I just got the item "
a call beyond
" and it requires Arcane 40 Lolz. Has anyone tried it? Is it good? It says in the description that it "
create a small star explosion
".

No, it's freaking horrible. Long cast time, easily interruptable, and hardly does any damage while taking 8 bullets to use.

Absolute trash compared to just using Bullets with the Cannon.

14's the highest rating I have, but they vary a lot.

Here's some of the 14's:

Phys ATK +12.6%
Phys ATK +12.6% + Other Bonus
Phys ATK +18%
Phys ATK +19.8% + Disadvantage Stats like HP drain or Weapon durability
Blood ATK +21.6%
Arcane ATK +18%

I guess I just have to do more Chalice dungeons and get more data.

I think it also depends on the shape, so far from the gems I have, radiant seems to be best for dps, & waning is best for arcane.

any good places to farm molotoves?

Buy them for blood echoes. I honestly think farming consumables is not worth it in this game since they all are reasonably cheap to buy in the Hunter's Dream.
Case in point I just bought a full stock of blood vials for like 50k echoes. Thats like 2 1/2 levels for me but considering how quick you can level up in this game it is not that much of a loss.

Really? I thought that fight was super easy. Just run around and attack from behind.

What are you having trouble with specifically?

I think it may depend on how much you have invested into vitality, the missiles can easily one shot you if you have relatively low vitality and the AOE blast is also very damaging.

I can't remember exactly how much vitality I had, roughly 30, but the missile salvo only left me with a sliver of remaining health if it fully hit, which was quite often!

I am so fucking mad at the person designed
Rom,
this fight is fucking annoying and unfair.

And also fuck these slowdowns I seem to get everytime I get through the fog gate.

Every fucking time I get staggered and killed instantly, either because of the
spiders or his arcane
attacks

Killed him in one attempt, not sure what all the fuss is about with him really. It wasn't a quick fight in any way shape or form(I killed every last one of his friends) but patience paid off in spades against him.
Basically my strategy was to constantly be circle strafing around him, this way his projectiles will always miss you and take out his little spider buddies one by one. Once they were all dead I moved in and out as he did his AOE attack. Rinse and repeat until dead.

First souls game, got it this morning took a day off work to relax and decided to play it.

Game is incredibly hard but if you persist you pick it fairly quickly. Well I'm awful but starting to get the hang of it

Is there any gem that adds Arcane/Fire/Shock damage without removing Physical?

I still don't get how the Arcane scaling work in these cases. Is the best way of approach getting 3 +% Arc/Fire/Shock gems and raising my Arcane stat to get decent damages?

I'm using a Ludwig+10 and 3 Phys ATK +19% gems. I have 30 on both STR and SKL and 20 on ARC. Even though the Ludwig scales A with Arcane, these 20 points didn't make any difference regarding bonus damage. Does Arcane only count if I use a Paper or insert Elemental/Arcane gems?

This is mi first From game as well. I'm absolutely loving it! Be patient and you'll eventually start to be good at it. I've played about 20hrs and just killed the 4th boss, lol. Many people here killed it in less than 10h.

Ludwig's has no base arcane damage. If you were using something like the Burial Blade that has built in arcane damage then it would scale. Fire, Arcane and Bolt damage will scale. Physical damages won't. So yes, you would need a gem. With the way the weapons work though unless you get a flat physical damage increase in the gem along with the new type all damage will be converted to the new type.

A question: How do people farm for chalice dungeon materials? where is a good place to do it?

in the chalice dungeons themselves..once ou get the first one from BSB you can go to town..there are exceptional items you can find in other levels but everything you need ot get started and keep goign will be in the dudgeons for the most part.

I tried that my last attempt, it worked really well, but still I get killed. I need to be more careful. Will try to kill him later.

WTF. I don't get why ppl bother
with the spiders. Beat Rom in second attempt without hitting one single spider. When i get summoned to help ppl i take off almost 30 % of Roms health in my first contact, only to see the the summoner slashing away at random spiders, far away from Rom himself and eventuelly get killed by them. Fight could be over way quicker when both focus on Rom)

i don't know how to spoiler tag but its best to take out the dudes up top first think demon's souls tower

write [spoiler'] >text goes here< [/spoiler'] > remove the ' . Or just mark the sentence you want to spoiler and use the white "S" with the black border over the text box.

Is there any disadvantage to arcane damage over physical?
I got a pretty good % arcane gem that I was considering putting in my Kirkhammer, since the arcane damage will be higher than the physical with my current gems.

Yea i did the same. Only in the chalice dungeon where the area is much smaller i dispatched some of the spiders before killing him.

I started an arcane build yesterday & got 1/4 of the way through the game.

Arcane scaling works completely different to other stats, as soon as you put an elemental gem into a weapon, that weapon's base damage is converted into that element, & then you get scaling bonus of that element based on your arcane stat, also, physical gems do absolutely nothing once you put an elemental gem into a weapon because that weapon's base damage has been converted into elemental, so 15% of 0 damage is still zero.

The flamethrower, Hunter's torch, & molotovs do insane damage with the arcane build though, & elemental weapons do great damage if you find an enemy's weaknesz, the best strategy would be to carry one fire weapon & one bolt weapon. Keep in mind that you don't get the cool fire/bolt effects with the blood gemstones, which was the reason why I abandonned my arcane build.

Quick question if someone has an answer.
in what looks like a secret area where wet nurse boss is located. The one where you take the elevator down and roll into an opening. I found a lever which dropped a big blob like creature down a hole. What is this? Can i fight it?

There is maybe one thing that requires NG+.
Endings
can be save scummed. It is really painless if you don't care for going the honest road.

How do you do this? How do you back up your save to usb? How do you then restore or overwrite it later from usb? Thanks!

On my successful attempt, I only
took out the very first wave of spiders since Rom won't attack at that point anyway, so it was nice to just have a clean starting point. Focusing on spiders after that only made me a target for his homing icicle attack, though, which meant an instant death if I got unlucky. Focusing on Rom was more productive and less tedious
.

You just killed it so no need to fight, go to where the blob was to get a Blood Stone Rock to level a weapon to +10, the only 1 in the game(maybe more in Chalice?).

No disadvantage unless that weapon scales better with another stat or you have a higher strength level.

Yes, need to fight it. It's not actually dead, just fell down. The area where you take second elevator and there are bottomless pits all over the ground, there will now be a cage you can go into and use like an elevator. Leads to a dark area, with only you and the brain. Use the make contact gesture for 2 minutes to receive a rune, also kill the giant brain to get a living string.

As I'm usually paranoid about missing content in games, I keep missing the spots that open the shortcuts. I venture forward at junctions because I just wanna get a feel for what's behind the corner, and die. I then respawn all the way up to the last lantern and I discover that just behind the door I didn't open, there was the lever.
My advice: this is NOT a linear game in concept, it's a circular one.

Got it. And are there any flat damage gems?

No fancy Fire/Shock effects?Aww :<
But good to know how it works, I'll try having 3 versions of my weapons then, Phys/Shock/Fire. Just need to discover where to farm Chunks and Rocks

Anyone have an extensive guide to how co-op with a friend?

More relevant right now -- can as a level 103 character in NG+ go help my level 96 buddy on his first run? He was on the grind hard -- still hasn't beaten Vicar Amelia, it's kind of absurd -- I was hoping I could just run through the rest of the game with him If I kept my character level pretty even.

My single attempt was probably as fast, if not faster than your two. Whatever works for you though, I'd never seen the fight and as such decided to be cautious. I found a strategy that seemed to working and stuck to it.

I used the hunters axe in it's 2 handed state. Just run up to him, charge the R2 and let it swing. And repeat, and repeat. Did it in 2 trIES

Killed the Cleric Beast on my second try. Had to use up 5 molotov's and about 10 blood vials. Whoops. Hopefully I didn't waste too many that could have come in handy later...

Unseen village
is the best place to farm them early in the game.

I spend the better part of yesterday night fighting my way through the Forbidden Woods, this area makes me wish this game had a map because it is confusing as fuck, but eventually I found the boss of the area, the Shadows of Yarnam, did well enough on my first try until
the last shadow summoned a giant snake that can apparently one-hit kill me, shit was so infuriating

This Boss battle is so far the worse I've had, fighting multiple enemies that are constantly rushing at you shows that this game's mechanics are much better suited for 1-on-1 encounters. I've done worse and worse each time I've tried, but at least now I manage to memorize the route to the Boss.

Any tips on how I should be approaching this one? I tried summoning help, but couldn't get anyone to show up, I'm wondering how that works, would the bell attract helpers anywhere on the woods or you have to be close to them physically where they would appear? if so then it maybe be best to stay near the lantern to wait for summon.

If I don't level up bloodtinge at all, will there eventually be a point where I can't use it to parry/riposte? Or can I go through the whole game without levelling it and still be find, assuming I'm only using the gun to parry/riposte; not cause damage.
