I just ran past it. Have a rune equipped that adds +200 Frenzy resist. I'm fine.

There's a lever that drops it down into an abyss. Then you take a lift down there. BTW, make contact |o_ when you find it (for a minute or 2).
Wait,
there's another way? Is there an actual fight against it? I got the switch before I actually found the brain, didn't even consider the possibility of another way to fight it.

Just finished the game after 54 hours. Level 93. This was my first "Souls" game and what a ride, loved every second of it.
Loved the combat, the trick weapons and countering with a firearm followed by a visceral attack felt amazing. The enemy variety was awesome, the bosses are great, the whole place and setting is unforgettable.
Really glad I went in and decided to try this game. Will probably dust off my copy of Dark Souls after this (didn't play it).

Um...I'm in my first Chalice Dungeon and I'm getting +19 Blood Echoes every few seconds when standing idle.
What is going on? Not that I'm complaining or anything

i took out Paarl pretty easily. 2 shots of a level 6 canon with bone dust and a couple of swipes did it.
I dont bother with guns to parry anymore, i just like carrying around my canon for crowd control and bosses.
10 bullets per shot sucks though, it really should be 5.

Reminds me that I need to max out my Cannon. 4 shots isn't too bad but damn, I'd probably be out of Quicksilver Bullets real quick given the rate at which I use my firearm.
5 per shot would make it waaaaaaaaaaaaay too broken. If anything, it should be more than 10.

From the base lamp (the one outside near the two lifts),
take the cage lift up, then take the other cage lift up with the broken door and there will be a window you can jump through. Follow the path and you'll cross a bridge with those brain guys, get past them and explore that area. There's a lever that drops the giant brain. Then back in the main building with the metal guys and the big ogre looking guys, there's another cage lift that takes you down the abyss to where the big brain dropped. Also, you might want to get the Blood Rock over where the giant brain was before you drop it.

Finally beat the game a couple of days ago with the
I spread my stats all over the place so I could use any weapon and figure out which ones I like the best. Started a new character and will probably be going for a Dex build. Can't wait to Platinum it.

Yes, probably summoned enemies running into a trap.
Did you use the iron key to get there? I'd wait and go a different way. I never went in front of it.

EDIT: I knew my luck had to run out eventually. Got attacked by this ugly, blurry looking red thing and it stopped happening.
How do I record footage from the prior few minutes?

If it was red, it was probably a summoned enemy.
Oh, and just press Share. Records for at least a few minutes before you pressed it.

Hit share and then whatever button it says at the bottom to save video.
It was probably a re-spawning enemy that kept getting killed.

Hmm, opened a door in a Loran Chalice Dugeon and a dozen summoned spiders (from a bell maiden) rushed me, they were basically walking into the door while I opened it. Unfair.

okay.. tonitrus sucks. range is crap and it doesn't stagger enemies well enough.
hard to find anything worth replacing the hunter axe with.
also.. I randomly accidently emote sometimes when I'm trying to play, whcih gets me killed, and when I TRY to do shortcuts to emote it never works. I'll never undertsand this.

After you defeat a boss, if there is no elevator leading to the next layer, then you have completed it.

I didn't even know you could have a legit fight with the brain. I dropped it into the depths before I even came face to face with it.
