Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

So has anyone managed to get this item? I posted about this earlier and it seems I'm not the only one to be puzzled by this item. It's inside the Lower Pthumerian chalice dungeon, layer 4. I think I have managed to obtain every item thus far in the game, and I can't just let this one slide.

I'm right at the end now. Think I'm gonna just do the chalice dungeons, don't want to go to NG+ until I've killed all the bosses so have to wait for a patch to fix the elevator bug for the
Ebrietas
fight.

Load of bullshit a bug like that got through to release.

Invaders don't even have full health when they invade. Matches are already quick and fast paced as it is.

I fully agree with you. In fact, that's what I'm doing now. I'm also doing coop since I don't want to beat the game without defeating all bosses. And we're missing out on a chalice because of the glitch. I want to plat this game in one play through.
 
There's like no point in doing co-op for Defiled Chalices.

You already get like 30% less health for going into co-op.... then you get an additional 50% HP reduction for Defiled Chalices.

You work so hard to get your HP past the "get one shot by everything" territory in Defiled Chalices and when you co-op you are put back into "get one shot by everything" territory.

I would've been ok with this if the time it took to call your buddy (despite being in the same made dungeon, in the same location and using the same password) didn't take so fucking long and he has to actually progress in the Chalices to be called upon...


It's just way easier to do it solo. The co-op/matchmaking system in Bloodborne continues to amaze me in terms of how much they have fucked this up. A terrible blemish on an other superb game.

just make a run for it.
turret guy can't hit you anymore and the other one won't follow you.
then you can climb his tower and fight him there and when he is dead, you can take care of the other one.

I am 14 attempts in and can barely get it to 20% of it's health while using 18 vials. Starting to get frustrated.

I am using a +10 saw cleaver with crazy good gems, none of my other weapons come close.
 
An interesting thing happened. I rang the bell right before the fight with shadow of yharnam. Homedude shows up but doesn't follow me into the mist. He sits down right outside the mist and 2 of the shadow of yharnam guys keep trying to attack him. I focus on one at a time. I figure, fuck it i don't need him, and i beat shadow of yharnam by myself. I few minutes later he IMs me on PSN and says "You have passed the trial of the forest". Any significance to this?

I think they specifically made that chalice to be the ultimate skill test. Because like you said, summons will get one shotted by normal enemies let alone bosses. I wonder what happened.
 
Heh. I've just beaten BSB for the 77th time and I can clearly hear the
crying baby
now. Didn't think it was tied to insight or that you'd be able to hear it so early in the game.

I need to find something to spend my insight on. D:
 
You know one stupid thing? How you can do a leaping R2 with, say, the kirkhammer, and if you're hit (by a damn crow even) just as you're about to bring it down, you don't complete the attack. OK, that's all I got.

did they only attack him and you could just hit them, with no danger?

BSB is a fun boss fight in my opinion. I slaughtered it 20 times but 77 times is incredible. I bet you could beat it with your eyes closed :P.
 
Can anyone help me me get that elevator unstuck in front of Ebrietas ? Summoning right now, password is whiskey.


I just need to take that bitch down.

The coffin skip.

Just talk to that window NPC in Forbidden Woods and he'll give you, even if you didn't beat any bosses yet.

This way, I only needed to kill Gascoigne on NG++ in order to access Nightmare Frontier again.

I am more frustrated by the fact that your co-op buddy has to unlock individual floors on his Chalice in order to progress with you.

In addition to the fact that even if you properly do the whole co-op requirements (be in the same location, ring the bells at right time Resonant before Beckoning because reasons..., be in the same exact generated Chalice, have the same obscure password) it sometimes takes a long time to connect for no reason other than the system is just simply borked.
 
Okay, seriously, fuck the Lower Pthumerian Chalice. I'm on Layer Three & hit a serious brick wall fighting some agressive dogs & spiders. It should not have been that difficult. I didn't even fight the boss in that layer yet. The first time in this game I got seriously frustrated. I might just skip trying to go after the platinum for now & just finish the story.

The connection issues is probably server issues From is experiencing. I remember reading about problems when DkS 2 released.

The elevator to the boss gets stuck on the lower level so you can't get down. Nothing resets it. Happened to me when I was running to the boss and forgot the elevator was down so fell to my death down the hole, my corpse activated the lift but when I respawned the lift was still down and couldn't be brought up again.

That's hilarious, just sounds like it's something he does. Since cooping causes boss's stats to increase... so you were on hard mode.
 
Hoo, decent couple of hours with the game today.

  • Went through Byrgenwerth, getting revenge on the
    Hunter
    who took me down the first time.
  • Took 5 or 6 attempts back to back, but brought down that bastard R
    om the Vacuous Spider
    . Just charged in with a flaming sword, though the last attempt I decided to kill the first wave of
    spiders
    before concentrating on him properly to help alleviate the crowding that was happening by the third appearance.
  • Entered the U

    V
    illage
    . I understand the distaste of the place now. Found the shortcut though, so that helped some things. Only thing I haven't gotten to I believe is that there looks to be an item in a cell with two gates, but I can't open either of them. Same room with the ogre napping and the other that'll drop down on top of you.

    there went down on the second attempt. The first attempt was spoiled by the jigsaw/menagerie were-thing hanging outside the cell I was going to use against them.

Level 80 right now, with Ludwig's at +9. 30 Str, 30 End, and 27 Str being the highest. Skil is in the 20s somewhere.
 
I don't have much tolerance for people calling such and such boss fights BS but I am starting to feel that way about this fight.

It's extremely hard to reliably land a hit if I lock on, and if I don't, the rolls are way different than the fast dodges, ruining the timing I've spent all game learning. And the camera spins around like mad, and the boss jumps around so fast I end up swinging at the air even with the faster saw form. I keep getting hit as I enter the room even when I manage to lock on first so I can do a dodge.

In short, after 20 attempts with no genuine progress made except on how to dodge a small subset of the patterns, I am starting to get pissed in an unfun way.

So, how the duck quack do I reliably get it stunned? I can't figure it out. Seems to just magically happen once every fourth fight.

Beat the shadow bosses and rom. I was expecting him to be way harder but was a complete pushover once I stayed away from the spiders. Also got the blades from finishing Eileen's quest line.
 
Wow, had no idea you could befriend the Gattling Gun Hunter high atop Old Yarnham to get the special emote.

Makes me want to go for that in NG+.

I beat it without armor save a top hat, if that counts. My goal is to learn every boss as I have BSB. And yeah, he's one of my favorite FROM bosses ever. His speed and aggressiveness is so intimidating at first until you realize he's blinded by his own skin.

I'll move on once I've helped a 100 summoners beat him. :P

I played Bloodborne for 2 hours...it was enough for me to get a PS4
 
I haven't gotten a single interesting thing from a Chalice Dungeon. I'm not exactly having a load of fun playing them either. Don't think I'll be doing them anymore.
