Would I be right in saying sedatives cure frenzy?
because I really have no idea what they do

This is the first Souls game where I constantly have the feeling that I am missing out on sidequests and npcs. Some NPCs are dead, some are nowhere to be found. I think I got one quest right I guess.

The NPC next to the lantern of central yharnam turned and I got a rune for visceral attacks.

Oh those are nothing,
seriously some of the enemies that appear later in the game are straight up eldritch abominations that'll haunt you in your dreams
The
poisonous tentacle monsters with screaming Messengers clawing out from their undersides like teeth...
*shudder*

After beating
Rom
, should I do something else or just go the way where the door with the
giant spider
over it has opened ? The area is kinda creepy and hard.

And how war am I into the game ? I have left out
BBP and the nightmare section
for now

The netcode is fine, when you find someone it often works well, the problem is finding someone.

Ehh, the netcode is shoddy. It all looks fine, but you have to realize, when youre on a 50/10 connection and your attacks are hitting their model/drawing blood but not doing damage....we have an issue that isnt on the users end.

Nah, just resets the bar. Itll start filling a sec later. It's a bs mechanic because it makes you burn through them 5 a minute.

A-also.
I cant stop posting in here. I said I'd free myself from endlessly answering your questions.

Dammit.

Oh my O.o
patience is key for that fight

Youre halfway. Go do optional stuff. Also,
sprint past the death bridge. On enemies who are red, you need to find the ringing bell necromancer who summoned them and end her or they endlessly come back, and thats no fun. It's an annoying area and a sharp difficulty curve.

Bolt works pretty well, on the first wave kill all the minions and attack it with everything, after than try to avoids the small spiders and concentrate on it

I know, I'm on NG+. I almost one shot him, got him down to a sliver and got jumped on by 2 adds and knocked down with him getting ready to blast. :(. One damn hit. Rom, I hate you

Seriously - Vicar Amelia

Now I don't see myself as being particuallly unskilled, as the open world enemies I find simple to deal with.

I'm not a farmer - I like to deal with the enemies at the level I am and not run off for hours killing the same enemies to level up - Maybe I should?

I try and stay behind her, and hack away - I read somewhere once that there is a way to bait a certain type of attack...

Focus one leg till she staggers and you can visceral attack her head, then with the other leg. Works with her head and arms too.

I've just killed
micolas
,im near the end right?

I have several closed doors:

- the one in Hunter's dream.
- the one near the big guy with ball and chain.
- the one in upper cathedral ward.

any hint on how i get those open?

1. Dont worry about hunter dream.
2. The upper cathedral ward key is in Yahar'ghul there is a ledge right before the stairs where theblazer is fired.
3. That door is pointless it leads to the great bridge where you fought the cleric beast it doesnt open.

Yeah, youre a couple of hours out still.

No clue on the first two since I'm really tired, but the third one
you get the key in the unseen village. Remember the cuthulu spider that shot lasers on the ramp with the old ladies? Right before that, look for a gap in the railing, go down that, get the key in the cage.

He took me like 30 tries, no joke. I killed all the small spiders the first round and held down R2 for a big hit followed by another R2. Do that twice and almost half his health is gone. In the next round just lock directly on to Rom and just dodge your way through the spiders to get to him. Hit him a few times and dodge out so you aren't hit by the smaller spiders. Also, up your arcane defense with the moon lake rune and the clothes with the highest arcane defense. Good luck!

wait this is the door everyone keeps talking about? Lol

hmm..mine was 45, I could live a decent bit. Maybe pump some points for an easier day, if you need it? One hit to go doesnt sound like it though.

Night guys~
Yeah if you look around at the geography with the monoculars and everything thats exactly where it is, you can even see where the elvator shortcut to Father G is.

Umbasa.

Don't know if I'll ever get patient enough to beat A
mygdala
or M
artyr
L
ogarius
. I was maybe 2-3 visceral attacks away from beating the latter, but then I got greedy and haven't gotten as close since then. It can get tedious after a while which makes me sloppier.

the hardest boss for me so far, i think, was E
brietas, Daughter of the Cosmos. i couldn't figure out how to avoid her charge attack, which would usually end up with me stuck between her and the wall, just to get headbutted to death immediately afterwards

took like maybe 20 attempts until i was able to do this (boss spoilers) -- https://youtu.be/F-mfRxSgCvI

Question about Alfred:
I first met him in the Cathedral Ward behind the chapel and accepted to cooperate with him. He gave me fire paper or something.
Afterwards I went on to kill the BSB and Vicar Amelia, then I headed towards the password door for the Forbidden Woods. Now I read that Alfred was supposed to be on top of the stairs that lead towards the door, but I'm almost 100% certain he was not there. What did I miss?

This is definitely one of the hardest boss fights in the regular game. One shot her, and thought it was easy, but turned out she only used about half of her attacks on me. Same with W
et nurse
. She only did one move. :[

Yup. I killed every other boss in 1-3 attempts but she took about 15.

Did you ask him all the questions that were available after accepting to cooperate with him? maybe that triggers his next spot. Otherwise the only thing I can tell you is I did everything else you did and he was at the top of the stairs on my way to the Forbidden Woods

when though?
had you completed forbidden woods then?

Wow the thread is slowing down already....guess most people are finished already? I always take my time at release and try to savour every morsel of this fresh experience.

Met him at the altar, agreed to cooperate with him, asked him all the questions available, killed blood starved beast, on my way to forbidden woods he was there. He's near the arena where the 2 Giants lurk, once you go to the left towards the pathway to the Forbidden Woods, he should be there, it looks like a little balcony overlook.

YES! I'm finally enjoying Chalice Dungeons. The first chalice dungeon you can run was boring ... BORING. Very little loot, very little to see. With the next chalice I got, I generated a new random chalice dungeon of same depth, same "theme".

New awesome bosses I had not seen before, TONS of materials that I can sell (I got like 4x the amount required for a new run). I got a new weapon. I got blood gems that I had never seen in "real game". Overall, a very awesome experience.

On to next depth.

The thread has moved about 50 pages in one day. It's just a slow time of day.

I missed so much my first playthrough. I have no idea where some of you found some armor and weapons you're wearing in these videos.

Damn I love this game. I worked a 16 hour shift today and I was reading about how terrifying the defilement chalice is and I was pretty afraid. Got home set up some remote play and burned it out in a little over and hour and a half finished first and second boss on my first try and third one took me about 5 tries. Going to crash but I'm looking forward to doing the the fifth chalice :).

so im going to answer my own question...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsXbEwycrfM.

you need to go to
cainhurst, and get the summons
. he should then spawn at that entrance...

He's at that entrance before that. He's there after you
kill Blood Starved Beast and Vicar Amelia. There are two summons you need to complete Alfred's quest, the Cainhurst Summons which allows you to enter Cainhurst, then the Unopened Summons which you have to give to him at his location by the Forbidden Woods entrance.

I'm sure I asked all the available questions but he did not appear on the balcony on my way to the Forbidden Woods. Looks like I need to check behind the chapel again to see if he is there, or maybe he appeared on the balcony in the meantime. If that messes up my playthrough I'll be pissed -_-

For the life of me I still can't find Eileen. I missed out on finding her in
sewers
, and I was told I should look around
Grand Cathedral
but I cannot find her anywhere. For reference, I'm quite far along in the game. Beat
The One Reborn
as well as that first boss in the Orphanage last night.

Is there no hope of me finding her? D:
