The more I play, the more I miss everything about Dark Souls. The ONLY thing I prefer in Bloodborne is the offense-based combat system.
I haven't beaten it yet (I'm stuck on
), but based on the areas I've seen, the environments are nowhere near as varied and interesting.
My favorite experience so far is:
. There was a real sense of accomplishment once I took out the two main threats in this area.
I also really enjoy the interconnectedness, and the variety of combat you can get out of relatively few weapons. Reaching a new lamp/shortcut is as rewarding as ever.
My least favorite experience so far:
Seriously, I've even been trying to co-op this guy and am getting nothing. Other areas I get connections immediately, but sometimes I wait 20-30 minutes for help, and even then, we always end up wiping. His magic attack feels unavoidable sometimes, and feels unfair when I get hit by it (a rarity in FROM games).
Also, the loading in this game BREAKS the level of immersion completely, and I think that it should be criticized more for this aspect. I don't care if they promised to look into it. They shipped a flawed experience. As it is, Bloodborne is a 9/10 game sitting in a 6/10 package. I hope they fix it soon, because the design choice of having to go back to the dream constantly and the inability to warp between lamps makes me not want to go back and explore areas.
