Tbh, I'm at NG with 70 or so insight and I doesn't feel "hard" at all. Is it confirmed it increases difficulty?

I've read that people get "easier" attack-patterns, but maybe it's just by chance?
its definitely confirmed that certain enemies dont even appear based on insight, and frenzy damage scales directly with insight

How can I reach Lecture building from Grand Cathedral?

You don't get there through the Cathedral. You need
a special stone you get from NPC's later, which takes you to first floor Lecture if you allow yourself to be grabbed by the monster to the right of Grand Cathedral. After that, you'll naturally get to Lecture building floor 2 later in the game
.

I'm level 66 with Ludwig +9 in NG+ getting raped by cleric beast

Should I start with a new character or just level up?

So when you guys say a weapon "scales" with a particular attribute, does this mean it gets more powerful as you raise that attribute? I bought Ludwig's Blade and I see a lot of people mentioning it's an awesome weapon, but it's still weaker than my Hunter Axe, which has a lower attack rating than the sword.

But I see people saying it scales with STR/SKL. So if my SKL is raised, will the blade be more powerful? How do you know when a weapon scales so I don't buy weapons that don't compliment my STR build.

Haha!

Trolling people by rolling up in co-op with the shield equipped and charging in all shields up, dark souls style is hilarious. That is before switching to dual wield and proceeding to lay down a wooping of course

It depends on both your stats and the weapon base damage. Is the axe upgraded more?

Press square on the weapon, look around for letters like A,B,C,D. There's a symbol next to these letters. That's the stat it scales with. Also, note that arcane scaling only comes into effect if you use a magic damage buff like fire paper on your weapon or if you put a gemstone to put an element on it(Which will cancel out the physical scaling, so it's not advised.)

One last u
mbilical cord
question.

I actually just got all four umbilical cords. Used the first three, figured I'd go check out Iosefka, and sure enough she dropped the fourth one. Should I use it to just to be on the safe side for the true ending?

what are the letters for?

Yes!! Beat the second boss (Father G) on my first try. Phew. I didn't even realise I came up to the area with the boss. Totally sprung it on me when the cut scene started. Luckily I had enough molotovs and blood vials.

damn, I started new game+ at 96 with a +10 burial blade, and cleric beast still tanked hits for a long time.

The villagers drop tons of echoes now though, farming levels should go pretty quick

After beating Amelia on the first try my confidence level was at an all-time high. Then the witches were a joke, though that area did have some challenges.

Now continually lost and getting ganked in The Forbidden Forest. Like three different paths I don't know where they lead and carrying around so many souls every step gives me a heart attack.

Anyone can game share to help me kill Cleric Beast?

Step your game up!

But seriously, if you are having a tough time go farm some blood, level up and come back to it. The entire opening section is incredible and that fight pretty much sets the tone for the entire game. If you can't get through it you are most likely going to have a very rough experience with the rest of the game.

Oh shit, nearly lost close to 300k echoes.
shadow triplets
killed me, so I ran back there and frantically searched for my puddle of blood while being attacked. Mannaged to run to a corner and reawaken just in time.

Phew.

I did a blind run because its was my first time so I missed a lot of shit ):

I'll try to level up then. And holy shit at 96 and still having trouble with him x_x

Wow this new health system is starting to annoy me. So after I repeatedly die to a boss and end op with zero blood vials and zero blood echoes, I'm supposed to leave that arrea to go farming? That really sucks. I miss the bonfire checkpoint system :-(

On the status screen there's a category for "special" attacks. It's either 0-4, 2-4, or 4-4 depending on the gem. Anyone know what this refers to?

Man.. fuck the
Bloodletting Beast
. I've killed all the story bosses and this chalice boss is the only one so far that is a major pain in the ass.

Any tips? I am level 97ish and he just crushes me.

Where is it? I can't find a map that shows it.

After you beat BSB go back to the cathedral ward. The door to the healing church workshop will now be opened. Reach the tower, drop all the way down. Fight the baphometh guy. Go through the door, turn left at the end of the street (not the alley). There's an elevator.

After about 10 or so deaths I FINALLY BEAT THAT MOTHER FUCKING BSB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The general extreme fogginess of like every area is just great. I am sure that is causing a lot of the performance problems. That and the extreme amounts of foliage. From Soft just said fuck it we aren't downgrading any grass or fog anywhere y'all can deal with this shit.

Haha yeah they were probably thought 'No one is calling us out for a downgrade'

Just defeated the Cleric Beast on my second try. Used a bunch of molotov's to take him down. The camera still sucked.

Whenever the camera is sucking, I turn off lock-on.

Sometimes it's like a different game. Like you get one action game when you use lock-on, and a totally different action game when you have lock-on switched off.

The Cleric Beast became immediately, and massively easier for me when I stopped locking on and the camera was free. I do the same for a couple of other enemy types, and with them it always helps.

First time? Wow Nib thats awesome.

Also playing with NO HUD is

Awesome, and terrifying.

The realization that camera locking is just another tool, good in some situations, bad in others does wonders to you surviving stuff that you otherwise wouldn't in souls games.

If you are locking 100% every enemy you are doing it wrong. Same goes for pvp!

Your entire moveset is dependent on locking as well i.e. your running and backhop R1 are vastly different.

Use Pungent Blood Cocktails when you want to heal, it's attracted to them. I noticed the one in the later Chalice Dungeons is a lot more aggressive.

You can even use them for a cheeky Visceral Attack if you time a charged R2 properly. (From behind)

The side quests are annoying me so much on the first playthrough. I already fucked up 3 of them.

Do not sweat it. No one is truly able to complete the side quests in From Software Souls style games on their first play through. Just enjoy the first round of the game knowing there is more on your next go around.

I don't think this is true or good advice.

There are a few people in these threads who found the third boss far easier than the first, and a couple even mentioned having little trouble with the second boss (which I find very surprising). (Though yes by later in the game things will be very difficult - hopefully one will improve a lot as a player by then.)

Also, up to a certain point, levelling doesn't affect your performance that much. I overlevelled quite a lot, and I was struggling with the second boss at level 21. Then my (very experienced DaS player) friend beat him at level 12 without too much difficulty.

It's all about strategy. Try fighting the boss with lock-on on and off, try it mixing up different moves and weapon strategies, try using certain items, or look for new armour. There are so many better ways than just 'level up a bit'.

That said... Share playing your way out of problems, fanto, is not the answer either! Perservere, concentrate, and try different strategies. It'll happen.

Yes!

The pig looks scary, but if you time it right you can sprint behind him and perform a backstab on him. Then enjoy sticking your hand right up his ass.

I did this by accident first time and literally shuddered.

The pig is really easy once you get the strategy down, though. (Guess that goes for every enemy in the game.) Protip:
run straight at the pig and jump/roll past him when he goes to attack. Then spin to lock on to him and do a hold-R2 strong attack. You'll stun him and can visceral him. Down in a oner.

In the sewers/aqueducts there is a section where a dead body is surrounded by loads of enemies in the water. They are seemingly inactive. What do you get from that body, and are the enemies there hard to kill?

I am pretty sure the item is not too important but the enemies are not too difficult with a long weapon with hard attack.
