Ok, Watch Dog in defiled isn't too bad. Was able to get him down to half before I died. Was able to dodge a good bit of his attacks.

Yes, it was the guy
eating people on the rooftop
, and if you only have one cord you also missed the
Abandoned Workshop
. Though that doesn't matter, because you need 3 cords anyway and you can't get them anymore except NG+.

Edit: Well, I think you are still able to get the 3rd one from
Iosefka
...

I think I am like 177. Maybe 180. Have not farmed much. Just level up whenever I am have enough echos and always wear the +30% rune.

Hey, if you want to keep leveling and not stop it's all good, you'll just have trouble invading or doing co-op if you keep going. Depth 5 is about level 90, so you will have no problem with any modifiers.

Dam I'm only level 100 and just got the platinum. That’s mostly out of choice though didn't see the point in levelling much further, as it would limit my pvp opportunities.

Amazing patience during that fight. There were moments watching when I imagined myself getting greedy with an extra swing or two -- probably resulting in a OHKO. Nice work!

Well I noticed from the start that patience would be the key in this fight. Problem is, I don't have any. :P That's why I got killed earlier during this fight when the sucker had only 1% or so left, and I wanted the kill too fast. Result was that he bitch slapped me so hard back to my lantern it made my head hurt.

What was really fun though was to start to see his paterns and start knowing when's a good time to strike. The beginning was easy, but after he starts laying out those combo's with his head it's all about taking your time. I decided not to take any big risks and tried getting hits from which I know they would land without him being able to strike back, and it worked pretty good. Sometimes it went wrong obviously, but I actually died the most because of his charging and me reacting just a fraction too late. And since those are 1 hit one kill it's a cause for frustration. :D

One of my funner and challenging fights though, mainly because it demanded a strategy which never really was my personal strong suit, so for me to finally pull it off gave me a great feeling. :)

Having a lot of fun helping people fight
Rom
. I'm level 55 right now and beat him when I was at 43 I think, so I guess I was underleveled when I fought him earlier. It's a pretty fun boss battle to help with.

There also some sort of glitch - I don't know if anybody else has had it happen. But during co-op, when you fight him -
sometimes the spiders from the second/third teleports will appear during the first phase and just stand there. If you go over and kill them while Rom is docile, when he teleports later they won't drop in and makes the fight significantly easier.
I've only seen this happen in co-op though.

I feel depth 5 is a little harder than NG+ and I feel NG+ starts at lvl 90 and ends at lvl 110 or so. I would put D5 at 120.

Depth 4 is definitly 80-90.

Also at this runes and point gems are more important than lvls. I have great runes (still looking for the +15% health one) but my gems are lacking, I have run a half dozen D5 chalices and still only have +18% attack (the one you find in NG) as my best one.

I also like knowing that if I want to do PvP I can always roll and other character, getting to this level lets me see how different weapons perform if you put your stats into stuff.

When you go to the Cathedral Ward and head down to the guy with the huge ball and chain, there are some steps that lead down to a room full of pots. Just off of that there's a locked door ... HOW THE HELL DO YOU OPEN IT!?

... I've tried everything.

It doesn't open.

If it did open I would assume it leads to the great bridge lamp area.

Has anyone tried going to this area without killing CB 1st?

Check
outside Cathedral Ward
for Eileen the Crow quest,
she should be on your left once you exist the cathedral from the front door. Talk to her, then go back to where you fought Father G, you'd fight a hunter there and Eileen will join the fight, make sure she doesn't die in the fight and don't hit her a lot. Esiest way is, once Eileen join the fight, just keep shooting the hunter with your pistol whenever he try to attack her, let her do the real damage.

So I just did this and received Heir and Approval. Is there a next step?

Was apparently supposed to be a shortcut to the Cleric Beast but was taken out for some reason.

Man, the final boss fight was great! Dat atmosphere and music. I went for the "true" ending or whatever. I beat
Gehrman
on my first try:

However,
I died to the Moon Presence once since camera lock-on screwed me over in that fight and got backed up in a corner.

Nah, no way, man. I plowed through on my STR character at 90ish. Actually, I feel like 80 might be more appropriate. Depth 4 and 5 are pretty much the same to me. Gems don't really add much, just make it go by faster. My STR character only had some weak 13% or so physical gems throughout all of them.

Im near the end the game, concerning
Gehrman - is he the last boss of the game? so if you beat him you start NG+ straight away? i was wondering does all your items get transferred as well? because i have a lot of cold blood echos and stuff.

ummm depends on the ending you want :P but yes he is in your case because it sounds like it's your first time and you wouldn't be asking otherwise

Lower Loran 3 D
arkbeast

aarl
camera and framerate is terrible, feels like 15 fps when he does the AOE thing.

i'm level 50, anyone want to help me with this fucker? send me a message.

is there realy no one, who notices that you are right above the ridge you fought cleric beast and that the dooe leads there?

Playing through second time with an arcane build, really disappointing. About the biggest source of non physical damage I've done is with tonitrus, and I could do that on any character. I haven't gotten all the items yet, but most of them are extremely useless.

The beast roar is kind of nice when you're surrounded, otherwise tentacle claw has a long cast time and mediocre damage (and also a slow recovery), tiny tonitrus does mediocre damage for 6 QS bullets, empty phantasm shell's effect isn't noticeable. Haven't had a chance to use the gloves or a call beyond, but everything seems extremely mediocre compared to the magic builds in dark souls 1/2. Even the arcane stat scaling on weapons is bad. I feel like arcane damage is unnecessary, Bolt seems to excel against most enemies, Fire does against beasts.

Basically there's no reason to go Arcane or pump points into it. You're better off using flame paper or bolt paper for the bosses that have certain weaknesses.

Does anyone have suggestions for blood gems to put on the Blades of Mercy? I've tried rapid poison and fire, but both seem to be high risk/little reward right now.

Why would it be a shortcut to the Cleric Beast? It's miles away from that area and much much further into the game.

It's a shortcut to cleric beast. Look right below, it's the cleric beast bridge, and theirs another door just like it on the cleric beast side.

Why it was removed, who knows.

Yes, I did notice that but it's still a locked door! I wanted it open but clearly it doesn't open. I'm wondering if it will open with the DLC and perhaps give you access to the area behind the huge doors where you kill the Cleric beast?

other way around: you would beat cleric beast and then proceed to cathedral ward.

afaik you can access the other side of that door down on the cleric beast bridge.

and the gate is also leading somewhere in cathedral ward.

don't think there will be any dlc.

if, I bet you get teleported their like lecture building/nightmare rontier/ of mensis.

I judge what zone a level is by how many blood echos it gives without any runes compare to how fast you gain levels in that zone.

If you are gaining levels quickly (or enough blood to gain those levels) you are probably around the correct level. If you have to clear the entire area just to get enough to gain a lvl you are probably WAY overleveled.

How many hits does it take you to kill the average enemy?
