Illusory Revelations#FE (SMTxFE) - First Trailer, Winter 2015 [Up: Screenshots]

I had no idea during the direct for the trailer that it was for this game. It wasn't even until an hour or so later that i was on youtube and saw the trailer listed as SMT x FE.... blew my mind and i'm super hyped.

People are acting like its a DOA trailer with the fanservice knocks.

gurl, for something that is SMTxFE, it is.

Have you SEEN the amount of Rule34 stuff these franchises spawned? Especially Awakening. The correct answer here is yes.

Well, a big part of that game was Waifus and most of the discussion I heard about it when people played it a ton was about which one they chose. However, I think FE being waifucentric to the mainstream is a really recent thing.

OPM isn't even a anime yet, and I doubt it could capture ONE art style.

Tokyo Ghoul anime is bad compared to manga.

But this is off-topic so let's drop it.

So basically the overall mold of the game is supposed to be Shin Megami Tensei such as modern setting and summoning demons, but in this case the "demons" are Fire Emblem characters? Are there any concrete SMT connections from what we've seen aside from the conceptual stuff?

I don't know how to feel about the setting. I love Fire Emblem, SMT, and Persona so I play a lot of "anime" games, but even then this seemed too far for me. I went crazy watching the Persona 5 reveal, but this one turned me off even though there are elements in common (High school students leading a double life, etc.) and I can't really put my finger on it. (music definitely didn't help)
I mean, there are ruins of a city near the end of the trailer if that's what you're looking for.

3 series.........

there obviously more than that..

come on don't be dense.

The thing with ANY medium is that there is a lot of junk you have to to dig through to get to the gems. Anime in general is diverse as fuck. Yes there are a shitton of moe uguuuu senpai stuff to go around but there are also tons of other stuff as well. And hell even some of said moe uguuu senpai (btw I'm making this series do not steal...gonna be rich) stuff is actually pretty frickin good or not exactly what it seems.

It's like saying Rap is nothing but guns and hos and violence. It is a shitty and lazy description of a genre/meduim.

That doesn't make it a "waifu" franchise, FE may be going down that path to get them easy sales but I wouldn't say SMT is.

I'd have liked the trailer to be a bit less... uh, simpler. I understood nothing about the gameplay haha. I'm surprised at all the backlash though, but this community has been overly sensitive about "fanservice" for quite a while.
I honestly barely noticed it at first (probably because I understood nothing while watching the trailer haha).

This season alone, we are getting Arslan Senki and Fate series u know? Last season Kiseijuu is also damn perfect.

Just go watch the savior of anime Hunter x Hunter 2011. Best anime eva. Pitouuuuuuuuuuu. Hngghhhhhhh.

I have no interest in it, due to me reading the manga already.

Although to bad the series at this rate will never be completed.

I dont really follow persona, and never cared much for smt, but I got the feeling the 'fire emblem' characters were more the 'personas' of real life normal/non cyber pegasus riding, sentient/self aware breast possessing counterparts, than smt style demons.

What a terrible way to marginalize people's gripes about the game's trailer.

There have been waifu/best girl arguments about FE long before Awakening. Lyn usually wins.

Honestly, I wouldn't even really call it fanservice.

Its more just costume design being the traditional Japanese styled silly on a number of occasions.

Is this will be Turn based RPG like Super mario RPG series? or like Shin megami tensei sereis?

I want latter one. Not Hand busy input game.

it says Shin Megami Tensei on the cover

in fact it's the first thing it says

Never in Japan, and not for anything past Persona 4 in North America (because Atlus realized the Persona brand had become big enough that it was no longer warranted).

Looks turn based like where you can cut in front of the enemy to take their turn or push their turn further down the line.
There's a screenshot with the turn phase line and which character is attacking when.

Yeah, in America. Japan has never had the words "Shin" or "Tensei" appear in a Persona game's title. Only Megami Ibunroku, and they eventually dropped that as well.

Its ridiculous that Nintendo can't think of a name in North America. I half expect them to call it Illusionary Revelations in the west but just throwing on the box somewhere
"Including characters from Fire Emblem and SMT."

The lack of enthusiasm only partly comes from this supposedly being SMTxFE. In fact, when I watched the trailer, I didn't even think it was SMTxFE and I still thought it looked bad. Really, I don't see how you could be into that trailer unless you're DEEP into anime stuff.

It didn't help that the trailer didn't show much that looked like actual gameplay. Usually Nintendo trailers are good at conveying what you do in the game, but I guess this just isn't a Nintendo game whatsoever.

Yep, ATB-like where enemy and character speed stats determine the order of attacks.

Featuring Dante from Devil May Cry and Raidou from that game not enough people played.

Edit: Half curse you blooddimond.

It's like if I had a friend who I wanted to introduce to anime and show them it's actually pretty cool, this is exactly the opposite of what I'd want to show them.

To be fair, anime similar to Fire Emblem or Shin Megami Tensei aren't exactly what I'd shown to a newcomer to demonstrate the medium's virtues.

But, it appears this is not named SMT either, so...
it has become its own thing, for better or worse.

But just like a square is a rectangle can a Persona not be a Shin Megami Tensei?

Oh, they have absolutely nothing in common at all?

The thing is , when people talk about SMT, pretty much no one mean Persona. Persona is like a separate now anyway. They just share the demon and some of the mythos.

I know, but that's not what I was responding to. Obviously, this game's purpose isn't to be a direct cross-over, at least not from its re-unveil plus the producer interview.
