So I got my Ludwig Sword up to the same level as my Hunters Axe, and I'm just not feeling it as much. I find it's charged R2 attack not only takes longer to charge, but because it's a thrust, it also very easily misses if the enemy moves just a tiny bit to the side. Any tips on using the sword? I'm thinking of just cutting my losses and focusing on upgrading the Axe more now. But my fear is that later in the game enemies will be much faster and require the one handed speed of Ludwig. I'm a mostly 2 handed player though, with most of my focus on strength.

Buying vials really is faster than farming them in NG+. I can run through the first area of Old Yarnham in a few minutes and get enough echoes to buy 60+ vials.

GAF, is this the main story line ?

After beating R
om, the door openend to yahar'gul and I managed to get through and now I am there, where once was the lamp for hypogean gaol with three npc hunters.

Am I on the right track for the main quest ?

I know I have the
nightmare level
open, the 2nd boss in the upper
cathedral
and
cainhurst castle
.

Omg I lost 110,000 souls in a chalice dungeon. Died a silly careless death and then fell down the elevator shaft because I thought that it would be up top and instead it was on the bottom.

Wat. They've become quite expensive for the early/mid way point of the game I'm at. I think they're 540 each, which isn't cheap for me.

Yes, that is the main storyline area for where you are atm.

NG+, mate. 540 echoes is nothing at that point.

Your first action meeting an enemy with ludwig's is L2 or forward R2 in greatsword mode, then two swings. If it still lives > repeat. L2 just fucks up most of the enemies so that they stagger and gives you time to follow up. Ludwig's not really good in hectic situations. Quick enemies or later weak enemies i just use longsword + shotty for parry.

R2 thrust (greatsword) only for sneak attack with follow parry. R2 thrust of longsword is better and faster, so it's ok for normal enemies in a fight. The greatsword thrust has low reach compared to other thrust moves in souls games and BB.

L2 is amazing, staggers everything.

I never bought them on my first playthrough, they were easy to farm and cost a fair amount compared to the number of echoes you get. NG+ is a different story though...

Just beat FG on NG+...only got hit twice. What a difference some experience makes.

Heh, this mirrors my feelings on him. First round, I really got him by a combination of chance and cheap tactics. NG+, everything was smooth as a milkshake and I could just dance with him, dodging and parrying with impunity. Felt good, that one.

YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bamber Gascoigne...FUCKOFF!!!!!!!!

I needed help, i called for help, help arrived, we took about 10 seconds, that dipstick died a horrible death, my friend for all of 10 seconds simply waved and vanished............Unreal experience!

This game, THIS game!

Guys at Shadow of Mensis I'm getting battered by
these arrows
that seem to be coming from thin air. How do I stop them?

It may take me awhile but I'm going to figure out Rom and
that damn 2nd phase where the flying homing ice missiles are coming down at you while you try to break through the spider barrier, avoid their counters and lunges and spit and avoid the magic and then finally get in there to pound on Rom some more. Tough!

I'm not a fan of Ludwig's sword. Just doesn't feel like a BB weapon. Feels like I'm playing Demon's Souls

I agree. First time I saw someone running around with a greatsword I was like ... ok you got to be kidding me right?

Feels like they threw it in there to appease people who probably whined alot in Alpha about wanting a Souls like weapon.

I'm not great at these games and I somehow beat him second try.
You don't want to be too far away from him otherwise you'l get batted from the sky. You also don't to to hang about to close to him otherwise his other attack nails you. Stay in the middle ground. The spiders are kinda weak and as long as you are Benny Hilling it about they won't get you

Edit. And cheers chaps for the Shadow of Mensis advice, I shall just leg it. Also, how close am I to finishing it?

I was working my way through Old Yarnham for the first time and encountered
one of those AI hunter jerks
for the first time. It was pretty hard to beat him with...the other stuff going on.

I finally beat him, but then I was taken out a second later by
the guy with the gun on the tower
before I could collect the item he dropped.

I made it back and got my echoes, but no item is there. Did I miss something good?

continue past the forbidden grave waypoint for
another smaller area with a boss, then do unseen village with a boss, then a small map, and then one large map with 2 bosses.
Thats it for story route but there are many more optional areas and bosses.

What happened to everyone in Centrel Yarnham? Every door is just the same guy,.

yeah i noticed that yesterday as well, really stupid.

C
ainhurst
was already worth it for the
Executioner
Garb. Looks BOSS and has good stats.

80.000 echoes and i feel that the boss is near. Thinking about spending them.. Unlocked shortcut (elevator) so the way would not be really long/dangerous. But i also could beginn the boss fight and then use hunter's mark if there is no chance that i beat it in first go...

Who tha fck is Fe
zy
Every time I come near the door he kills me! What the hell is going on!

You mean frenzy? big invisible hand who grabs you (cathedral ward after two hunters?) lol. Let this area be. You will find out later what this is about.

see with me
I was just in range of the spiders, taking them out one by one and still getting attacked from the sky, not just the ground eruption ones

any special tips on getting co-op going with a specific person? i've tried all of the following and failed

  • within 10 levels of each other (62 and 67)
  • used a long, random password
  • in the same location of the game
  • at the same spot story-wise/ same bosses beaten and unbeaten
  • ran the small resonant bell first, then the beckoning
  • used worldwide instead of local

annnnnd...we still cannot connect

I'm still not finished with my first playthrough and every time I get a new weapon, I try it out, but I always keep going back to the axe. It's probably because I played with it so long and kind of got used to the game while using it. I'm not too far into the game and I kind of have the same concern lol

In forbidden woods I got past the undead civil war lookin dudes and a bunch of snakes but some little blue alien dude just laser blasted the absolute shit out of me.
