So, I am near the BSB entrance (actually fought him once) I have the sawblade, Ax, and cane at +2 thinking about focusing on just leveling up just the cane and Ax from here on out. Is this a good idea. I am a n00b to the souls games.

Phew, finally beat the game.
Needed to learn how to parry just so I could beat Gehrman lol. That fight was pretty intense and a lot of fun, though.

Enemies take a shit ton of damage in NG+. My vit is lvl 40 though, so I think I'm fine.

So its only two blood rocks per playthrough? One from
the brain
and one from chalice dungeons? Anyone done any experiements with raising their Discovery?

There are some Chalice glyphs posted on Reddit for created dungeons that have a guaranteed Blood Rock in them.

Oh and I downloaded (& presumably installed) the code for hats for for the messengers but it has yet to show up in the game; thus far I have played the game in offline mode only.

Should I contact valve?

Did you try interacting with the stump messenger in back of the house in Hunter's Dream? It should be installed and available for them to equip.

Ah, thanks I will check it out.

Focus on upgrading the weapon you like the best and also focus on increasing either strength (axe, saw) or skill (cane.)

[/SPOILER]

There are a few good places to farm these (so I've heard, going to test it out tonight).
Unseen Village after Rom, and Upper Cathedral from the blue eyed WW. I also heard that the old man on the dock before Rom drops a Rune that adds +60 to Discovery. That poor bastard is so dead.

EDIT: Nevermind. I see now that you said "Blood Rocks", not "Blood Chunks".

Well I got an insane bitch doing tons of damage to me with a magic attack that is fucking straight stupid

When you enter the house just stand there, she patrols to the bottom of the stairs and then just goes back to the chest. There she is going to stand with the back to you. Sneak up and land with your hardest hitting weapon a visceral attack+riposte. Then fight. Parry helps or staggering blows like ludiwgs or kirkhammers L2.

Fuck
Ebrietas
right up its arse. Came one shot away from absolutely decimating this cunt on my first try, until I was hit with lasers, and every subsequent try has consisted of me getting rekt.

Anyway, took this nice screenshot.

I just beat the game, incredible. I liked this so much. The level design is the best of any 3D game I've ever played.

Dark Souls is my favourite game of all time, so it's gonna be hard to beat, but I feel like Bloodborne is really up there, probably top 5. I really need a second playthrough and some info on the lore to think about this. Bloodborne is probably higher quality overall, but Dark Souls does a few things a lot better, such as the Estus Flask system, and more weapon/armour for a better build variety. I liked Bloodborne's combat a lot, it works great for the horror setting it creates, I probably prefer Dark Souls combat just a bit, but that's mostly my own tastes.

The final boss was really great. I'm glad I beat it before running out of Blood Vials, though grinding would have really ruined the moment. I also did it with 99 insight.

It's the world building and level design that I enjoyed so much. I think it stayed at a consistent quality towards the end of the game, unlike Dark Souls. I want to read loads more about the lore so I can't wait to dive in!

I just ran past her, the one thing that bothers the hell out of with this game is the fact that I have to go grind for bloodviles. I mean I like the game but grinding for healing items is just stupid when it wasn't in any of the other games.

So this whip lady in byrgenwerth can go fuck right off. I got the key but now have no clue where to go.

Hysterical, I was saying the same thing last night. I missed the chance to kill her when your first encounter when you can do the backstab, now she's at the ready everytime I go up the stairs.

Chalice glyphs with a Blood Rock in them (note, you need the appropriate chalice and offerings to be able to access them, they should be listed in the links):

Also, if you're new to Chalice dungeons, the OP got updated with a Beginner's Guide to Chalice Dungeons. I highly recommend you check it out!

After my unfortunate power surge incident yesterday, I managed to make up for it before bed last night, and then some.

-defeated R
om, the Lardass Spider
-completed Eileen's storyline for her equipment, proceeding to buy all of it and getting the weapon to +6 already
-unlocked both the L
ecture Hall
and C
ainhurst Castle
-spent a good 10 minutes in awe of the approach to C
ainhurst Castle
, because holy shit.

It is up to you, actually. Just be mindful that ax and cane are not a good match, as one scales to Strength and the other to Skill, so your build would have to have both high.

If I were you, I'd choose two Strength OR two Skill weapons. Mind you that you will get to find other weapons later, so your initial set is not necessarily final.

Be mindful that you can find out about that on the weapon info screen. Just check which stat has the highest letter value (E being the weakest and A/S being the strongest). If a weapon has B for Strength and E for Skill, for example, it means it scales better with Strength, so you should up your STR to make it more effective.

Holy shit. Finally beat the first boss. Went through 14 vials but still, finally! Now I'm completely lost. Ended up stumbling across some
bird lady
who absolutely wrecked me in about 3 seconds so not quite sure if that's the direction I should be going just yet.

Any tips for Rom? The
spider boss in Byrgenwerth.

I've tried him about 10 times at level 60 and almost had him a few times but he just keeps spamming drop attacks on me and the
baby spiders
are overwhelming at times.

You shouldn't have
aggro'd her. She is a friendly NPC with a quest line. Well, not friendly anymore...

After the Woods things just keeps getting worse. ¬¬"
I hated
Unseen Village
, and now in the
Nightmare of Mensis
there are some pretty irritating stuff everywhere...

I wonder if it will come back to the good pace until V
icar
A
melia
.

Anyone have some suggestions for the O
ne
R
eborn
boss fight?

I know to kill the
witches up top to start off with,
but keep getting destroyed by the monster itself.

I'm running at level 62, with a +7 cane, +6 blade of mercy and a +5 Ludwig Holy Blade.

Also, as far as GETTING there, do you guys really just sprint?

Damn at the huge HP bump of the enemies in NG+

I mean, I still did beat Cleric Beast easily, but the thing had the same HP as the last bosses in NG.

I remember steamrolling in the first bosses of NG+ in DS.

Don't really what to think what will be of me when I reach the last areas...

Is there an item or armor that reduces poison by a lot? Or completely immune?

Yes, the earliest one you can get is Father G's attire. It's available at the insight vendors after you defeat him. The next earliest one is the
Black Church Set, found in the Cathedral Ward area
. There are also runes that grant poison resistance.

He is really easy, always go for his back legs, then when he switches (the legs you attack will rise and become the arms after a few good swings) just walk over to the other legs and do the same

Well thats annoying... What do I miss out on now?

She teaches you some gestures, and you get her covenant rune at the end of the questline, (grants increased stamina regen, so good) along with the ability to buy her gear. But if you kill her now, she drops her gear but not the other stuff.

First try with M
artyr
L
ogarius
wasn't that bad. Brought him to 40 % health. Ludwig's +8 deals good damage and his attacks are not that dangerous except
his skulls
. I guess he has a second form/phase where he ramps up.

Yep, his
skull attacks
are annoying. Of to third try -_-.

I'm using the Saw Clever and Strength was making it stronger of course. But now around 25 Strength, Skill is now giving me better stats to upgrade. Do Str and Skl have to kind of scale together?

I got handily beat by the 2nd boss in U
nseen village, The One Reborn. Is the best positioning in this fight to stay up really close and hopefully not near the small legs he has on his side that he will spam kick you with? Both times I died he landed a couple hits followed quickly by that weird bone stuff he shoots at me.

I also didn't manage to beat
the 3 hunters that are on the way to boss. Pretty much me getting to the boss consists of me sprinting from the 2nd lamp all the way to the fight, and trying not to take too much damage. I have a feeling I will be stuck in this area for a while...
