Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

If you've beaten some optional bosses, you should have gotten badges to unlock weapons at the merchant. There's a Rifle Spear in
Old Yharnam, inside a house
. And if you
were caught by an enemy and sent to jail
, there's another weapon in that area...

I found the Rifle Spear, is it any good? Just assumed it was a novelty weapon combining the shooting mechanics with it but would ultimately be useless.

I've found two entrances to
Yahar'gul, Unseen Village
so I'm going to check that out when I next get on. I hope it's a skill weapon as I'm heavily invested in that stat lol.

Holly shit... when I'm pretty much certain I've already beaten the most annoying enemies in this game, it doesnt fail to disappoint me again. What the actual **** are those things that looks like a girls in a spider body in Cainhurt castle??? How do I properly kill those things?

How do i beat the
Chikage Hunter in the Cathedral Ward
?

He moves so fast and does so much damage

Killed him easy with cane, try to stay mid range, doing that 90% of the time he just try to hit you with those knifes, hit him 2 times and dodge back, repeat.

Really wish people stop saying "one-shot", as it literally makes it sound like you killed a boss with 1 weapon hit.. Esp confusing since some bosses you can kill in 2 weapon hits (Cannon is OP apparently lol)

One by one. No seriously. also sneak up on as many as you can.

How does one "one-shot" her?

"One-shot" has a couple different contexts.

1) You killed something in One Try.

2) You killed something or something killed you in One Hit.

In this case it means that they killed her in one attempt at her, since there's not really any bosses you can OHK in Bloodborne.

It might be possible if you saved some early game optional bosses until you were very high level at the end of the game and then used a heavily upgraded Cannon with Bone Marrow Ash on them, but that's a very unlikely scenario.

I'm stuck on the (5th boss I think)
Shadows of Yharnam
.

I don't know if I want to watch a guide on it as I'm trying not to spoil myself combat wise but I would appreciate a tip or two. :P

Try to target one at time, your first target should the mage one :P

they stagger easily, so keep your pressure on them and sometimes its better to attack them to break an attack than to dodge away.

Go for the mage first, then fire dude, then melee guy

Use terrain to block them, esp that big rock

Watchdog of the Old Lords
is fucking me so hard in the chalice dungeon. I feel like I have to play perfectly. I'll get his health down, and then I'll fail to dodge one of his charges, and just fucking dead. Also feel like he is hitting me so fucking often when I feel like I successfully dodged.

I haven't played around with the Rifle Spear too much, but the two handed R2 charge attack is fun to use.

The weapon in that area you're going to check out isn't a Skill weapon :(

As a Skill build, I'm still using the Cane, with Blades of Mercy as backup. Wish there were more Skill weapons in the game.

I learned this is some stupid term from MMOs where you do it first try. oh well, we'll need to deal with it.

Isn't there an end game weapon that scales decently with skill? Regardless glad I switched to quality early on. Ludwig+ wheel ftw

The Skill based weapons are the hardest to obtain or take the longest to obtain. A few are in the optional area with a pretty tough boss and one requires you to beat the game.

Is that what it means? I was so god damn confused... I was thinking how the hell did people One shot
Vicar Amelia
and what not...

Yes it is indeed a stupid term to use... Thanks for clarifying what they meant.

Yeah I hate the term as well. Should be reserved for actually one shot. Which you could do in previous games.

I'm enjoying BB more now that I can co-op "freely". But I'm not sold on the world. It is not something I really want to explore, to be honest. I like Dark Souls setting more.

Also, is anyone annoyed by the chromatic aberration? Makes the art-work a disservice.

I'm now convinced G
erhman
's jumping attack (the one where he jumps and slashes the air) is unavoidable. Such bullshit.

My tip is to
focus on the katana guy first
.

Thanks for the tips :) but whenever I
go for the mage dude the candle dude just comes up behind me and burns me to death. :P happens whenever I target one of the others.

Didn't get to play all weekend. After work tonight I think I'm going to go back to all the places I've been and check them out again since I've beaten
Rom
.

Also saw a place I missed in Old Yarnham. There is a drop you can do and it had chests stuff in it. Totally missed it on first run of the area. This game makes just walking around old areas fun. Just amazing game, really.

Which weapons are these? I have the
Chikage
, but that's more towards a Bloodtinge weapon than pure skill.

OK I just beat
blood starved beast
and some creature
put me in a bag and now im in unseen village
is it the natural progression of the game or I went to a wrong place

Finished the game and wow, it finished strong. Enjoyed it immensely just as I thought I would. Will absolutely go through the NG+. Already see I have a
Burial Blade. Looking forward to trying that out!

Is just a Bloodborne thing. Some play the whole game and never get kidnapped and some, like yourself, do. Word of warning, though. Where you are going is not pleasant. Tread carefully.

It is an optional area for now. High lv enemies, but also some really good stuff if you can manage. That is the earliest location one can reliably farm Twin blood stone shards from, aka get +4-6 weapon upgrades.

Agreed. I always think of "One shot" as, "Killed with one hit".

You know, the thing bosses do to me all the time.

Like that NPC hunter with the cannon in the Unseen Village. That was a surprise.

is there a boss there?

It means both and I've heard people use it as both for as long as I can remember in gaming. Can't fault people for using a common terminology of it. It's especially prevalent among people who have played MMOs. It's really not that confusing imo.

"Give it a shot" doesn't usually mean to literally shoot something. It means "give it a try". Thus, if you killed something in one go, you killed it in one shot.

And while people tend to say "she one-shot me" if killed by something, I tend to find that people say they "killed it in one hit" or OHK'd something if they kill something with just one attack.

Yep, exactly how I got past them on Saturday. Took me about a dozen or so tries. Fun fight though.

I think this was the most exhilarating boss fight so far for me. By the time I had only one guy left, I was out of blood vials. The fight literally came down to the last swing, where I emerged victorious.

There was a thread a couple of days ago about your hands shaking after an intense moment in video games. In that thread, I wrote that it never happens to me when playing single player games. And of course, Bloodborne got me eating crow.

More like the crow
with the head of a dog
(late game enemy spoiler) eats you :p

You can knock them down easily with the R2 charge attack of the axe in its transformed mode. If you happen to have one of those, I'd give it a shot with that.

2H and charge attack. The hunter AI in the game is good about dodging your regular attacks, but no so much charged attacks, as he just kinda walks toward you and takes it. I was using Ludwig's Holy Blade, which probably helped, since its charge attack is a thrust with really good range. When he starts tossing numbing mists, you get free swings as well.

When he begins the attack, make sure you're somewhat away from him. when he throws the scythe in the air, dodge just under him. It will miss every time.
