Illusory Revelations#FE (SMTxFE) - First Trailer, Winter 2015 [Up: Screenshots]

Not sure how SMTxFE turned into this or what this has to do with FE at all since looks pretty much like a SMT spinoff--but I'm down! Since it's Atlus too, I know it'll get localized, which is great because since it's Nintendo I know I won't be able to play the Japanese game.

Also, for all the April Fools stuff, it is April 2nd in Japan...

Actually from the name... Illusory Revelations... It could mean that everything we have seen is not actually real

The name is an old SMT spinoff game title.

Ugly no-fringe Miku. Idol commentary incoming. She even has the same hair clips.

I think it's a given that there will be some subversion of what we saw in the trailers. There's going to be some dark shit in this game for sure.

The other thing is that particular scene reminds me a lot of a similar scene from SMTI. Well at least that's how I think it'd look like if it were 3D.

I feel like this is probably an issue of presentation.

While I don't have a problem with any of the gameplay elements seen so far, that video basically being an AMV with a poppy bubbly theme song didn't help it's perception for people who are more used to SMT's darker universe.

I'd like to think that what we're seeing right now could be a complete red herring, and that the game itself will be exploring themes and such that are more in line with what we'd expect from an SMT game with elements and callbacks of the Fire Emblem series. It's likely to be rated Mature, and it's safe to say that raiting won't just be there because of T and A.

In any case, I still think the game looks great and can't wait to see more. Hopefully it'll show more that will be more in line with some people's expectations, because I can see how this first look could disappoint folks.

That's the point. Or it can actually be that "the battle world" is the illusion lol.
For real though, we don't know anything yet, just wait and see. I remember a whole lot of people saying SMT4 looks nothing like SMT main line because it's so peaceful looking. Then when we see Tokyo, well .

Personally, I think it's just good that Wii U is getting more JRPG content.
Even though this is not what I would expect when I hear "SMTxFE crossover ", I'm still interested enough to keep an eye on it.

I love SMT proper. I love Persona. I love Fire Emblem. There's no way this game could go wrong for me (as long as the gameplay is solid, that is). Surprised this is still a thing given how long since the initial announcements it's been.

That name, though. Not surprised NOA might be looking for an alternate title.

But if people did this, if they used logic, then it wouldn't be the Internet. Right?

I'm always confused my Nintendo's Neogaf. It always goes from really excited to the point of having impossible expectations to demanding the death of Nintendo because they failed to live up to the self-perpetuating hype you guys made to threads saying how Nintendo is doomed. Why?

The game looks interesting. The gameplay looks unique (from what little we've seen) and we got a hint of that dystopian world in the last few seconds with that destroyed city. We know little to nothing about this game and yet, once again, gaf is on a mission to make sure that everyone despises this game.

Pretty much the same thing going on with Xenoblade X. Gaf seems determined to shit on every aspect of the game, despite it looking legitimately like one of the best games in a LONG time.

Wait this is Winter 2015 right? Atlus wouldn't have 2 big console JRPGs coming too close to each other right? so Persona 5 sooner RIGHT?

This is so animu I think I feel my brain melting.

The rush trailer seems about similar.

But which one is the actual first trailer?

*shrug*

Idk, maybe some poster more familiar with the game, I feel the rush trailer is one of the first at least, the other one seems closer to release, maybe a TV ad.

But I was just saying is not in your face compared to this game, and definetly conveys a different tone.

1. GAF is not a singular entity.

2. The absolutely ridiculous user interface with things cluttering up the entire screen in Xenoblade X and buttrock music in that trailer didn't exactly have me dripping with excitement..

Eh, who cares? Let the nay-sayers be.

We'll be playing amazing games while they stay here complaining about games they'll probably never play.

One of the best game in a LONG time?

It doesn't even look as good as Persona 5. And the trailer for that one was only showed a while ago

Will people ever stop pretending that Persona 4 isn't otaku as hell? One of the main characters is an unironic moe pop idol. There are multiple animated hot spring scenes. There's a dancing spinoff coming out for god's sake.

Yeah, which is why SMT and FE fans were excited for this because it was supposed to be a SMT and FE crossover game. But instead we got Persona x Persona (with some references to SMT and FE).

Really hoping the subversion theory people are talking about here proves true, but even then, unless the whole trailer was a dream sequence I just can't.

Rewatching the old teaser makes me so sad at what could have been.

Hyperbole ahoy.

Oh no, IR seems to be so much worse. Woe is me.

The first gif is from the anime. I never said Persona didn't have fanservice, but at least it wasn't that "BAM! in your face!" type of fanservice. Is overly present in this trailer, and the presentation makes it look like is really intentional to be so prominent.

Much more than in Persona 4 and miles away from what Persona 5 was presented to the public.
