a "stick" on the ground, which was constantly shooting red missiles at me. I had to attack the stick to destroy it. He was doing this a couple of times. Any1 seen that on a first playtrough or with not that many insight?

That was in the first play through as well. It's shooting swords I believe.

weight potion so he doesnt stun, not cheesy :p just using what the game has to offer ( still stuns sometimes but its much easier ) i had a lot of points in hp so i could kinda "tank" some hits

that's cool :P i can get it down to 1/3 so after that i will just drink some lead to finish the deal

Holy cow, I'm very bad at this game. I didn't encounter the
Cleric Beast
until I had been running my head against
Father Gascoigne
for several hours. Still have yet to beat anything.

Unbreakable will and all.

I couldn't beat
wet nurse
with coop, but found it very easy solo. She had a different moveset coop. Strange. Now to wrap up some loose ends before i finish the game.

Man, Abhorrent Beast. Jesus Christ the difficulty ramp up in these Chalice Dungeons is fucking ridiculous

Edit: lol the post above me. Care to share?

wow just beat him. didnt have chance to use the lead potion though ;p
did pretty good in this fight. Lv 69, BoM

most likely you encountered a bug and AI became dumb.

Man the
blood starved beast
is absolutely kicking my arse. I think I need to raise my endurance cos I can't deal with its charge attack at the moment.

Whelp, I explored all the areas left in Cathedral Ward, unlocked the Forbidden Woods lantern and ended up being teleported to the Nightmare Brygenwerth after I used that stone in that room with the frenzy guy. Looks like I'm finally in two of the areas that I see people complain about being difficult the most :D

I got
Rom
down to 10% this time. I went with the more aggressive strategy that a lot of you guys were saying to use. I'm sure I will kill him today or tomorrow. Time to take a break though.

Ok so its getting a little annoying being summoned and then standing around for inordinate amounts of time, while I presume the host is trying to summon someone else. Just had a guy stand there for pretty close to 10 minutes.

I waited there a few minutes, got bored and ran back through the stage, killed a few scrubs, ran back, guy was still standing in the same spot, so I fired my silencing blank and left.

Fuck that shit. Its my time as well. I don't mind people trying to get another player, thats fine, but theres gotta be a point where you say fuck it, lets get on with it. Especially if there's another player in your game already.
Besides it was for SOY, where just having 1 more makes it 10 times easier.

Another guy took ages as well, but he got the point after i used up my whole stamina bar rolling into the fog door a few times.
I then proceeded to fuck up and die and not be much help at all. Oops

Getting
Rom
in the Chalice Dungeon was hilariously easy. Since he couldn't just keep backing up forever and there's walls I killed him in like 1.25 phases. Just wrecked him and then
when he ported away got a ton of hits in and when he appeared right by me, since the room is so small, I just immediately smoked him before he could do anything.
Way easier than the normal fight.

dodge/roll forward and left, never backwards
I'll give that a try now actually, thanks! I have been going backwards tbh which has ended up with me getting poisoned and then destroyed.

Pillars are your greatest ally in that fight.
I keep getting trapped by them, but I haven't really been playing that defensively against it so I'll change tactics and utilise them more. Thanks for the advice

No they are not. Its just takes to long and you dont have enough time to strike (enough).

Just Lock on him, stay close and use the short version of your weapon (is quicker) Try to get behind him. And to finish him off use molotovs :)

You can kite the spiders quite easily. The room you have to fight in is huge, spiders will follow you so you can pick em off one by one. Rom wont follow.
Finish of the spiders, get Rom alone, next wave rinse and repeat.

Pillars are your greatest ally in that fight.

Or your greatest enemy, since it's easy to get stuck with a pillar behind your back if you're not paying attention. Especially since the camera can get extremely annoying if that happens and you can't figure out where to jump/roll while it spazzes around crazily.

Uggghhh, I'm sitting here at work thinking about what my next build is gonna be, continue with my NG+ pure skill build? Or start a new quality build?

I'm gonna mainly use the burial blade, & maybe the lugwig sword occasionally, the burial blade scales like shit with strength so a quality build would be near useless unless I pump gems into it to increase its strength scaling, but it would be more efficient to use those gem slots into improving skill scaling from B to S, Lugwig though is a true quality weapon (& arcane too), so a quality build for it would be helpful, but I'm not sure that's enough to compensate for the loss of dps from the burial blade, bumping more gemstones to make it scale S with skill would be best.

So is pure skill definitely the best build for the burial blade?

I don't know how to deal with
vicar amelia
. She keeps one-shotting me. I'm using the cane and blades of mercy. any tips?

The Skill Scaling gems are garbage. Even with 50 Strength and 50 Skill none of the gems give even close to as much +ATK as the just plain +ATK or +Phys ATK on any weapon.

Also Arcane scaling is crap. At 50/50 And 40 Arcane (which only affects Arcane/Fire/Bolt Damage) +10 Ludwig's with 3 x18% = 200+575, 775 total. Switching it to Arcane damage: +306 bonus with an 18% Arcane gem and 2 ATK up +15 gems. That's only 506 total. It'd be slightly higher with 3x 18% gems and 50 Arcane, but not nearly close enough to close the gap. Not to mention when you switch it to Arcane damage you lose the ability to use Fire/Bolt/Arcane buffs on it which makes the gap widen even further and you lose versatility.

Finally managed to save up the echos to buy
Ludwig's Holy blade
and upgraded it to +6 immediately. Wow in
"great sword mode"
this thing rocks.

I'm 20 hours in and just killed
Vicar Amelia
. I've spent roughly 10 hours actually progressing the game and 10 hours just grinding levels. I'm now
level 47
and I'm worried I may be over-leveling and find the end game content a bit easy.

So far
Gascgoine, BSB and Vicar A
have all went down on my first attempt. My only real deaths are being swarmed by mobs or gravity deaths.

Just deafted the
blood starved beast
in the church of the good chalice but don't know where to go.

Go back to the cathedral ward & then go left > then right. Or go fight the optional boss by going right from the cathedral ward & let
the body snatchers kill you
.

Go back to Cathedral Ward and head right.

Or go ahead and beat VA at the Grand Cathedral to open up more paths.

What level are you? How high is your endurance?

She's weak against Fire so stock up your Fire Paper, bring out the Flamethrower (you can get it from free from a window guy very near Central Ynarham lamp), and prepare your molotovs and oil if you have them.

Here ya go. Figured this would be easier than me typing it all out. He rips his arms off after the second visceral attack. Did you just keep going for his tail majority of the time? I tried doing that but kept getting stepped on. Came so close to beating him.
QfOlVpXl.png
Yeah basically. Works most of the time though a stray arm or his foot will still clip me once in a while. He also starts to spam his jump attack as his health goes down. He seems to take more damage to the head though so I may farm for chunks and try the rifle spear or something with a bit more range.

Really? I didn't get any high end gems yet so I didn't know that. So pumping +ATK gems is better than improve scaling to S?

Are the +ATK gems stackable? Do they scale with the base damage? base + attribute bonus? Or stackable with everything including another +ATK gem?

Lv 25-ish. I mostly leveled skill so far with just a few points in Endurance. maybe 12-13? I already have the flamethrower but dont like using it because of the high ammo consumption, but I'll try fire Paper, thanks.

I'm finding it very easy to just charge through areas and avoid all the enemies. I usually only do this once I've cleared them once, died and want to recollect my blood echoes.

Can anyone advise whether or not this is a bad idea? I don't want to be underlevelling myself because I'm avoiding so many confrontations but at the same time it can be a chore to keep restarting the same encounters over and over again.

It's stackable. I got 2 18% attack on my Blade of Mercy.

It helps, really. I suggest you bring it to the fight.

its one of the strategy to keep player's sanity. But dont do it too much since this is not a running game ;p

I can see that I'm going to be asking the same question for each and every boss, but if I don't I'm going to trade this game back due to the frustration. What's the strategy for
Vicar Amelia? I leveled my axe massively and even bought the holy sword because I heard it staggered her. I can't level the sword cause I'm missing the blood things, so it's very weak. My axe is extremely strong but really does nothing to her.

Yes, really, the Skill gems are all junk. The +ATK gems are all stackable and they improve the Bonus ATK. Note that Physical ATK gems affect all Physical and Blood ATK. just "+ATK" Gems affect *all* types of ATK.

One problem with the Scythe is that, in the main game, there's only 1 +15% ATK Gem and there's 2 +18% Phys ATK Gems (+ some 19s with bad effects). You can get more with NG+ or higher and better with doing Chalice Dungeons.

Like I said in the post above, my +10 Ludwig's at 50/50 is 775 ATK (200 base + 575 bonus with 3x +18% Phys ATK gems).

Comparing the Burial Blade to it with 50/50 and 40 Arcane: +10 Burial Blade with 3x 18% Phys = 160 +337 / Arcane = 60 +29 = 586. Scythe with 1x 18% Phys and 2x 15% ATK = 160 + 312 / 60 + 58 = 590

Guessing if you had 3x 18% pure ATK gems (not sure if there are any) and Arcane at 50 instead of 40 it'd be about 650 total at the most.

Not sure what the best gems you can get from Chalice Dungeons are. I've seen 21.8% Phys ATK mentioned here before. Not sure if there's any higher.

Dammit, I permanently lost like 7000 Blood Echoes on those weird cleaver wielding human beasts in the sewers in Yarnham. I had no idea they could kill you so quickly. Like one enraged flurry of slashes was enough. Going to try and take on that big ogre hammer wielding thing now.

What is a good level to do the first chalice dungeon?
I mean, for a mediocre player, like me.

Should I use the
frenzied
blood echoes item or keep it?
I'm still heading to A
melia
, I have no idea what
frenzy
does. I'd like to keep spoiler free, if possible.

Quoting myself for help.
