Usually i'm not bothering with trophies but this one was "special"

Praise the Cane! I've got mine at +8 now. Where can I farm chunks? Werewolves in Upper Cathedral? I need some to get to +9 and also for my Blades of Mercy.
Found a bunch at Advent Plaza, including a little guy, but I'm only up to Nightmare Frontier. I upgraded my cane to +9 after Advent. Now need that rock...

I've just hit a bug and it's really annoying. I beat the boss at
Lumenflower Garden
and broke the window to get to the lift. I went down the lift where I saw what looked like another boss. So I went back up the lift and teleported back to the hub. When I returned, the lift was at the bottom. Every time I now try to use the lift it tells me it's not currently operational but then allows me to pull the level. The lift does not come back up. I've killed myself 5 times now and even reloaded the game, but the same bug is there.

Are there enough items to upgrade multiple weapons on a first run through? I got a ton of twin shards in hemwick so my axe and cane now need chunks, but I bought ludwigs sword and wondering if I'll be able to upgrade that too, or should I focus?

Stuff starts getting rare once you need chunks, stuff before that is plentiful

You get plenty shards to upgrade to the point of needing chunks. You will have to farm for chunks and I only find 1 rock.

You can get one to +10 and another to +8-9 unless you get really lucky with the ridiculously rare chunk drops. It's a shame they fixed duping.

Yeah that's a known bug and it's really annoying. I was super careful to manually put it back to the top before trying the boss.

I think I'm gonna start going through the chalice dungeons now. I'm near the end of the game and haven't touched them at all and apparently they can be grindy? Still not sure how they work so I'll have to look at the guide in the op.

It's pretty simple. You basically have to find a
lever
to unlock a
blue-lamped door
on that level that'll take you to a
boss
. There are 3 levels, at least for the early dungeons. Plenty of lamps too, so it's easy to back out any time supplies run low (vial refill opportunities are rather poor in my experience).

Start them all you need is some ritual material (specific to each chalice) and about 1K blood echoes, and start the ritual at a tombstone on the left side of the hub.

When a game like this is out, it sucks when you're working full time. Thinking about the game all the time at work.

Now though, I have 3 days, and I see how this is going to play out...

Question: Is
Hypogean Gaol
the way to get to the 4th Boss or have I just skipped a giant chunk of game? I wanted to get here so I could level up my cane after
BSB
, but that was it.

I got there by accident as well, I've only asked here but the next part is
in the catheral area, you need to unlock the main gate with the key you buy in the shop that costs 10k
That area definitely feels like you have to tackle it later, the enemies are a pain

So I struggled a ton with
Shadows of Yarnham
on my first play through. On NG+ I killed em first try and only using 5 health pots. Think I may have bugged it out. Not sure if it can be replicated, but I'm uploading a video now.

I fucking hate hate hate hate those brain sucking mind flayers. They're the worst fucking enemies ever, not they bind you with their magic fast and far but they deal massive brain sucking damage and steal your insights. Walking around the upper cathedral never have been this tense plus stressful because you know those fuckers are lurking around the dark corners and the only damage you can deal most is thrust damage but you don't want to be anywhere near them. DeS Latria Mindflayers ain't got shit on them.

The animation for their spell is so missleading too, always roll way before you're suppose to :(

There is a boss there but I thnk it might be optional. Good area for grinding echoes if you can stay alive. Have you done Vicar Amelia yet? Recommendation after that would be hemwick for
rune stuff (boosts your stats)
, and then forbidden woods (
door on the side in the big round graveyard with the two massive axe guys in, down the stairs from the grand cathedral)

Wow, the having Ludwig sword +10 and the cannon +9 really takes the challenge out of this game. Just one shot M
ergo's Wet Nurse
, A
mygdala
and M
artyr Logarius
all in a row.

HG is a completely optional area. To get to the next required boss, you'll go to the gate at the top of the steps in CW that said you needed a key.

Before facing the next required boss at the very top though, I suggest going to the left of where it's located. Optional area with lots of enemies that isn't too difficult and has the easiest boss in the game. Plus you can unlock runes there.

Same for me. I just played Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 so much I almost just naturally got the platinum, took an effort for it in Demon's (took me 5 years of on and off farming to finally get a bladestone! >.<) and I know I will want to get the Bloodborne one as well.

It's like a very selective compulsion now. :P

I'm fairly sure parry isn't affected by pistol leveling. It only affects damage.

Oh wow no way is this a real thing? Haven't upgraded mine once since I figured I don't need the actual shot to do any more damage, just trigger the visceral...

I remember not being able to parry/stun the hammer ogres in Hemwick until I upgraded my pistol, while I could easily stun the ones earlier in the game. Might be wrong.

Dude summoned 3 gigantic snakes from the ground on ng plus for me. Never saw that before. Also beat
rom
first try ng plus. Took me 4 hours on ng, lol.

Holy shit, I can't believe I'm having trouble with M
icolash Host of the Nightmare
in NG+. He 1 shots me with his AOE magic attack the instant I drop down during the last part. I don't know what to do.

Got past the Cleric Beast on the 4th try and
Father G
on the second try. With the second boss, I got a bunch of special attacks by staggering with my pistol.

Now that I've got enough insight to get the summoning bell, I'm helping some guys to wrack up more insight points.

I have no idea if the build I'm making is any good. I choose the cane as my starting weapon, I feel like it's very underpowered lol.

Ok, I've just been grinding on those first sack guys at the HG lamp leveling up my cane and stats. So the boss in HG can be beaten and then I can go back to the Upper CW, or would you recommend going back to CW first and tackling HG later?

I'm not missing something in thinking that you have to do the early ones a few times in order to be able to do the other chalices you unlock? I beat around 3-4 Chalice bosses and just don't have high enough ritual blood to make the next one.

you don't. just need the materials to unlock the next one. only need to grind if you're missing a material. plenty of guides popping up for them tho, thankfully.

Can't you land a plunging attack on him? I'm pretty sure I did that.

I did find the cane weak even after upgrading. The strength weapons does more damage. Started char with Skill + cane. Found holy blade and switch over. Restart and finish with strength build. Start again with skill for Chikage weapon and felt how weak the cane was compariably again.

*gets to Hintertomb layer 3*

*opens boss door*

Oh c'mon!! I should've known it would be that bitch waiting there due to all the
antidotes
and
poison
in the 3 layers.

Personally, I'd go back to Upper CW and go to the H
emwick
L
ane
area, beat VA after, and then return to HG. He's not too bad if the game meets you halfway, but the HG boss can be a major pain in the ass if it doesn't.

Is that the guy behind the door in the L
ecture
B
uilding
? Where did you find him in NF?

Yup.
look around the area where the bell maiden was standing. There should be a cave below her guarded by one of those beast things. Go in and look around the area for coins on the floor leading you somewhere. You have to reach like a bridge and turn right to find the coins.

Finished it. Overall an incredible experience although to me falls short of Demons Souls greatness. The game got a lot easier towards the end imo. I'm going to have a crack at NG+ for sure. Plenty of life left in this game for me yet. This is the first true masterpiece of the generation for sure

I just killed
Iosefka
before killing
Rom
.
Did i just mess up my chance for the
true ending
or is there still a way?

Stay close to the boss, hit once (preferably with a small weapon like the threaded cane first form),avoid the tentacles and punch attacks (but staying close),repeat...

As`long as you stay close to the boss, the boss will not use the magic attack AT ALL!

Congrats.

Did it take multiple playthroughs?

how difficult was it beating all the chalice dungeons in order to face
Yharnam, Blood Queen
?

It seems Blood Gem Master might be a pain to acquire as well.

Yup.

Ok, I haven't spotted a
bell maiden
at all in that area.
Maybe it was down the way with the giant things throwing boulders that I kind of ignored
... Guess I'll run through it all and check.

I kept saying Saw Cleaver, but actually I'm using the Saw Spear. Love it.

Any other Skill weapons after Rom I should keep an eye out for? I want to upgrade something else I have so many twin shards.

Gotcha. Gonna level this cane one more time and level the stats a few more and off to Upper CW.
