Illusory Revelations#FE (SMTxFE) - First Trailer, Winter 2015 [Up: Screenshots]

I realize if this was an original IP by Nintendo x Atlus people would probably be way more hyped here for an original Wii U RPG.

Wait, looking at that official website's blog post, I think my assumption was totally off base: the producer for this game is Shinjirou Takada, producer for the Devil Survivor team. Need to wait for a proper translation I guess, but does this mean that this isn't actually Team Maniax's project and that the DS team are the people involved with it?

Game was always going to be the Devil Survivor team developing it. Every other team at Atlus is busy with other games. DS team has done nothing since DS2 (3DS port probably didn't take up much staff) and that came out in 2011. That's 4 years without a game (because they've been making this).

It also made sense initially since they were the tactics team at Atlus and FE is tactics, but then this game isn't tactics so yeah, lol.

I love Devil Survivor so that's enough to get me interested in this one even if visually it looks like a mess of styles that don't mesh.

lol this is too perfect.

Looks fucking great. Sure the first half of the trailer was a bit jarring, but the combat scenes were fucking incredible. That's what you'll be doing over 70-80% of the game. Get with it.

That's a bit harsh... but yeah, I might have been wrong in thinking this is what Team Maniax is working on, and there is something that makes a bit more sense if the Devil Survivor team were the ones heading this.

I ignored them when I listed P Studio and the Etrian Odyssey because I couldn't envision them working on what was previously known as "SMTxFE"... Wonder what Team Maniax is doing, then.

well those Persona 5 demon models won't be limited to one game.

I seriously think they might bait and switch. The characters probably have to go to a more SMT styled Tokyo in order to fight stuff maybe.

Of course, and the assumption was always that those are the models that will be shared with future games that use them. I don't think that they're working on SMTV, however, and that's what makes me more curious now.

Can't believe how disappointed I was. Guess FE really is dead for me, was hoping after Awakening they'd switch it up, go back to the old, anything really, but no they doubled down on it, to the point of making even this otaku-bait.
I was looking forward to this so much from that first teaser, but this is everything I hate from JP media all in one package.

Yes, I'm beyond salty but I guess I should be used to it. What a shame.

So I'm assuming the actual FE game that was shown today did nothing for you?

I'd say it fits FE:A (only FE I played, because of the SMT4 promotional), but I can see this game escalating to become more SMT influenced as it goes on.

I can tell a lot of people has expectations this would live up to the SMT atmosphere and aesthetic or even characters, I'd have preferred that, but it feels more like an ATLUSxIS cooperative effort than SMTxFE, so I can see it.

Anyway, we've seen a bit too little for me to draw conclusions. I'm glad it still exists.

Yeah, I totally agree that it seems more like just an ATLUSxIS thing and not so much specifically SMTxFE, and I'm honestly perfectly fine with that. However, I think had this not been teased as a SMT/FE cross-over, it may have softened the blow for some folks.

Also agree that it's too little footage to really tell, but they really could have picked something more convincing to show if it's actually going to have elements of both series'.

Why couldn't it be Team Maniax?

SMTIV was more recent (2013 vs. 2011) and they're probably working on actual mainline megaten stuff since there's no one else to keep that area going at Atlus while Persona team is making Persona. Plus even if the production values look a bit low on IR, to do a brand new style full rpg like that it's going to be in development at least 3+ years going by how Japanese game development works.

Ideally, SMTIV team is doing either a SJ type type game or a new series like DDS while buying time until SMTV in 5 years or so.

When I saw the trailer I was speechless. What we got was frankly the last thing I expected with SMTXFE. Even now I still don't know what to think about this. Where does the FE and SMT characters get involved with this game?

Yeah, months of longing talk wondering about a game called SMTxFE makes it understandable.

If I get to fight Demi-fiend I'm happy.

Tiki (her younger version from Fire Emblem 1/3/11/12, not Awakening) is in the trailer, but that's it so far.

Eh, I'm pretty convinced that Team Maniax is actually working on a new IP, given all of the Atlus hinting about it. I suppose the timeline would make sense, since they were still involved with SMTIV when SMTxFE was announced, though.

Ah, that's close to what I'm thinking. Sure, that checks out, then. I'm still pretty surprised that the Devil Survivor team is responsible for this project. "SMT" was screaming Team Maniax to me.

Probably early to ask but has anyone uploaded just the music from the trailer yet? It is godlike.

More on topic, I am loving this new look and style, if only they could add in social links haha.

It's not what I was expecting. It looks almost nothing like main series SMT or FE.

Fortunately though, this does look like Persona, and I'm perfectly OK with that.

Hopefully they're working on SMTV :D :D

They are there, just weeaboo style.

Enjoy. :p

Actually thinking about it…

The art style and fan service is reminding me of Devil Survivor even more than Persona.
Well, the Atlus producer on the official blog is in fact Shinjiro Takata, producer and director for both Devil Survivor. He worked on the Langrisser and Growlanser series too.
