Is there any shortcut under Byrgenwerth Tower or is it simply for decoration? I'm on my NG+3 and never found anything that could lead here, any idea?

It's the lowest level of Byrgenwerth Tower...

How is your soul count so high and your insight so low? And don't you get scared you'll lose them all?

i'm at what i believe is the end of the game and i haven't seen c
astle
c
ainhurst
and maybe one more area
the locked door at the top of the healing church
. can someone just confirm the following question with a yes or no?

if i go and talk to gerhman in the hunter's dream, will that trigger the end game? i'd rather go find and explore those areas and fight the optional bosses before goingt o NG+

Yes.

Cause I play Chalice dungeons a lot and there you get 300K-500K per floor, very easy to get and since I don't want to level up anymore I'm not scared if I loose them :)

Fuck me,
amygdalla
in the chalice?...my least favorite boss in the game. I swore to never fight him again. This platinum trophy is looking less appealing.

Yes, I just killed it, too. Then I hit 90k souls, then I ran into some
blue things
. They tried to kill me, so I ran away and used a teleport card.

Those things are pushovers...
Unless they have tentacles coming out of their head, then they're a threat
. I'd get back there asap, there's a good rune there.

What level are you at the moment, and how come you on don't want to level up anymore?

I'm level 205 and there isn't much grow at this point, might get everything to hard cap eventually but for now I want to keep it that way, it's already serious overkill for everything. Once I get everything from chalice dungeons (weapons, runes) then I'll start a new character.

40 hours in and I just found out you can climb ladders faster by holding circle... I was like, will it work this way too? It did...

Holy crap dude you're hard core. You must have been playing this game solid!

Not sure if already posted, but Vaati is doing a challenge -- 15 minutes from the start of the game to kill as many hunters as possible. submit your video to compete.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLei0sHIL9Q

prizes of PS4s and collector's edition copies of the game are being offered to the top ranking people, and their videos will also be shown on the channel.

I found
that guy praying near the entrance to the church that leads to old Yarnham, and I attacked him.
I feel like I've made a huge mistake...

Am I doing something wrong or is the matchmaking really terrible for PVP?

Like, worse than Steamworks Dark Souls terrible.

I really need to start trying these chalice dungeons soon. I'm level 134 and I haven't even attempted a single one :-/

I ignored them until I was almost done with my NG+ run and sadly you still have to run through the early ones for materials while you one shot everything. Super dull.

It would be difficult for you to make a worse mistake. (minor NPC spoilers)
That guy is such a great person too. Nicest person in any souls game.

, one of the last bosses, is the one that are giving me the biggest headache in this entire game! Its just ridiculous the area he reaches, the damage he does, the parries he blocks.... so infuriating!!! And in probably 2 hours I could not find a single person to help there... Damn! I hate how appellative this game can become sometimes!

Do you mean the Soft Cap? 99 in everything is the Hard Cap. You still get stat gains post 50, though severely diminished in returns, and it's the actual Soft Cap.

^You should probably spoiler that boss name.

edit- you edited in the spoiler, good

isn't 25 some kind of soft cap too? i've been messing with leveling up arcane just for shits and giggles because i thought 25 was a soft cap

It's not. 25 is the start of slightly diminished returns for putting 1 point into a stat; it happens again at 50.

I have Skill at 38, if I put 1 point into it to make it 39, I still get 3 points of Attack for my Threaded Cane.

You consume 3 for one of the endings! As long as you consume them at any point before a particular boss, you'll get that ending. Each just gives you 3 insight

so
holding onto the umbilicals is not a good idea then? if you could try and answer that without spoiling, i'd appreciate it!

What finally helped me get him was just avoiding during pretty much the whole fight and then unload on him as soon as I had the chance.

Once I switched to that mindset I got him on my second try.

Shoot him with your gun a lot.

It is. past 25 you start getting like half of what you would get before, and at 50 you get like 1 point of damage for every 4 levels you put in lol.

He kicked my ass too, second hardest boss in the game for me. That being said, it's such a fun fight that I didn't even get mad when he murdered me. I ended up beating him when I went with a quicker weapon that had a good dodge attack, didn't bother with parries(never do). If you're not perfect with parries, you probably shouldn't bother with them as they'd just get you hurt.

Yeah you do, but you have to spend a few points to even gain anything and it's really not worth it. Growth is very minimal if any and enemies still scale with your level so while you getting barely anything like one point for defense or 10 for health the enemies scale those levels differently.

The word "cap" implies that you reach capacity for that stat (i.e. putting 1 more point into it produces nothing), but you still get something, the gain is just diminished from what you were getting before.

Honesty time.

I when I reached Mergo on my 1st playthrough I discovered the dupe glitch. It did not ruin my 1st playthrough thankfully since I was 95% done at that point. I went crazy duping Kin Coldblood(12) and got to level 230. (I also duped 198 blood chucks, and 99 stones)

I then realized how boring this made everything so I restarted a new Char and now I am up to level 140 without duping and it feels so much better.

Nice thing is since my duped char is 50+ in every stat I can experimant with weapons. And see compare their performance at +10 with maxed stats. That is the only reason I have not deleted him. I know longer play anything with him.

Moral of the story is duping is stupid. Right now I am motivated to do chalices to get blood stones to advance the story to get that +18% blood gem (
the one near the lever where you drop the brain)

I am just glad I discovered this late enough it did not ruin the game for me. And I am glad its gone because it can be hard to resist temptation to dupe those chunks and stones.

so

Holding on to them is fine. They have no affect on anything unless you actually use them. You will probably know once you've hit the point where you need to use have used them you'll have to make a choice and if you don't eat them before you kill the boss after that choice, you get the "normal" ending instead of the "secret" one or whatever.

It's more accurate to say there are 3 "caps".

25/50/99

25 is first cap, you get less stats per points but it's like 40% less points (instead of 5 you will get like 3).

50 is the next cap and now you will get 80% less stats (so instead of 5 you will get 1).

After 99 you get nothing from it making it the true hard cap.

It's still worth putting points in attributes up to 50 (with exception of Endurance which actually caps at 40).

Eh? when was this confirmed?

I'm curious how to go about tackling the snake-headed men with a blade of mercy (without parrying)
Two handed stand, dodge their attack to the side and do the side dodge stab attack(R1 after dodge) then L2 attack to back off, would be pretty safe I guess. Had no problem fighting them with BoM.

Yeah and after 50 you'll get one so not worth it. That's why 25 is soft cap and 50 hard cap for many cause it's not worth to level up beyond that.

Is there a really good blood gem that has nice damage and restores your health a bit? I'm talking REALLY good, like at least a 14% damage increase. I wanna try to negate the Chikage's health drain a bit.
