Grand Theft Auto V Steam pre-load is live

Download is finished and on my hdd. Got a stable 13 mb/s throughout it all.

Now...just wait.

...and wait.

Hooray, the waiting game! My favorite game!

I really don't know if I should buy this a third time. Played through the PS3 version about halfway before giving up due to the technical flaws...bought the PS4 version and played the intro but not much past that. I really want to dive deep into this game but not sure if it's worth buying it again or just playing the PS4 copy I already have instead.

Very nearly the same, except I finished it on PS3. Still very tempted though.

This is the game that finally made me cave and buy a 500GB SSD. I have been jugglng things on a 128GB drive forever now. Can't do it anymore.

Why did you take if off your SSD? You can also add a library to your SSD and install there.

I was trying out a Windows 8 install (extra copy from work) on a spare drive in anticipation of Windows 10. Even with the start menu hacked back in, still prefer Windows 7. This just gives me a good excuse to move back :)

I really wonder how it will run and how the online will work. With all the problems on consoles I fear the worst. And 30 players multiplayer!... Will it be the lag fest of the century?

I wish I could justify buying this for a third time.. argh..

The only thing I can think of is that I just built my new PC and need a game to test it out with..

Pausing the launcher seems to work, but closing it seems to make it lose progress.
In other news, is anyone finding the rockstar downloader really slow? My universities internet can get up to 10 MB/s on Steam, But the ockstar downloader has only been up to 7 MB/s, and is currently only at 1. I guess there's a huge load on the servers.

Do you reckon we can pause & close the download window without losing all progress?

Tried it, it'll resume if you pause and quit out, but I'm pretty sure it resumed at roughly 2GB less than I had downloaded before. Maybe it was just 1 big file it had to restart.

I will post reminder here too.

You will need 125GB of HDD space for Steam Pre-Load. Steam needs double space for decryption on release day.

Damn, my SSD is only 500GB and full of half-finished games, no way I'm going to be able to free up 125GBs for the pre-load.

Is there a way to pre-load on another drive and then install on the SSD at launch?

Pre-Loading as well (@10X Australia speed). Really curious how the port will be and how it will perform.

Jesus Christ, I'm not sure that will even fit on my SSD without deleting all my other games, and there's no way Pillars of Eternity leaves my hard drive any time soon.

Quite likely. I believe Steam will sometimes do the same thing if you quite out during a download. Thanks.

I pre-loaded to C, moved the folder with all files over to D and made a symbolic link so Steam thinks it's all still there on C.

Thank god Valve allows third-party content servers.
In all fairness, they've probably increased their capacity by a large margin on the back of this. Heck, at the ISP I work at, we up the capacity of our network when a new Top Gear releases on iPlayer.

No real need anymore. :(

Nuuvem should have keys in few hours according to their twitter, so I will download it tomorrow.

Now the question is, on SSD or nonSSD ?

Probably nonSSD, because GTA will be paused when Witcher comes and I don't want to have to reinstall or move the installation.

....should have gotten bigger SSD :/

Yeah, but there are only two Valve severs here in Aus. versus more than half a dozen ISP-ran servers. If the former were the only option, download speeds would be awful right now.
