Best place to late game level grind?

Depends on what you want to grind. For blood echoes,
The Nightmare of Mensis seems to grant mad souls when killing those tall creatures that occacionally chuck big rocks at you. This is, ofc, only after you've dropped the eye of Sauron to stop the damage/frenzy. They seem like the best source for hassle free echoes, since they are so easy to kill.

If you want to get a bunch of bloodstones, especially dem chunks
kill the blue eyed werewolves at the upper cathedral ward. They have the chunks as a rare drop. Equipping two 'eye' runes and the best moon rune nets you a decent smattering of echoes and with each kill, a chance at a chunk.

I accidently sent bandage boy to the church but it was cool because then I got that cool fight against him
When he goes beast mode!

What changes if you send him to the clinic instead?

Pretty much everything. Iosefka turns him into a harmless blue mushroom dude who, unlike some other shrooms, doesn't even fight back. Only shivers in a corner. You still get the same rune for killing him :D

Same. Maybe not killing the adds makes it harder or something, but I've played enough Demon's Souls to know what was going on there.

I killed it first try while dodging
what the adds were doing. I didn't even notice the staircase until after the fight.

It was a tough fight where I was dodging constantly. I certainly didn't expect to win and it's possible I got lucky with its patterns.

There was

Where? The first time I fought it I just wailed on the boss while rolling around.

Just finished it.
pros:
-Amazing and gorgeous world building and art.
-Trick weapons feel amazing.
-Navigation/Inventory system is so much better than the old games.
-I like the transition to more aggressive approach compared to the souls passive gameplay.

Cons:
-game gets boring, little to no rewards from bosses unlike the souls series.
-Armor is huge downgrade from Souls games.
-Stuttering and input lag are shit.
-Bad design choices (I cant get the final secret boss because i killed the clinic npc early).
-While the art is amazing the game doesn't look impressive technically.
-Online didnt work 90% of the time which is a shame because i loved interacting with other players in past games.

my score
6.5/10
7/10 if it didnt have any graphical and mp issues.

That score is absurdly harsh. How would you rate the other titles?

Also strongly disagree about that final boss thing being bad design. You aren't supposed to see everything in a single playthrough or there wouldn't be tons of optional content.

If thats really the best way to get chunks than it is going to be way harder than i thought

I farm them for souls and ive never gotten a single chunk

I have defeated the following bosses

Claric
Beast
BSB
Father G
Vicar Amelia

Ive unlocked the path to
Forbidden woods
is that the place to go next?

Other than the different endings there's no reason to replay the game to be honest. Unlike the Souls games. It's my issue with BB

okay, I'm in the clinic next to a tied down
Iosefka, post Rom. If I kill her now, will I get an umbilical? I can't talk to her or anything

Just finished it.

That is some asinine stuff right there.

I like the lecture hall. You get around 35k per run(I only had the crappy Moon rune equipped at that). The one room you literally stand in the door mash R2 and watch about 17k echos pile on in. They also drop sedatives which you will need plenty of coming up. The giant drops chunks occasionally so its an added bonus. The enemies are very easy. I found this a very relaxing farm.

To top it off the load time into the lecture hall is 8-10 seconds. I spent an hour there and went from like level 60-75 in that span. I was gaining a level each time I returned to hunters dream until the last few trips.

Demon souls 9.5/10
Dark souls 9/10 (mainly because i played it on console and the Fps was absolute piss).

Dark souls 2 7/10 (played it on pc so perfect 1080p 60 fps but man what a disappointing game especially the bosses).

Except it does.
I did my research and im not the only one having this issue. [/spoiler]

There are
4 umbilical cords in the game and you only need 3.
Besides, you missing something doesn't mean it's bad design. You're basically just mad that the game has consequences to your actions.

I'm calling it a day. 4 hours of fighting BSB and still haven't beaten it. Even having A
lfred
and a random Cooperator try to help me. Probably going to grind tomorrow and level up a few times.

What level are you? I would be willing to help if we're in range. Think my guy is level 40 now. You could just hang back while I solo if you want :)

If you used a FAQ and got everything "right" the first time, even then I'd disagree. There are several viable builds to try at the very least. There are at least three huge areas that are hidden well enough that you can easily miss them the first time through. There are mysterious mechanics we haven't figured out yet.

I played blind and messed up most of the NPC quests and am eager to play a second NG already, using skill/arcane instead of just strength, making different npc choice and being more thorough about checking in with everyone at each story point.

So what's up with the late game boss
Micolash? It seems like such a weird boss fight and completely out of place. I spent half the fight watching him run in circles for 10 minutes before he went into a room and barely tried to fight back. Then he ran off and pulled a bunch of cheap tricks leaving me to search for an obscure route only to get on the wrong end of a OHKO hardly seconds after falling into the room by some sort of laser barrage.
This boss fight is really gonna suck huh?

I do think the online issues and general glitches hold this game back a lot. There is a LOT of bugs I can't believe are in the game, the boss moveset one is especially horrible.

Ya the game definitely has a lot of dings against it. Those two being the big ones, lack of build variety the other.

Not yet. Got to Grand Cathedral WP and kill the two guys holding stakes that look like crosses. With the Cathedral at your back turn right at that point. You will enter a new zone that lead to the
Witch of Hemwick
who when you defeat gives you the ability to equip runes. The boss will be the easiest you have faced yet, at least in my opinion.

You didn't even mention Chalice Dungeons.

Later in-game NPC spoiler:
Wow, i just read at the Wiki, and i see that the spider that you mean is called Patches. I also see that there is a scene where he pushes you down from a ledge. Are there any other nods to Demon's Souls in Bloodborne? Or from Dark Souls 1 and/or 2?

Just finished it.

So the game punished me for exploring the game early instead of reading online guides ?
Why just not make the NPC drop it it early ?

That is the path to continue mainline story. There is an optional area to pursue first though, there is a key item you will want.

You can think whatever you want in comparison to Demon's and Dark, but I'm gonna have to inform the police if you seriously rate Dark 2 better than it.

GODDAMN those cheap ass, slimy, no good, vulgar, worthless, bullshit, back stabbing, grimy, squalid, nasty, profane, foul, disgusting, wanker, ass licking, boot licking, pathetic, whorish, cheap, untalented, skinny, gross, squid faced, squinty eyed, pale, orphaned, worm-ridden, mishapen, clammy, drunk, dimwitted, unkempt, repugnant, vile, decrepit, grotesque, daft, dubious, motherless, friendless, weak sauce, petulant, weird, unattractive, uncool, jerkish, ass-wipe, frenchy, nincompoop, twigish, infantile, ugly, cock sucking, cowardly, yella, dickish, dull, stupid, unredeeming, CHEAP, motherfucking cheap-ass, brain sucking, insight stealing, homing magic, motherfucking, blood vial stealing mind flayers

Is there really only one lamp in all of this huge
Forbidden Woods
? I assume there is one after the boss, but none before that? I know there are shortcuts but still, this place is crazy big.

What area?

If thats really the best way to get chunks than it is going to be way harder than i thought

I farm them for souls and ive never gotten a single chunk

The only other enemies that I'm aware of to drop chunks are
The gargoyles at Cainhurts (very frinkin rare) and the lone giant in the 2nd floor of the lecture building

Do you have a high discovery? Stacking the two eye runes that I found jumped my discovery to somewhere 200+. It definitely makes a difference. Also, as the base chance is still smallish, you can easily make 30 kills with no drops and then get 3 chunks for 5 kills when you luck out on a certain run.

So the game punished me for exploring the game early instead of reading online guides ?
Why just not make the NPC drop it it early ?

Because at that time the
great ones haven't descended just yet and the womb wouldn't have had the child implanted to begin with.

these things happen as the game goes on.

Finally killed the three hunters by cheesing them. Basically ran back almost to the lantern after aggroing, only one stayed on me others went back. Killed that one. did the same for another. Then killed #3 in his room and it was cake.

Im not proud!

Those of you who killed them by just throwin down vs all 3, you are better gamers than I.

Met an old friend.

Yeah. I really had a good time, but I don't have that feeling of jumping back in like with Dark Souls 1. All variations of weapons, no matter how cool, are just hitting things up close. Pyromancy, sorcery, miracles...just more variety. I know I will play again to do a more complete playthrough, but nothing like 6-7 times like I did with DaS1.
