Forbidden woods was fucking awful. Such terrible design and it will be a major reason I won't do NG+. I just beat the shadow boss but that took me way too long to get everything and I just gated the design.

Lol can't wait to see your reaction to Yahar'gul. I actually really liked Forbidden Woods, it's one of my favorite zones in the game.

I still don't understand the benefit of insight past 10. I have like 30 madman's knowledge now. Why would I use them? Only to summon help, or do we think there's some inherent/yet unknown benefit to having more insight?

I read the wiki and it still seems spotty, at best.

Once over 40 you can see previously hidden things in the world. No idea over 40 though since I'm at over 80 and nothing's changed.

Pretty much mine and my friends thoughts.

Great single player PVE game. Bad co-op and PVP game. It's actually not bad co-op if you can get things poppin. PVP on the other hand is pretty bad.

Can you elaborate , i am about to create a pvp hunter. Did not play coop whatsoever , going to hit ng++ tonight. Should i just enjoy my single player experience with my 3rd playthrough?

I'm in the same position as you and slightly disappointed I won't get to capitalize on elemental weapon enhancements for this playthrough. If you want bang for your buck, you gotta upgrade Skill next. I'm probably going to just ignore Arcane completely.

Sounds sensible. Tough luck really :(

I'm in the Forbidden Woods, made it all the way to the
Yharnam Get Rekt Gank Squad
with 75,000 echos... had to run back grab my echos and bounce with the hunter mask. I called it a night. Also, why
snakes?
WHHHHHYYYYY?!?!

Skip them, run past the hunter, go down some steps, turn right and get on elevator to light lantern. Now you can sneak up on the hunter for a visceral attack. You can cheese the spiders (fight little ones in doorway imo), too much to fight all of them at one time.

Thanks bro, this is what I needed

Should work, yes. ...

Yes, use that item to get 1 insight! ...

yes, use the MK for insight and open up leveling ...

Consume the madness item, go to dream refuge and talk to the doll to level up. ...

Thanks! I'll go ahead and start leveling then and not feel so intimidated about going after some of the larger enemies to continue exploring the first area. I didn't want to accidentally encounter a boss with all of these blood echos.

I lost them several times last night but luckily I was able to recover them each time and continued adding to them. Each time it was so stressful and fun trying to get them back knowing that if I died they were gone.

Such a great game. Really makes you think about whether it is worth it to take on an enemy you haven't encountered before.

Has anyone experimented with a bloodtinge build?

Since both of the bullet weapons scale off of Skill and Bloodtinge it makes sense to me that your build would be focused on these two stats.

BSB
defeated. Had to summon A
lfred
and a Cooperator who pulls out this
flamethrower
and roasts
BSB
so either way I'm happy now lol.

I did almost all new game+ bosses with a friend. Very time consuming waiting for over 30 minutes with no summon to his nor my game. I do think his NAT settings are jacked up. I got my ps4 in a DMZ, and when bloodborne came out I even hooked it up via ethernet. Could be something on his end. The early bosses we could co op together fairly fast. But the more we progressed the worse it got.

hey guys, im having trouble finding eileen the crow. i missed her the first time around and i read that you can find her in the grand cathredal after fighting rom (which i did beat). i've tried looking for her in all 4 locations but nowhere to be found. so i figure there's a point in the game where it's too late then?

Any tips for Rom? The
spider boss in Byrgenwerth.

I've tried him about 10 times at level 60 and almost had him a few times but he just keeps spamming drop attacks on me and the
baby spiders
are overwhelming at times.

Strategy:
Use bolt paper on your strongest weapon, or the Tonitrus, whichever is more powerful. Don't go after all the little spiders, treat them like defenders that you have to plan a running route to get through. Kill one only if it serves itself up on a platter by missing a dive attack or something. Otherwise, they do leave gaps for you to run through and you can take advantage. I found it easy to take a few whacks at the boss (always from the side!) and then run away before the little spiders got me.

The falling rocks attack can be tough to avoid, but I think at your level you should be able to survive a couple of hits if dodging fails you.

Just spoilered the whole thing cuz I'm lazy.

So just run through it? You don't have to fight any of the enemies there.

I thought so too at first, but now it's incredibly easy to navigate and it's a lot smaller than I thought it was at first.

So it seems pretty clear that some weapons have way better regain potential than others. The Burial Blade has insane regain - I often get back 100% of my lost HP in one or two swings.

BTW can you be killed by your cooperator. Is there friendly fire so if they swing their sword at you then do you take damage?

Supposedly the game gets harder when you have over 15 insight. Over 40 insight and you start to see things in the game world that you didn't see before. You can spend your insight at the insight shop to buy stuff that is good.

Spoiler on the first two boss.

At the beginning of the game I totally skipped
Cleric Beast
since I did some progress without bothering to explore all the
bridge
I made it to
Blood-starved Beast
. For kill that boss some
Antidotes
are required, I used the first ones I found on the way in training on the boss and I ran out of items. Then I realized that you're supposed to kill
Cleric Beast
in order to unlock
Antidotes
from the vendor.

Maybe it's supposed to be a common Soul's mechanic, but to me sounded a really obtuse design choice: what's the point to keep locked items from the vendor even if you've already done some progress and you're in an area when you can use them? Just for example skipping that boss you can reach the
Cathedral Ward
but the
key for the gate
won't show up until you kill the first boss.

I did a 25 skill / 25 bloodtinge build for the Chikage weapon. Stop at lvl 60 so I can help people and the gun dam is still pretty good at that lvl. Gun + bone marrow is great to cheese bosses at the end when they go frenzy mode.

like what?

Besides the amygdala mentioned above, you can also see messengers in random places trying to help you out. I've noticed them (unsuccessfully) trying to pull down levers.

BTW can you be killed by your cooperator. Is there friendly fire so if they swing their sword at you then do you take damage?

Are you sure it was a cooperator?

If you are in the Executioners covenant, Vile Blood "cooperators" you summon will try to kill you. I think the opposite works that way as well.

Well... you don't need antidotes to kill BSB neither you need the key to go to the grand cathedral, so...

If you are blood-addled (you killed other players?) and your co-op buddy is a Hunter of Hunters, if you join together in Co-op, you can kill each other. There's no way of determining when you'll get an adversary in coop, but I've rang the small resonant bell a few times and ended up killing the beckoner because they were 'blood-addled' :lol

Oh right, haven't been back there in a while. Think it's time to go back through the beginning areas again before moving on. And time to find a secondary weapon. My saw cleaver is waiting for chunks and I've stocked so many of the other kind I need to try them on something.

The Forbidden Woods is one of my favorite areas in the game. Great place to level and farm, and extremely fun explore. Awesome atmosphere. It's not nearly as challenging as some make it out to be , certainly not on par with UV or NF.

I just went berserk in the chalice dungeons after days of being frustrated and hitting a brick wall, yes. YES. Beat abhorrent beast in ailing loran, amygdala and watchdog in the defiled dungeon. great feeling.

anyone know which dungeon I can get 2 Red Jelly? I need these to make the last Pthumerian dungeon

late game spoilers
So whats her face is in the sewer and Im assuming thats her squid baby thats next to her
Ive just defeated micolash
do I kill her now to get the chord?

Holy fuck this gauntlet at the
begnining of the Unseen Village is fucking murder. Think I'm just gonna skip the enemies and run through it because fuck.

Wow, that was smart of me lol. Just figured out the gimmick.

Nice man, any strats for Amy in the Defiled Dungeon? I got her down to like half health, playing really conservatively, but one mistake and it's over. Wondering if I'm missing something.

Anyone have some suggestions for the O
ne
R
eborn
boss fight?

I know to kill the
witches up top to start off with,
but keep getting destroyed by the monster itself.

I'm running at level 62, with a +7 cane, +6 blade of mercy and a +5 Ludwig Holy Blade.

Also, as far as GETTING there, do you guys really just sprint?

was your level when i beat him. Go for his "ass". Ludwig (greatsword mode) brought him to his "knees" at least three times, where i then dealt major damage with visceral attack and L2 to his human body part.

Kill the baby for the cord, but usually, you also accidentally hit the lady since she so close and she dies too.

If you are in the Executioners covenant, Vile Blood "cooperators" you summon will try to kill you. I think the opposite works that way as well.

If you're in opposite covenants, you will be hostile for eachother

I know about that stuff... Thanks!

I am just curious about whether or not the game allows you to generally take damage from your cooperator (say if they are just griefing you) even if you are not in a covenant for example? Has anyone seen this?

I'm a STR based char, currently with 30 str (I know soft cap is 25, got it for the cannon.) Am I right in saying that I might as well pump levels into SKL now up until 25, as that seems to be giving me very very slightly more dmg than STR. Or am I missing something?

What do you mean soft cap? o.O

Ha, yep same thing I did. Still, that area... YEEESH

Same here, I loved it. Especially after you get that shortcut back to the lamp and then discover the one that takes you back to
Central Yharnam.
But yeah, the Unseen Village after beating
Rom
is absolutely abhorrent. Amazing atmosphere, though.

so if i didnt kill the baby would it become a great one?

I always just assumed that was people putting off finishing (like me). I wanted to get any farming for mats done before going into NG+. Of course, with almost no item find, that was impossible and I've just moved over to NG+.

I'm loving the share button on the PS4 (new to the system). Being able to catch dumb stuff (no spoilers) is pretty great. I also just discovered that I'm an idiot and didn't know you could summon NPCs for boss fights. I should have known this from previous games, but I just didn't know how to. Father G and I ran around the first area wrecking fools, and he's got some serious anger issues. He just keeps attacking the bodies of things he's killed, and if it's a bug I think it's hilarious. I watched him just randomly bolt off in that house, make a beeline for the dude in the wheelchair with the gun, and then he wailed on him and his corpse for a solid 2 minutes. I wish I had gotten video of that.

I unfortunately wasn't able to save him from the (1st boss) C
leric
B
east
though :( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oB81xppu2uI&t=1m52s

Oh, and also, Father G refused to (sidequest spoilers? Kinda?)
acknowledge his daughter when I took him to the window, and also didn't react to the music box. I'm starting to think he hates his children
.
Wait, how did you get Father G to join you lol? Isn't he a boss?
