Has demons like SMT, has a main weapon and a gun like older SMT games from what I hear.
Man I effing love those coloured silhouettes in the city. Also, battles do look interesting with the turn orders likely being based on character/enemy speed stats and combos added to the mixed. So hyped!!Yep, this entire gif seems to be taken from the same battle turn.

I'm really curious to see more battle gameplay

As well as what more exploration in the real world will be like.

Didn't notice any Fire Emblem stuff at all. Guess it's time to try harder.Tiki herself appears in the trailer, not only in that poster. It's based on the young Tiki though, rather than Awakening's.

The official site indicates we'll see more FE characters revealed later too. It doesn't sound like we're getting SMT characters though...
The original reveal used the "Shin Megami Tensei" title even in Japan, where it's basically only used for mainline games. This re-reveal uses the "Ibunroku" title though, basically placing this in the same category as Persona and Devil Survivor.
I totally forgot they had announced that.
Animey, school setting, seemingly turn based battles with some combo twist plus the overall aestheticSoooooooo why the comparisons to Persona? Other than being anime-y I don't see much in common with Persona. I don't see much SMT or FE either though.
I understand all of that, but I get the same "anime" vibe from both, except that P5 is channeling this 70s TV show theme. Honestly, I like the art style for the SMT x FE game better. But this stuff is all subjective anyway.
Has demons like SMT, has a main weapon and a gun like older SMT games from what I hear.
Also seems dark like SMT games.
Or probably something ATB like? hopefully there'll be more gameplay mechanics reveal, at least during E3 later
Didn't realize the song title is mentioned in the trailer. Will rewatch later
If we take it in the context of SMT, FE and Persona, happy high school teen idols bears more of a resemblance to Persona than either of the other 2 franchises.Soooooooo why the comparisons to Persona? Game looks great, haters gonna hate
It's essentially looking like a Persona game with Nintendo characters. It has turn based battles, looks colorful, character and world design looks interesting...Might you want to explain what makes it look great? Even us being optimistic here still can't really make enough out of the trailer to declare it to look great.
from the 1st trailer? uhh nope...Has demons like SMT, has a main weapon and a gun like older SMT games from what I hear.
Also seems dark like SMT games.

Plus idol pop stars. If we take it in the context of SMT, FE and Persona, happy high school teen idols bears more of a resemblance to Persona than either of the other 2 franchises.
Add in the high school dynamic and social links, remove Tokyo, and it seems very much like... Persona. Not a bad thing, but no, people would legitimately be upset if P5 was revealed to be SMT5.Has demons likeSMTold Persona, has a main weapon and a gun like olderSMTPersona games from what I hear.

I'd be worried if a spin off from the SMT franchise didn't look more like SMT than a cross over!
Good thing this game isn't called SMTxFEWell when you call the damn game SMT x FE and you have zero SMT, why even bother calling it that in the first place?

That's why SMT is not in the title any more. Hell, the website has a copyright for FE and none for SMT. The only SMT in this we'll likely have is themes and Atlus developing it.Well when you call the damn game SMT x FE and you have zero SMT, why even bother calling it that in the first place?
Did they say Winter 2015 for NA too?
Hitoshi Yamagami: “For a long time, I wanted to create a FE on ours times, on the real world. Imagine a Pegasus that comes from the sky and lands on the Building 109 of Shibuya, Tokyo. I always though that would be incredible. At the same time, I know it’s hard because of how FE is. I visited many companies to express these ideas. When I went to Atlus, I was told that Shin Megami Tensei together with Fire Emblem is what I wanted. So, I soon said that to Intelligent Systems and started this very special collaboration. Oops! I shouldn’t say that the game takes place in the real world. We haven’t announced it, right?”
Others: \”Not Really\”
Mashahiro Higuchi: \”Not Yet\”
Hitoshi Yamagami: \”Well anyway, this is how the project was born, mixing these kinds of ideas. I\’m sure you\’ll get to see the birth of a new franchise and new ideas.\”

Jesus Christ. Guess I have to get a WiiU now! I was hoping to be able to avoid that..

But sure, let's get hung up on it being ANIME - unlike Persona amirite - and the song being shit.

It's not necessarily just a cost choice. It's also an easy way to make a scene look more vibrant with less effort when it would otherwise be filled with a few types of background characters repeated. It's not an uncommon method in anime either.
I'll agree that it's overall a bad trailer. Theme song isn't doing any favors either.Yeah. It looks nothing like Persona. Don't make me whip out a Persona list of unique and great traits, lol
They're high schoolers, and the colors are more vibrant than SMT has had. Not really Persona. Just more "anime". Which is less Persona and more "like every other JRPG" out there.
Mind you, I was only asking him that because the trailer does a horrible job of getting a coherent message about what the game is and what should be expected from it across.
I had an idea in my head of a Fire Emblem game where you choose from a team on SMT demons before battle, FF Tactics style. Of course, I knew that it could be anything at all, so I kept my expectations firmly in check - in fact I was convinced that it had been quietly cancelled.
.
And it doesn't even have the SMT part to the title anymore!

But to call it garbage right off the bat is just... no.
Persona 5 looks more like an SMT game than this fucking shit.
No .Did they say Winter 2015 for NA too?
Two completely different developers.Seriously, this does not give him hope for the direction of the next Fire Emblem game.
