Not every chalice dungeon has three bosses, some have more. A good indication you're at the end is if you have to open a big door to get to the boss. The lesser bosses have regular size doors.

I don't recall the door to Watchdog being particularly notable, but the fight took place in a giant circular dead end area, and there appeared to be no path leading out of it, only the path leading into it. Unless I missed a door or an opening somewhere.

So I beat the
Watchdog
in the first Chalice Dungeon. How do I know if a dungeon is cleared ?

I'm basically trying to ascertain the same thing right now. I think the fact that Watchdog dropped the chalice for the Central part of the dungeon is our indication that he was the final boss of the area and thus the dungeon is cleared, but I'm not certain.

I'm using the Saw Clever and Strength was making it stronger of course. But now around 25 Strength, Skill is now giving me better stats to upgrade. Do Str and Skl have to kind of scale together?

Look at "Attribute Bonus". Letters range from S > A > C > D > E > nothing. S is best. Cleaver scales better with Strength (arm) and second best with skill (hand). When you upgrade the weapons, the letters get also better.

25 is the "soft cap" for str and skill. Points allocated after 25 have significantly diminished returns.

Once Strength or Skill is at 25, stat increases will decrease by a bit for each point spent (diminishing returns), then even more at 50; it's what people refer to as a Soft Cap, with 50 being a Hard Cap. Some people say these terms are being used incorrectly, so just think of 25 and 50 being different levels of diminishing returns.

But if a weapon has good scaling with a stat, points even going from say 29 Strength to 30 Strength will add a few points into the attack bonus (pretty noticeable with B or better scaling). When I took my Skill from 30 to 31, my Threaded Cane +6 (with a B scaling for Skill), my Attack went up by 2-3 points.

Damn, the Forbidden Woods goes on forever. I was hoping I would eventually unlock the short-cut near the lamp but I went into an unexpected boss fight with 100k blood and proceeded to die. lol this game

Any quick advice for
Shadows of Yarnham
? Ganked me good :(

take out whoever is giving you the most trouble. people all say to get rid of the
fire spell dude first. but I took out the sword guy first cuz he's fucking bitch. I took out the firespell guy last.
worked for me.

I had a frustrating session last night. I was in the N
ightmare realm place
that has the
big dudes that throw rocks
, and I was getting owned. I realized I just wasn't strong enough for that area after about an hour, and returned to the
Forbidden Woods
, which I had partially explored before.

I ran into the S
hadow of Yarnham
there, and they proceeded to whoop my ass a few times. To the point where I had 120,000 souls on the line. I used the Hunters Mark to warp out after collecting my souls, and then spent them leveling up an additional 4 times.

The session ended on a high note, as I beat them. My strategy:
i first made sure I had Bolt paper on me. At the start of the fight, I used the Bolt paper, then ran around the arena, hitting all three of them when I could, getting all 3 to about half HP over the course of the battle. I then focused on the fireball throwing dude, and got him down to a quarter HP, which triggered the second stage of the fight. I used another bolt paper, and took out the fireball dude, then the fire breather, saving the Katana dude for last, since he was also at half health. I used the bolt paper one last time, and killed the katana dude, avoiding the snake he summoned. Beat them in less than 5 minutes that way. Using my +6 Saw Cleaver I've had since game start. Lol

Hmm... I don't remember that dungeon specifically, but it's just a pattern I've noticed on the later dungeons I've been doing lately. I guess a dead end is a better indication. If there are lower levels there will be a path to get there in the boss arena.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I didn't see it glancing through. My friends and I each cooped
Amelia Vicar
and now none of us can summon. We can ring the small bell and join other games but we can't bring people into our games. I tried hopping to other locations but I get the same result. I looked online and saw
instances where people couldn't summon near her until they bought the key to open the gate (like in this reddit thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/bloodborne/comments/30asa1/psa_if_you_cant_use_your_bells_near_vicar_amelia/ but I already opened that awhile ago. Plus I could summon just find to fight her. It was beating her when I couldnt.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't think its a bug, just not sure what to do about it.

70% of people have gotten the Cleric Beast trophy. A total of 10% have gotten one of the ending trophies. :lol

Come on people! You started it, you can finish it :)

worked for me.

I did the same thing, one shot that boss and only healed 3-4 times.

I got handily beat by the 2nd boss in U
nseen village, The One Reborn. Is the best positioning in this fight to stay up really close and hopefully not near the small legs he has on his side that he will spam kick you with? Both times I died he landed a couple hits followed quickly by that weird bone stuff he shoots at me.

I also didn't manage to beat
the 3 hunters that are on the way to boss. Pretty much me getting to the boss consists of me sprinting from the 2nd lamp all the way to the fight, and trying not to take too much damage. I have a feeling I will be stuck in this area for a while...

Find the elevator back to the first lamp, on the elevator there is a place you can jump to that has a warp near the boss, where you can avoid most enemies, only a few dogs and a bell maiden.

Yes, the earliest one you can get is Father G's attire. It's available at the insight vendors after you defeat him. The next earliest one is the
Black Church Set, found in the Cathedral Ward area
. There are also runes that grant poison resistance.

Alright, I have both of those. I just wasn't sure if there was something that gave you immunity. I hate walking around in those pits of poison. :(

worked for me.
Take out the mage first. After that, the fight does get much easier.

Parry. Also take out the fire guy first.

Sorry for two posts, wanted to edit it into one.

Thx guys. Got 'em good by using the unextended ludwig's holy blade and focusing on
Mr. Fireballs
first.

I'm pretty surprised 70% beat Cleric Beast. That was way lower a week ago, so clearly people have been whittling away at it in chunks.

One of my non-Souls playing friends bought this game off my recommendation and I'm having to coach him through the first section on Shareplay so he can understand and nail the basic mechanics. The difficulty curve in the first section is more pronounced than any other Souls game IMO, but then eases up some once you get to your 4th or 5th zone.

EDIT: I bet that 10% are all active GAF users on this forum :)

Decent session this morning. Finished off the witches and bought Ludwigs blade. Lost a ton of echoes though - once on a rooftop near the witches I fell to my death and then fell off a bridge trying to get back to them quickly. Second time was trying to clear out the prison area, got killed by a bag man.

There is what looks like an elevator down in the unseen village, near one of the pigs. Where do you activate it from?

I think next I'll either go to the forbidden woods, or try whatever is the other side of the cathedral past the two hunters. I killed them once but got scared off by a bag man so I'll try again.

Should I try out the chalice dungeons soon too?

That elevator comes later

Damn, that sucks. There is a shortcut that leads back to the lamp, but I wouldn't even say it's THAT close to the boss. It's still quite a trek to them.

No immunities in this game, just resistances. :)

Awww, sad. :P Getting poisoned in those pits always makes me feel so rushed and careless (sometimes leading to my death). And the pits in
Nightmare
place slow you down too I think.

Any tips for Rom? The
spider boss in Byrgenwerth.

I've tried him about 10 times at level 60 and almost had him a few times but he just keeps spamming drop attacks on me and the
baby spiders
are overwhelming at times.

Here are some good pointers for you:

-During the first phase, focus on getting rid of the spiders first. Since spiders won't despawn when you move onto a new phase, getting rid of the first 12 will give you some more breathing room later on, since you really can't focus on them once Rom starts using his moveset.

-Take advantage of an old Souls trick: Rom is still vulnerable during teleporting, so you can get some strong hits in before he completes, and you can get him down to 50% or close to it during the first phase. He begins to teleport when he reaches 75% and 50%, so anticipate them do maximize free damage.

-Learn his moveset once he begins to attack, which are as follows:
1) Rom points his head to the sky: sky crystals are inbound. Roll to the left or right and you should avoid them.
2)Rom points his head and abdomen to the sky: close range AoE blast. His deadliest move, and my personal recommendation is if you're locked on, disengage immediately and roll away. The reason for that is the thing that can screw you up the most is not having camera control to roll past the spiders, which can block you in.
3)Rom rolls on its back and does a crunch: ground crystals are inbound. Pay attention to the water to see ripples to signify where they're coming from. Deadly, but easy to avoid, and it's possible that you can get an opening by Rom while its on its back to do some extra damage, but it's not likely, as the crystals tend to form a perimeter around his body.
4)Rom swings his head: he, umm, swings his head. Generally doesn't happen when you're attacking him normally, but he can go into it if he backs up and he's looking directly at you. Dodge to your right back over to his side and you should miss it.

-Most important tip of all: always be dodging. Whether you're locked on or not, keep moving that way to take advantage of the I-frames that will save your life more often than not. Rolling is probably the safest way to go about this, since you'll retain camera control so you're not running into the spiders.

There is a shortcut.

It's the opposite way from the boss.

If you run into dudes who look like this:

Try the other path.

they start to change into those snake abominations when one of them gets below 50% of health, try to get all three to that point before they change. also, use that huge tombstone to your advantage.

Thanks I'll try this.

Hysterical, I was saying the same thing last night. I missed the chance to kill her when your first encounter when you can do the backstab, now she's at the ready everytime I go up the stairs.
Hah, right where I'm at too. But the forbidden woods taught me how to use thrust attacks and keep backing up with the saw cleaver, so I just poked her to death. :)

Here are some good pointers for you:

I wrote up the tips I used, but these are better. All I can add is keep the little ones on front of you, get some hits on the side of the big one (more damage to his side) and when he rolls get the hell out of there.

Finally beat Amelia. And all I had in mind was; "lets practice a bit." Feels good.

A side note... I hate the sack guys so much.
