im in the first chalice dungeon, layer 3.

Went down the ladder, up ahead is some kind of energy dragon thing shooting fireballs or something at me.

Do I dare take it on?

The One Reborn.
Done. I am quite bad at this game but most of it comes down to how terrified I am lurking through its depraved world, it gets to me. Time for farming blood vials and blood echoes. Never bought a guide for a game but pre ordered one for bloodborne. Something tells me I will be playing it throughout the year.

Having all but finished the game: farming for bullets and vials add nothing. I'd have lowered the cap on bullets and refilled both bullets and vials automatically on load. It would have incentivised trading health for bullets, which is so potent but so easy to miss.

Why are bullets and vials such a problem for people when you can buy them after a run? You don't need to farm shit because there's a dedicated store that allows you to buy things on the cheap.

Hell, once you pass the BSB, the amount of souls you get per kill is more than enough to fill up both numbers. It pains me to see people trying to farm stuff when they can just buy it outright.

I really like the blood vials system and can see why they chose to go in this direction, but its big failing is when you run out of supplies. Causes the game to come to a bit of a standstill as there's no reason not to go and grind souls for a bit so you can stock back up. Estus, on the other hand, never broke the flow of play.

Even when you aren't having to farm for them I like the vials less, because you almost never deplete your stack of 20 vials (+ drops) during regular play, outside of boss battles. There's really no concept of managing your healing in this game, or related to that playing more carefully because it's a long area and you can't afford to take much damage. I feel like a lot of the decision making that mattered in Dark Souls is downplayed in Bloodborne. Because you're so mobile you can heal almost any time you want, you don't need to wait for a good opportunity, positioning matters less because you can spam dodge if you get surrounded, stamina management rarely comes into play etc.

Doing a run through the (mid-game area spoiler)
Forbidden Woods
is much more lucrative than trying to farm the starting Yarnham area. Lots of Souls + good bullet/vial drops. That's mid-to-late game.

Once you get to chalice dungeons, you get so much souls that you can just stay topped off by buying them straight. I've never had an issue with supply. A quick few enemies is enough to buy 20 or 30 of each.

If you spend all your money to fill up your vials/bullets you can't use it for other, more important things.

I did almost all of NG with Ludwigs Holy Blade and almost all of NG+ with Burial Blade. I think Burial Blade is better now. The scythe is just as good at dealing with crowds, and feels faster / uses less stamina. Despite having 100 less ATK than Ludwigs with the same gems, I get more DPS per volly on a boss with BB, although Ludwigs is better at stunlocking.

Well that's totally opposite of what i am experiencing, i am using Holy blade most of the time and stamina management is vital for me. Each swing takes a hefty amount of stamina and add dodging to it i run out of it very quickly. And i usually run out of vials :P

What downplayed it guns for me. After the first area with human enemies i rarely used them. Maybe to kill a crow or a dog that's all. I never dare to use them against bosses i am not sure if i can do visceral attack on every boss or enemy so i don't wanna risk myself.

Stayed up until early hours of the morning beating that boss
on the hidden church roof to get the crown
....... would not give in until I kicked his ass, dogged determination. Then had bloodbourne dreams and now sat in work knackered... but it was worth it!!!!!!!!!!!

What's the boss fight?

Undead Giant, Darkbeast Paarl.....and even Vicar Amelia. Fuck her!
Some people told me "Hey, she's easy as shit". No, she isn't. The Wich of Hemwick was easy. I killed her on my first try, without losing a single bit of energy and without knowing anything about her. But Amelia..... to hell with her!

Still looking for Glyph Codes for Chalice Dungeons with these Runes if anyone has them:

Clear Deep Sea - Add slow poison RES +300
Deep Sea - Add frenzy RES +100
Formless Oedon - Max QS bullets held UP +1

Just need those 3 to completely finish my Rune collection.

I actually went and got the frenzy res rune before I did N
ightmare
of M
ensis
this time. Night and freaking day. The
searchlight or whatever
barely does anything.

Oh man im think i figured this game out. I just beat the Bloodletting beast i used all my molotovs, all my vails, all my bullets, all my poision knifes. I was trading blows with him it i didnt avoid shit, man i played bad but with a sliver of health left i got him down on a knee and i could do a visceral attack and i won.

maaan.......why do i play this game.

Jesus fuck the summoning system in this game is complete and total ass. I've had one successful summon. Half the time it just pings for awhile and the disconnects me from the server, wasting my insight.

In the future please don't fix what isn't fucking broken, FROM.

Most people consider her one of the hardest bosses in the game, so there you go. Took me a couple tries to get her down. Nasty stuff!

I think I've died more times to her than the rest of the game cumulatively. I just have the last boss and her and no other boss took me more than two tries. Seriously, fuck that goddamn charge/hit me while I'm down combo.

I wouldn't call her "easy" but "hard" is also not something I'd attribute to her, especially if you can learn her patterns. Really, perhaps compared to all the other bosses, her patterns are predictable and she's prone to do the same thing over and over and over again.

Just be clever with your camera lock ons and such. Really, for being a "feature", camera lock on can be such a pain in the arse in so many boss fights.

And where might that chap be then?

Go into the house in the hunters dream and exit it to first door to the left. There is another "messenger" pool/bath. You need 10+ insight to be able to buy stuff there. Fire Paper and Bolt Paper cost 1 insight.

ah, beaten. This thread is still fast in OT4

best weapon to use for the
fire dog boss in the first chalice dungeon

My main weapon is the threaded cane, and i did pretty good with it (in whip form) but then I died.

Any weapon recommendations? All I have is a saw cleaver/spear , hunter axe and kirkhmmer on me.

The main issue is just that lock on isn't useful for large enemies or ones that have large sweeping attacks. Your roll/sidestep is too restricted by lock on and you have less freedom of movement.

Learning to play without lock-on is another step in being very competent and adept at every encounter the game throws at you.

because it was probably made by the B Team

artificial difficulty isn't my idea of fun

No, it's just that this is the problem with randomized dungeons. You can easily run into scenarios where you just get clusterfucks of enemy placements, especially later on in the dungeons.

Also the Chalice depths aren't very clear with how difficult they really are going to be. Like saying Depth 3 is NG late game or "Depth 4 should only be attempted when you have reached NG+" could be much more helpful.

Also the "B Team" made the better Dark Souls game
neener neener.

What is the recommended level to go through Night
mare of Mensis
? That place scares the shit out of me and is superdifficult.

I'm level 70, but have sorta diminished my character potential by going more for a quality build levelling skill & bloodtinge after getting that sweet Chikage katana & Evelyn (was going strength only using the Ludwig Sword first). Both weapons' damage potential is about equal but I use the L. Sword for bosses and Chikage for mobs. The mobs just wreck me out there though. I have about 30 vitality and 22 endurance.

Not gonna mention the trouble E
briatas
is giving me. Lack of summon partners isn't helping. I've done everything else that is to be done so far though. Those are the last two things that remain.

3 bosses remaining for my NG+, NG+ certainly wasn't as challenging as I'd hoped.

I haven't fought
Yharnam
yet though, I'll get to her after I beat NG+.

God fucking damnit at those 3 hunters inside the building where a potential checkpoint is located at in Yahargul, unseen village. They are so fucking hard to beat.

It really helps if you went to Hypo
gean goal
beforehand through
one of those bag-enemies
and unlocked the shortcut door to the left of the lamp. I just circumvented them 'till a summon partner decided to take them on lol.

Yeah, after the first try, I didn't even use the lock-on anymore.
Still, no chance. Seems like I have to skill my "Strength" a lot more -_-
Damage with "Ludwig's Holy Blade" is shitty as hell, so I have to fight her with my axe.

Hardest boss for me till now (almost at the end of BB, not counting chalice). Helped around 4 people beat him, died around 6 times helping someone. Even caved and tried to summon someone (i want to beat all bosses alone) but everybody seems to summon for help :) and it didn't work. Watched some videos of ppl beat him but he wasn't as aggressive in the videos compared to when i played him.

My gf came into the living room after long BB session and said: you still trying to beat him? haha, you are not going to make it". That's when i beat him and made a dance in the living room.

You're at the "right" level at that area. Either play super safe with the opening area or book it to the left.

Also the boss you mentioned, you should stay up in her face and right up against her. This *should* trigger the faceslam and give you plenty of time to just repeatedly wail on the boss.

If you run back to the lamp only one of them follow you in and can be disposed of solo. Then you can go back and fetch another one :)

I think it will be the first weapon to get nerfed alongside BoM.

I don't get the hype around it. Was forced to play the whole game with it for my Arcane build character and I just didn't enjoyed the weapon. Moveset is too meh even if the damage is alright.

Kirkhammer is the better version of the light/big trick weapon.

is this permanent roar? you can use it always?

It's a consumable (with infinite uses) that uses your bullets as casting material.

Thanks. I booked it to the left a couple of times, but that doesn't work for the sp
iders as soon as you enter the castle though lol. Those give me the most trouble. Guess I should just try and take it slow and not try and run past them. They chase you through the entire level.

Is this (bold) consistent? I was given access after beating CB and having around 5 insight (I think), but then found access is revoked and randomly reinstated. I've never been above 7 insight.

Yah don't run past them. Once you're inside and up the stairs on the right side, the guys outside should have either left or there is only one or two to take care of. Then just take the spiders slowly and head on forth.

The rest of the level is much more manageable, I would say.

Thanks, will try tonight.

About the boss we were talking about, I do fairly well throughout but she always cheapshots me with her arcane lasers. Rolling like a madman doesn't really seem to help. Any tips on how to best dodge that one?
