Holy shit. I was rolling through this game, and then got to the u
nseen
v
illage
and got blowed up.

Super-powered enemies who infinitely respawn until you can find the bell-maiden by trial and error? And laser guy? Come on, man. That level was just kind of cheap.

So has anyone actually tried the shield? Any good?

I did a shield-character.

Needless to say, I rage quit after 4 hours (ended up ignoring the shield completely, despite having it in my left hand)

To whoever asked how I beat the second boss on the Defiled Chalice in just two attempts, my answer to that is patience. Seriously.
The only boss I've fought in the entire game where running away for 99% of the fight and waiting for him to use a specific attack or two (I KNOW for sure I can take advantage of) worked. I also took my time to work out what attack he does, what ones he combos in to and when to utilize the best windows. His sideways chomp can be done up to 3 times in succession so I knew to only attack (one swipe, two if I'm lucky) after the third. I had to rule this out half-way through the fight though because he introduces a 4th jammier-to-deal-with chomp. Otherwise it was always a case of staying near but running to the side all the time (which he will do the same unless you're in his face) to bait him.

The other way I got most of my hits in and something he used throughout the fight was his lava puke. He is open to several heavy hits. While it's less common holding out throughout the fight will lead him to always use this at some stage. He never stopped using it even until his last breath.

Absolutely not one to go all out offensive with. I tried that on my first attempt and got wrecked. No doubt there are folks here who did it that way but I opted for the slow and steady method and after 10 minutes I won out. The only boss I've tried this attempt with cos everyone else I did go on the offensive with. Different tactics need to be applied though I found on Defiled for obvious reasons.

There's an easier way to get those. There is chest containing them in L
ecture Building
in a room near the door to N
ightmare Frontier

Need 4 for the final Chalice. :( Got 3 now as I had the ones you're referring to and I just got one from Layer 2 of the Lower Loran Chalice. I hear there is one on Layer 3 as well. Fingers crossed...

First boss in Defiled is kicking my ass. I get literally one shotted by one attack.
I used the Saw Cleaver, and its possible to get tons of attacks in with the quick attack.
Playing with 50% health doesnt make it easy though. I'm at the same dungeon myself, and i'm at the 2nd boss.
I'm not looking forward to the 3rd boss either, which is
Amygdala
.

The Bell Maidens are at the same place every time, so its easy to find the, once you know where they're at. The laser attack also follows a static path (as in not being random), so its very easy to avoid it once you learn the path :)

Just accidentally deleted a cool-looking alt character, damn. Oh well, I was only up to Cathedral Ward.

Edit: Also, up to the final boss now and I'm at 22hrs. That's a great time for me for a single play through, I haven't fought many of the optional bosses and I've still got Chalices to do and second playthroughs.

How do you evade mico's arcane magic explosion? I'm like 50/50 on it and I know there has to be a 100% way of evading it, I'm dodging/side stepping/running and nothing works. It's one shotting me on ng+.

I'm already in the Forbidden Forest in my NG+ playthrough. This game has me completely by the balls:)

The boss that gave me the most problems my first time around was Father Gascoigne. Well here's my NG+ encounter with him:

THAT'S HOW THE FUCK YOU DEAL WITH THAT PRICK!

Yes, that felt good. My first try, too. It took me 8 tries my first time around. I just hit level 100. I have strength, endurance and vitality at 40 right now.

LOVE.IT.
NICE! I had no idea that item worked when he
transforms

Man I wish there were an easier way to setup duels. I'm invading in Ni
ghtmare Mensis
, and hosts and invaders are healing. They never win either.

Just run through and ignore everything until you get to the next lantern - at least that's what I'm doing in UV.

Holy shit, Frenzy is the worst thing. The
first Nightmare after the Lecture Hall
is kicking my ass.

If you've got the Graveyard set & the +200 Frenzy resist rune, it becomes a lot more bearable.

it takes 4 for the chalice, thats is why he is asking ;)

Oh ok cool.

I didn't have a problem with the requirements for the final dungeon as i searched and explored every room and chest in the dungeons

I can't seem to co-op with my friend, he's level 56 and I'm level 49.

We're standing in basically the same area, he rings his resonant bell first and I then ring my beckoning bell... We also both use the same settings with a full length, mixed capital-lowercase password.

I've wasted about 5 insight trying this, is there an easier way to do it? =[

yeah dude is your network set to worldwide? if it doesn't work with a couple of mins both or you restart the game (fully close the app) and try again. this worked really well for me and a mate. also try doing it at the lamp on whatever level you are

Any tips to beat shadow of yarhman boss.fight
Take out the fireball tosser first. If you don't and you get another to half health he really starts to pepper you. Use the big headstone in the arena to hide/heal and separate them out. The one with the long Katana is easy as hell to stagger, too. Shoot and visceral attack at will when you're down to two of them.

That fight only really gets tough, IMO when the snakes start popping out. Just keep moving and don't get greedy. Attack when there's an opening.

Think I'm underlevelled for Cainhurst these enemies destroy me.

I summoned a guy to help me out and he took one look at me fleeing the first enemies in terror and just left my game.

Sonovabitch.

Any tips to beat shadow of yarhman boss.fight

I beat this one on my first try, so I have no idea if this is optimal or if I just stumbled through. I focused on the sword guy first, riposted him, and got him down. Then I damaged the remaining two guys bit by bit, and ended up with the fireball guy last, He was already down to about 1/3 health before he started with the snake head things. I just bum-rushed him and down he went. Use the rock for cover for whenever you need to heal.

Not sure that there's any trick to this. Skill + levelling is probably all there is to it.

Those enemies in the courtyard are the hardest things by far sans the boss

I sort of tried to separate them from each other by moving around a large stone in the environment, blocking line of sight for two of the three, then taking pot shots at the remaining one until I had to reposition. Then I'd try to maneuver into the same situation again. Sometimes they were far enough apart that I could focus on one briefly even out in the open. I guess my general advice is to keep on the move and choose your openings carefully and you'll be able to deal with one at a time.

Tried by nemesis of a boss four more times. Stuck in close, tried to stay on the sides or behind. BUT...

She has some kind of quick back-hand - never saw it coming - knocked me right on my ass, and as I was getting up she was winding up her prayer-forward-shockwave, which finished me off even though I got one dodge in after getting up. TWO HITS from full health to death, at 40th level.

Fuck this game. Seriously. Its now wasting my time.

I beat her earlier today after failing over and over last night.

My method was:

Kirkhammer and always in hammer mode. So what ever you use, put it in strong mode.

Stay in front. No idea how people are doing it staying behind. Can't see shit that way.

So stay in front at about her arms length and wait for her to do either her leap, two fist shock wave or forward grab.

If she leaps dodge then r1 twice and back off.

If she does either other two, dodge then follow with leaping attack (tap forward + r2 at same time) should hit her head and has a chance to stagger. If stagger do another leap attack.

If she heals, run up to her and do 3 r1's. Should break heal then stagger. Follow up with leap attack. Should negate almost all healing.

Good luck.

Not sure what enemies you're referring to. If it's the
bugs
at the very beginning, I couldn't beat them either so I just dashed past them. The rest of the level is no big deal until the boss.

For some reason those spider bug things outside are much, much harder than anything in the actual castle. So don't fret. The boss of the castle is bloody hard though. Hardest boss I've come across yet.

What weapons do you guys use for NG+ and high level calice ? I can't use anything else than the saw cleaver from the begining. I tried other weapons, with much better scaling, almost similar gems, but they just don't do enough dmg, at ALL. I invested into a lvl 9 blade of mercy and it's just so weak compared to the cleaver... It barely hits half the dmg, even wit the S skill scale... I just don't get it. I played the entire game and NG+ with my starting weapon because nothing came remotly close to it even upgraded and I didn't like much the other play style even if I loved some weapons designs

I perfected him this morning, ONLY using gun counter and visceral attack in the follow up. Did the same for BSB too. You can cheese bosses so hard this way, you don't ever take a single hit. It's crazy. You stand close to trigger their basic melee, you counter with a gunshot, you dash forward and press R1. Bis repetitas until they are dead.

anybody got any tips for
paarl?

I'm using the rapier and i usually evade under him during his swipes but i mis a lot due to camera angles and him dodging. Then I get wrecked when he charges up after 50% health. It also seems like I dont have a good time to heal after the power up since he always swipes me super quick. I've been trying to get viscerals but idk if I have the timing down

Why am I having such a hard time with the
Undead Giant
boss of Lower Pthumeru floor 2? He has a ton of health, my attacks do very little, and he can easily one or two shot me. I know he has a key weak spot that you can hit for huge damage, but once that happens, he still has over half his health and I'm back to chipping away waiting to make one wrong move and die. It doesn't seem like he can be parried either.

Is there another weakness or strategy I'm missing? Or do I just have to be ultra-patient? That's not my style!

That isn't working for me with Logarius. As soon as I parry shot him, even if the timing is right, instead of going on to his knee for a potential visceral opening, he immediately fires off a giant red skull that prevents me from pulling it off or getting too close. It's like he auto parries my parry.

What's a good way to kill that giant spider in
Nightmare of Mensis?

Run fast, past them. Don't need to kill any of them. Run at the end of the room, turn right, cross the bridge, run keep running, go low and right after the stairs in the next room, trigger the elevator, boom, new lantern. You can go back and kill the hunter and the spiders if you want buuuuuut ...

Then you timing isn't right. Or you are too far.
