I'm totally falling in love with this game. I don't know why I missed this genre before, but the learning to overcome the challenge is so satisfying. It was nice helping other people fighting the Blood-starved Beast, to see how far I've come and see people face the same struggles. Still a noob though.

Also, I defeated the the Blood-starved Beast. I was attempting to parry him, but I couldn't really get the timing of his swipes down so I gave up and just started to evade and hammer it. Was pretty effective actually.

I've given up the Hammer for the Great Sword. While the hammer was great for damage, It wasn't great for crowd control and the attacks left you vulnerable to attacks. The great sword pretty much solves this, and I prefer using it to the one hand mode. Shame you can't parry without the gun, although I know you can stun them.

Otherwise, I've had someone invade one of my PVP sessions and I was wrecked. This guy one shotted me with a cannon, and was griefing build I suspect.

But yeah.... I love this game. Once I'm done with I'll get Dark Souls 2.

What's a good place to farm souls before the Nightmare but after R? I want the chilkkage lil

What runes do you have?

Increased echoes from visceral attacks
+
Increased echoes from enemies
makes any area good farming locations. I found
Hemwick Charnel Lane
to be good because it has a lot of those big guys that drop 3-4 vials as well. 4000 echoes per visceral attack netting ~25k per run.

Once you beat Nightmare you'll have the GOAT echo farming location.

Well I did it.
fighting gehrman now, and holy fuck is he hard

Took out every boss, is there anything else I may have missed? I do have a backup save in case.

Keep getting that fucker
ebrietas
down to a 1/4 of health and then get one shotted by lasers or eaten which is one shot.

Might need to summon for help. Level 75 and still struggling!

Oooh good call. Thanks!

Looks like there's quite a few big issues that need patching (like the AI dying), if they ever get around to it. What I'd love most though, is letting you warp to any lamp, without going to the dream first.

I heard they're also working to improve the load times, but is that even possible to patch? I can't remember a game getting a patch that included shorter load times.

DkS II is a pretty good sequel, but... It's Dark Souls 1 you really need.

Same here. I didn't play it on PS3/360 so getting to play it for the first time on new hardware will be a treat. Also,
Byrgenwerth
is already freaking me out. I've gotten jumped by fly creatures, gotten my insight sucked by Cthulu, and smacked around by some long antenna Gaping Dragon ripoff. It's creeping me out.

Used a Bone Hunter's Mark to get out of that fight. Had to use a cannon shot to have a few seconds to pull it off. Ran out of vials, had only 10% of health left compared to his 60%, and I didn't wanted to lose the 400k souls I have.

just wait until you get inside the house ;)

:o no wonder..my inseight is too low to see them

Not the
lesser amygdalas
, the walking tentacle ones. You don't need insight to see them, I could still see them at 0. The ones that run up to you, suck you and then a white thing comes out of their head. They're awful mobs.

Does the hatch door thing on the floor in the Byergenworth house open at some point in the game? If not, maybe that could be related to a future DLC.

Oh man, I forgot about her. She was the real boss of that area for me.

She's two shotted me far too many times. She's almost as bad as the
Katana hunter

Damn, Alfred, calm down.

Damn now I regret not cosplaying as Alfred :-( wouldn't have made this even better.

Damn, you went to town on her didn't you?

It was messy and was not easy but it had to be done and it felt so good :-D

I wonder why I wasn't covered with blood tough

Cleaning lady gonna get paaaaiiiiiiid.

Yup, she won't be happy with the mess, I'm broke as it is :-(

I think I'm bugged on the Eileen quest:

I had talked to her in the sewers and have the dust off cape emote. But now, she isn't appearing anywhere and nothing is happening at the Tomb of Oedon. I've been trying to find her shortly after I beat BSB. It is now night in-game.

Bosses I've beaten: Cleric Beast, Father, Blood Starved Beast, Witch, Vicar.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

So umm, why does my bloodstain disappear if i exit the game?

Yeah, got fucked by this as well. Died with 20k souls, was to nervous to attempt a good recovery try, so i called it quits to reclaim them with a fresh head the next day, but mu stain had vanished :(

Well, well...

After getting my arse handed to me numerous times last night by the D
arkbeast
P
aarl
. I just decimated it after returning, leveling up my stats and weapons and I pretty much took it down in 1 minute. Feels good man. Stupid fuck.

I know, but DkS II is on PS4 and is convenient for me!

Also, totally agree with your suggestion about being able to warp between lamps without going back to the dream world. Would really reduce the amount of hassle involved.

You're supposed to talk to her outside of Oedon's Chapel before you see her at the Tomb. You might have beaten too many bosses though.

BSB might be what triggers her to move again but I'm not 100% sure. I talked to her outside the Oedon's chapel before that and she told be about Tomb of Oedon.

I just finished the filth
witch
boss. Where am I supposed to go? Forgotten Village?
grand cathedral. Make sure you check the carcas head on the altar, than go outside, down the stairs to the gate. Open it and figure the rest out for yourselve :)

I've played and am a relentless fan of the Silent Hill series, even the ones people don't like and Bloodborne has honestly bugged me out about as much. Despite the action gameplay the setting and story is really demented and has its own share of twisted fuckery. This is the first game I've played with this kind of style realized with the detail and pure scope that it is. It's like Victorian horror plus Lovecraft plus hell plus what the fuck.

WTF, I was just helping someone with R
om
and right in the middle of the fight I get the "Bloodborne" screen and get sent back to Byrgenworth. Neither of us died...

It's the Ailing Loran one. I gave up.

Ah yeah, was significantly harder in that one than the other. Basically, what I did, is similar to the circular room. Just use a long, long weapon (hunter axe or transformed cleaver, etc) and lock on and constant dodge back. Just watch attacks and find the ones its good to get 1 quick hit in on his head. Back out fast and rinse repeat. It takes getting used to in the square room because when you reach the end you have a small amount of space to go back around on the shorter sides.

I just kept baiting him but obv carefully, since his attack range is nuts. Def. took me 3-4 tries to get him.

From people I've spoken to who've been apprehensive about 'Souls, I think the whole "PREPARE TO DIE" campaign was a crock of shit and did more harm than good. It gave the series an unfair reputation of being bone crushingly difficult which without playing most people associate with tedium. As in, "This series must be impossibly hard! I don't know if I want to torture myself with that :(".

They're hard but entirely (well, mostly) fair. Punishing so much more apt; the consequences for failure are perceptually dire compared to other games, but you get into a rhythm and realise it's not that bad. You don't feel like you're wandering into impossible gameplay, just the unknown, and you know whatever comes up can be beaten. It manages to balance challenge with empowerment, the right way.

Let the cutscene happen on the ground just underneath where he is. There's a message and some coins on the ground.

I was already pushed and got out and he's still there along with the item, I just assumed that there was something I had to do to get by it without that happening again. Also read that you can get him to beg forgiveness to get some items but I'm not sure how to trigger that.

Your bloodstain = lost echos is gone if you exit the game.

Actually, in my experience, my bloodstain will be moved to the lecture hall first floor after exiting the game, strangely. Of course, you're out of luck if you haven't reached that location yet.

Maybe they rage quit?

Nah, something wonky is going on. I rang the bell again and discovered someone twice, but I don't teleport to their world. And I can't teleport back to the Hunter's Dream now. Just lost connection to the network as I type this. I exit game and get teleported back to Byrgenworth lamp... weird.

I went to BSB before I ever visted the chapel, so I hope I didn't mess up. Been trying to find her since then, but I got bored of waiting and beat Witch, Vicar last night. I guess I'll just give up on her.

Hope this get fixed. :\

Wait, really? That would explain the random bloodstain I found there when I was first exploring the area.

You have to walk through the chapel to get to BSB, unless there's some side path I'm forgetting. Anyway, if you just want her gear you'll get it regardless. Later in the game she'll show up again even if you screwed up her quest.

It probably won't be patched since it's how NPC's work in Souls games. If you miss them, you miss them. They move around as you advance time (beat bosses).

Yeah plus I think some lack the patience that they require. My friends certainly do. I "beat" it last night and they're all like WHOA MAN HOW" and all I could really reply with was that I've been, you know, just playing the damn game.

I'm having a similar issue, I did speak to her at the cathedral but now the Tomb of Oedon event isn't triggering, I've tried coming at it from Central Yarnham, warping directly to it and backtracking from the Cathedral Ward lamp.

I've done CB, FG, WoH, VA and SoY.
