Fire Emblem If (2 versions: ¥4700 game, ¥1852 other ver content DLC, ¥1852 3rd DLC)

is the game gonna be released as physical ?
just like pokemon games ?
if they released as retail card , how they gonna know you bought the game and give you discount ?
retail games not associate in the account or the system it self
 
Part of me is think that's why there's such a gap between the US and JP release dates. They probably are going to give us 1 version containing both games and they didn't want the JP players to import the US version.
 
I usually worry about story splitting like this, but that's only because it's usually not handled well. We can assume from the title that this was the intention from the beginning, but I hope it wasn't the other way around, with pressure to sell more games influencing such a decision. Still, I'm willing to give IS the benefit of the doubt. Everything else about the game looks fantastic!

I'm also optimistic on this; they did not mention it in the other directs, which probably means they're undecided on how to approach this in the west.
If it really is going to be two different products, I sure as hell Nintendo would sell that point full tilt (WE ARE RELEASING TWO NEW FIRE EMBLEM TITLES FOR YOU!)

Edit: I don't know how Awakening's DLC did over here. Maybe they're using that data to guage which markets will be willing to purchase two different versions
 
I mean they already had two different routes in Sacred Stones. In one game.

I guess they want to scam more money from gullible fans.
 
they didn't mention this in the direct for the US so i hope its just one game here. I hope that fire emblem isn't successful enough where they can milk it with 2 versions like they do with pokemon
 
Ok, after watching both the EU and US videos again the US one makes it very clear that your route is decided by your choices, the EU version is worded the same HOWEVER the one difference I noticed is that at the point where the screen splits to black and white on the EU stream it says Fire Emblem Hoshido and Fire Emblem Nohr but on the US one it just says Hoshido and Nohr instead.

This is what we got on the EU stream:

So yeah, confusing mess pretty much sums this up. JP stream says two games, US game implies one game, EU stream implies one game but could also imply two games.
 
Oh... It sounds like it should be one game with different paths. Hmm, interesting.

And if it's coming on 2016, it's either one of the last 3DS games or Nintendo is keeping it alive longer than most are expecting.
 
So it looks like they're trying the same route that Sacred Stones did i.e. two different routes for what was the same story with differing perspectives. That's interesting by itself but i'm not a fan of the main character being you as opposed to a character within the story who has their own personality, background, visual representation, etc. Not sure how to feel about this two version release, honestly.

Actually, maybe NoA and NoE are trying to get a better deal for us? Just like how FE:A's DLC was packed and discounted, unlike the Japanese FE:A DLC which was sold all separately and therefore cost more. Maybe they'll try to get the storylines in the same cartridge...hopefully.
 
Here's what I don't understand...I was watching the Japanese direct and they had the same blurb about how you were born in the Light Country but raised in the Dark Country...does that origin apply to both version or is it implying that the West is getting only 1 side of the story?

Here's also the Japanese price breakdown:

1 game: 4700 yen
Buying the other version as DLC: 1852 yen
The third storyline: 1852 yen
"Play the beginning portion and pick the scenario" download version: 4700 yen
Limited edition (white + black + special reward + large DLC): 9250 yen
 
Really excited for this.

It kind of reminds me of the structure of Radiant Dawn, how you switch between a few different armies throughout the game. Guessing it's going to be like that game, except with more permanent (and probably more severe) outcomes once you've picked your path.

That is one of the best things about both Awakening and If. RPGs should allow the player to actually... you know, role play. An avatar character is essential for that.
 
I mean Nintendo HAS to know what Fire Emblem is not that popular here in the west to warrant two different games right? I worked for Zelda, it works for Pokemon but not for Fire Emblem.

I....agree and disagree. Sometimes not having an Avatar but a character grounded in the world works very well, like in The Witcher. As long as you get to make decisions it's still roleplaying. It's all about how the game is structured.
 
I'm reading 4700 yen per campaign, 1852 for each campaign separately as a discount for purchasing one, and all 3 are bundled as a special package for 9250 yen.

I really doubt these will be released together in the US I'd they're charging this much for the Japanese version.

It could be over a year before it's available in west. I think it's actually just that they haven't decided whether to sell the game in one or two packages in west. Probably depends on how dead 3DS is then too.

Consider me milked; I'm buying it all. After a lifetime of scepticism and befuddlement I think I finally understand the Pokémon crowd.

(In all seriousness, from only watching the NA stream it seemed abundantly clear a single game was on the way. A complete edition would make the most sense; even for a Fire Emblem addict the piecemeal DLC strategy for Awakening went too far.)

And someone mentioned that we aint getting it till 2016 cuz they dont want Japan to import our completed version...that's what region lock is for i guess :\

This DLC crap is bad IMO... couldn't they make one path open and the other paths close until you finish the game once....

Can't believe Nintendo is milking a franchise now....

Most of the FE main characters are bland as hell anyway so I don't really care about it being a created character.

Chrom was so lame he didn't even get to be playable in Smash.
 
The fact that they kinda lucked out with FE:A being a success in NA, and them not mentioning ANY of that stuff in the NoA Direct make me inclined to believe that they really are weary about the idea of splitting the game up upon localization.

See, I'm worried we're only getting that 3rd version, and missing out on big chunks that'd be present in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th options.
Not too worried about that 3rd storyline, but I think we're gonna be missing out big chunks from the Hoshido/Nohr stories.
 
The real question is do I play as the very fucking awesome Female design, or is my desire to be called onii-chan greater than that?

The struggle is real.
