I finally managed to beat
Vicar Amelia
today. Had so many problems with her yesterday, today first try I beat her. Didn't use any vials ether (was really low on HP the last few seconds of the foght though). It's incredible how a good nights sleep can make you better at reacting.

Now I'm in some scary
forest
. Banked 40k souls and quit playing. I can't wait to continue!

Edit: almost time for new OT! These games do crazy things to this communtiy.

|OT4| Easiest game you've played

Also, just got the Upper CW key so it's time to go fight you know who. Should I go and fight her or continue with
Unseen Village
?

Hey guys, I just beat
Dom the vicarious spider and was transported to that area with the ghost hand dude amygdoola

How much game do I got left?

Just made a Bloody Mary to celebrate the completion of what's easily an all time favorite. While it's too early to tell exactly where it ranks, very few games have struck such a chord. Looking forward now to diving into the Chalice Dungeons & multiplayer, mastering the mechanics of other weapons , and raising my covenant rank for my
Blood Queen
-- plus I missed a few sidequests along the way. Besides, even if there wasn't so much left to do I'm still incredibly addicted to the combat.

Miyazaki fucked around and made a masterpiece.

Finished the game, soul level 80 something, dunno if that's high or not, did all the bosses (checked Wiki to make sure). Used +10 kirkhammer and a heavy strength build.

Imo hardest bosses

Father Gascoin - didn't know about music box which allows you to get so many free hits in. I picked waste of skin and fought him before cleric beast. Fun times were had :(. On my second run through I just started he's way easier with molotov's and the music box.

Cleric Beast - not hard persay but he's a huge meatsponge for the first boss, I think he's harder than lost giant and taurus demon.

Martyr Logarius - very damaging, hard to get a hit in without being hit. Took me a good amount of tries, probably the most besides Father Gascoin. Also fuck the run to this boss, takes like 40 seconds.

Gehrman - tried to play against him with my two hand style Kirkhammer, was obvious that wouldn't work. Had to learn his attack animations and when to parry, the scythe did obscene damage but his scimitar or whatever didn't do so much. The fight feels wonky in balance, first phase felt the hardest. Fight is easier with the visceral attack runes.

Margret's Wet Nurse - not hard but I just hate fights where the boss is a sponge tank, especially where you die after almost beating them and then have to farm vials.

Ebrietas - hard fight that requires timing when dodging her "arcane missiles". Her moves are easy telegraphs but she hits super hard

Joke bosses

The witch - lmao, one of the easiest bosses in the soul series.

Celestial Emissary - didn't have much of a healthbar, axe made this fight trivial.

Micolash - kind of a puzzle fight, I actually enjoy these. Chariot Race was on my favorite fights in Dark Souls 2, reminds me more of Demon's Souls.

Vicar Amelia - kind of a slower Dark Beast Paarl, I destroyed her by circle strafing and dodging inward.

Making a new character that is arcane focus. One thing I noticed is how damn good molotov's are, I probably should have used those on my first run through. They're cheap as hell at the messenger as well. Going to try a bunch of different things on this character.

My souls ranking is Dark Souls > Dark Souls 2 > Bloodborne = Demon's Souls. Bloodborne is really great and I have a hard time putting it in the same categories as the other games. Unfortunately it is marred by a lot of technical issues that really do affect gameplay. I wish they'd patch in leveling/vial & qs refill/warping at the lanterns if they're unable to reduce load times. Hope we see a sequel or another new IP from Miyazaki with a similar combat system in the next few years. That being said I can't wait to see Dark Souls 3.

Huh, the boss in the
Orphanage
, it doesn't seem to become aggro unless you attack it(never tried yet, because...), and you can just walk into its room and back out, no fog door locking you in. Is there a secret here?

|OT4| Make contact Io_

Edit: OT4| Post here while your game is loading...
I vote for one of these

I believe that is because a lore thing.
Ebrietas is used to humans because the choir would introduce new members to her as some kind of initiation ritual
, or something like that

How the hell do I get to Yahargul after I defeated
Rom???

the Hypogean Gaol lantern isn't allowing me to teleport there.

I think you should have been teleported to Yaharghul's entrance after that boss fight. You can always warp to
Grand Catherdral, go down the stairs, and make a left.

Goty

Even more goty Like this

I spent 2 hours at the start trying to kill a creature that I presumed was guarding a pathway. I was wrong.

Am I right in thinking that a lot of this games appeal is that I have no idea what I'm doing, or what things do what or where I'm going? Or am I just stupid?

If it's the former then I am loving the feel of this.

Edit: I have limited experience with Dark Souls, but I think I soured that by reading up too much and asking people for guidance which led to confusing and unrewarding experience all round.

Excellent. This is the news I wanted to hear, as I'm trying to pace myself. What about just main game stuff? Still lots, or what?

You have beaten about half of the story bosses at that point.

I'd say half or a third of the games content is optional though, so thats not really good measure for anything.

Is there seriously no lamp at the beginning of
Nightmare of Mensis
?

I'm out of Blood Vial and those spiders hurt like a motherfucker, pretty much two-shotting me.

Well I mean there's the lamp behind the rocks when you first enter the area, and one farther down on the right side of the chasm.

There is. When you arrived there, you should have gone straight and then faced 2 branching paths with a large building in the background. The lamp is just before this branch, on the right side and by some rocks.

There're 2 lamps at the beginning. One at the start(
before you're exposed to frenzy)
and one at the far right near an elevator.

So I had a hilarious time playing the game with my friends yesterday. Figured I'd share the story with you guys :)

We're both huuuuuge Souls fans (started with Demons in 09), but he doesn't have a PS4 yet so this was his first time playing. As we were running around Central Yharnam his older brother comes in and sits with us - "ooohhh I heard about this game it's the one like banjo kazooie"

So after my friend died his brother wanted to play, so we made a new character. Gave him a stereotypical European facial structure with bright red hair, mutton chops, red glasses, and a burly figure. Named him "Mickmeister".

We had a lot of fun with Mickmeister, lol. Every time we charged up a strong attack or killed a group of enemies we'd yell in a high pitched voice "MEEEEEEEKKKK MEEEIIISTERRRRRRR"

I remembered that we could use Spotify for custom music now, so we started playing through the game with early 2000s metal music for extra laughs. Disturbed, Korn, and even some Linkin Park for good measure lmao

I showed them (very early optional NPC spoiler)
where Eileen was
and we tried to kill her. First he and his brother took their shots at it, but they both died. When it was my turn I said I needed my zen mode music and put this on before charging into her room, two handed axe in hand.

Came very, very, VERY close to killing her after about three and a half minutes of vial/charge attack spam, but when I thought I was at a safe distance she surprised me by pulling out a gun and shooting me in the face.

I had to leave after that so we shut off the game and his brother left saying "I'm gonna go listen to some Disturbed now see ya kids later"

Probably one of my favorite gaming sessions hahaha

It's not far from where you warp in.

Well shit, I'm blind.

I BEAT BLOODBORNE!!!!

I got the true ending as well.
I can't believe you end up turning into an old god/great one.

This is the first game where I have spent 60+ hours on it, beaten it, and am already ready to play through it again. Seriously, I already beat the first boss again on NG+ and want more.

This game is too good. It has easily earned a place in my top 5 if not top 3 games of all time. (FFVII>Deus Ex>Bloodborne/FFX tie)

So good. Based Miyazaki... I hope this game sells an assload and we get a sequel. Praise the Moon!

Almost done with the chalice dungeons. Need to get (4) Red Jelly mats. Guess I missed 2 of them on my NG run in the lecture hall area. Would it be faster at this point to just run through lower loran chalice dungeon twice to get the red jelly? I just started in NG+ so it would take me awhile to get the 2 from the main game.

WHAT THE FUCK?

A big glowing shining light levitated me and ripped me apart. What the hell was that?

No story or level spoilers, but maybe an enemy? I'm not sure.

Where is the key to the door above the healing church? I think that's the last area for me to open up. I can go fight the final boss but I don't want to do that yet. Also, do chalice dungeons scroll with your character in new game plus? I haven't really done much of them and I would like to, but I also want to go fight the final boss. I wish the game didn't automatically kick you to new game plus when you win...

So finally made it back to
Hypogean Gaol
and got my butt worked by the three
Hunters
. Any tips? I tried to isolate them, but they all chased me down.
