A quick question about Insight : is there any advantage to level it up ? I'm at 9. About the effects I know :
I know that I can unlock a shop at 10. I also know that past a certain number, the difficulty goes up
. What should I do ? Keep it low or use my Madman's Knowledges ?

No PS+ so the co-op and PVP aspect doesn't matter to me.

So I beat V
icar Amelia
yesterday on my second try, but I think I cheesed her out? I was using L
udwigs Holy Blade
and after I got her down about 40% I used a
fire paper
and it just stunned her every time I hit her and I won pretty easily. Was that just her weakness or was something up?

Sorry if this has been covered already, trying to stay out of the OT and play completely blind.

I had fun with some chalice dungeon runs and enjoyed some of the new enemies and bosses, but it has already worn thin for me. The levels quickly become too samey and are also too short. I would rather just keep playing NG+.

Any word on when the patch might be dropping? I started playing yesterday and I have got exams coming up; I could be patient till the 17th of April.

Where do people find that huge witch hat?

Can anyone post a picture of the witch's hat without any other major spoiler (I just started the game).

Got to the final boss last night, debating about how to approach my trophy hunting now.

I could end this playthrough immediately and grab the rest of the weapons I need in NG+, or I could hunt around for everything that I can't get from chalices now...

And then there's the option of just starting over with a new character and speccing for skill so I can use some of the sweet end-game gear.

Gah, the options!

Does killing
Gherman
end the play through or will I have time after I beat him before ng+?

Killing him ends the game. Selecting to surrender to him also ends the game. If you're going after the real final boss, killing him does not end the game. Not gonna spoil how to get that encounter started, but you'd know it if you were doing it.

Beat father gasicone last night only after 3 tries. Wish i had time to progress further but im having a blast playing at this pace. Definitely one of the best games this gen.

I beat
Ebrietas
earlier today on NG+ solo =)
(i missed that boss on my first playthrough. The charging attack is really difficult to avoid. I managed to dodge it fine maybe 10% of the times i tried. I still dont quite see the pattern on how to dodge it every time.

Its also pretty random when the boss does the head slam attck. I did that strategy to begin with, and two times i managed to get the boss down to 10-15%. After trying maybe 30 times, i changed my strategy and just went really close to the boss, do one or two hit, then dodge when she attacks and repeat the process. After trying this method 3-4 times, i beat her.

Yeah its a known bug, should be fixed soon hopefully

So its only two blood rocks per playthrough? One from
the brain
and one from chalice dungeons? Anyone done any experiements with raising their Discovery?

Theres no reason to go to a new playthrough to get all the weapons, if youre talking about
Gherman's
weapons then you dont need to go into NG+, just
eat the three umbilical cords and beat Gherman, when the Moon Presence shows up you can use the item that lets you port back to a lamp to port back to the Hunters dream and buy Ghermans weapon and armour then.

Stuck in Cainhurst.
Where do i get further? Was at the roof and grabbed the knight's wig and i'm back in the main hall know. I went everywhere there. Walkways outside the hall lead to nowwhere except coldblood item.

Can someone explain two things to me:

1. How do chalice dungeons work?
Do I need to put a Chalice on the grave?
2. What are those messengers in Hunters Dream?
I can give them a gift. What do I get in return?

Is there any way to unglitch the elevator leading to E
brietas
? I encountered this boss for the first time post-patch and decided to Hunter's Mark out of it and now the elevator is stuck at the bottom. I thought this latest already released patch fixed that?

2. The messenger bath outside the sidedoor of the house? You can buy stuff with insight (need 10+ insight to see them).

Where you picked up the Knight's Wig, you can drop down from the sides and work your way from there

You were at the right place with the roof. Do some falling. Also, this was the hardest boss in the entire god damned game for me.

Rom down. Not too bad. 3 tries.

My winning strategy:

I ignored the little
spiders and just rushed in for an L2 Ludwig's hit and then got out. Keep strafing and dodging until one side is mostly clear of spiders, run in, whack him, run out, repeat.

Gotta pay attention to his movement patterns to read which attack is coming.

Cannot get greedy. His personal area
AoE attack can take 75% of your health.

I guess I'm now back to the
unseen village.
Or the weird
mars attacks alien area in forbidden forest.

I had an interesting "co-op"/covenant moment yesterday. I'll spoiler tag it in case someone wants to see this on their own. It was pretty crazy when it happened.

I was helping people out with Martyr Logarius when I ended up getting summoned by someone in the Executioner covenant. As a Vile Blood, enemies of Executioners, the summoning turned into an invasion and I had to kill the person trying to summon me. I felt kinda bad but it was pretty crazy to happen. The poor guy even waved at me...

Is there anywhere further to go after Watchdog of the Old Lords, or am I done with this wing of the chalice dungeon? He drops the Central Pthumeru Chalice, so I figure I'm supposed to go use that now to move on, correct? Does every chalice dungeon include three bosses before you move on?

No, not that one. The one in the back (bush area)

Ah this one: find items in the game which you can give your messengers. All your messengers in the game are going to "wear" it. Like hats or bloody bandages around their head. Just cosmetics. I only found "Black Messenger Hat" and " Bloody Messenger Bandage" so far. The hats look funny on them.

I feel your pain.

It's her lasers that are cutting me into ribbons. One volley and I'm toast.

This is a vid of me doing it.

Basically the only thing you have to watch for at this distance is the headbutt which it didn't do for some reason this attempt. The only times I did get hit was when I thought I would get hit where I was and dodged unnecessarily. I'm suggesting this because before I was hitting it from behind it didn't really work out, switching to this I got further than I ever my first try and taking out the next so yeah, give it a shot and good luck.

Not every chalice dungeon has three bosses, some have more. A good indication you're at the end is if you have to open a big door to get to the boss. The lesser bosses have regular size doors.

Oh and I downloaded (& presumably installed) the code for hats for for the messengers but it has yet to show up in the game; thus far I have played the game in offline mode only.

Should I contact valve?

Are there any enemies that drop blood stone chunks?

Yes, best drop rate seems to be
the blue eyed werewolves in upper cathedral ward
but they can also drop from
gargoyles in cainhurst castle
and some other enemies but the drop rate is pretty shitty

so i haven't had much trouble up to the defiled chalice dungeons, gonna start them today. how hard are they really?

What level are you? Just finished it myself,
Lv 2 and 3 bosses were pretty serious. Thought it was definitely harder than Lower Loran even though that one was Depth 5. Still very doable, just have to be patient on the bosses since they have sooo much more HP than you. Battles of attrition, need to learn their attack patterns well.
