Ok thanks guys, will try those locations too.
Yea its random after you trigger the event. I got my stone from 3 different windows/doors in 3 different play throughs.

Do I need to use the umbilicals? I have 3, do they do anything aside from the endings?
Have you tried an arcane build? How did it do?
I actually wondered if someone could main the Hunter Torch. It is upgradeable and has good scaling.

That's not the Axe's fault, lol. She shouldn't get pushed into that geometry.Axe seriously breaks the game. You can apparently even throw this boss through the walls to kill it with this technique.

Almost no damage run.
The key in the first and second phase is to know what moves leave her most open. Attack once or twice when that happens. Third phase could be done probably faster if you manage to dodge attacks in front of her. Problem with that approach is though that her cooldown is much faster so atleast I had problems hitting her. What I found to be easiest way is just stay behind her all the time as she can't attack there.
You consume them before facing the last boss which will open another boss encounter for the 'good ending'
They are for the ending, so consume them before that fight. They also give insight.
I like Arcane a lot. Executioner's Gloves is strong, Beast Roar has it's uses. I used a Fire weapon with +VS BEAST dmg gems, and a lightning weapon with +VS KIN dmg gems. Whenever I fought humanly looking things, I switch to fire, and vice versa for nightmare-ish/celestial looking things.
I didn't use Ludwig's, I stuck with Stake Driver (bolt) and Threaded Cane (fire). Tonitrus is good until you have good gems for the other weapons. I really wish a Call from Beyond wasn't so shitty.
Every build to me has been fun. Right now I'm going through Depth 5 chalices with my Bloodtinge build. The damage on Chikage and Blunderbuss are fucking insane, but I actually find myself having trouble without the Cane. Chikage doesn't have the badass moveset that the Cane does.
After getting the platinum I'm just going though NG+ to complete Elieens quest line properly as I messed it up first time. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone posting in this thread and other related ones. Reading and posting here has been a big part of the games value for me. It's been a great game and a lot of fun reading about how everyone has been playing.
Thanks, I only just beat Rom and wasn't sure if I had to wait to consume them.

That path tolol. From what are you doing.Martyr Logarius

I'm not a fan of the axe because of how much stamina it eats. You can't really be mobile, you're kind of stuck in place abusing the Spin2Win R2, at least when compared to skill weapons.
I really need to try Beast Claws.
Definetily shouldn't. However I don't know what actually makes her go into the geometry since most of the time she just hits the wall and doesn't go into it.
It would be fine but that one guy with the knives or darts is really annoying.
So I just came back from a Chalice Dungeon and my Doll is dead, what's up with that? She was definitely alive when I left.
He don't even do shit. He hits you going up the ladder but it does zero damage and when your at the top he's a non issue. My favourite area in the game so far.
So close to beating that Bastard too. Did rom first time. Ludwigs fucked him up.
Maybe it's because you don't have Insight anymore?
I really want beast claws too, but how do you actually find them? Is it just totally random chalice?
Maybe it's because you don't have Insight anymore?
Wait wait wait
what exactly do the two options "submit your life" and "refuse" actually do?
Will the game end or get to a point where I can't go back if I choose incorrectly?
If ISubmit your life ends the game right there.Refuse gives you last boss.

If Ijust back out of the question, will it let me keep playing?
Do you think From will do some sort of balancing like they do with DS? maybe to make Arcane more viable? I hope so...
Got it. Thanks! Before you do anything, make sure you back-up your files on PSN. That way, you can do all the endings.
OK finally beat it. How do I get access to these chalice dungeons?
Yes. I know people who are on the development team and since I've played the game for 200+ hours already they asked me a lot of questions about balancing. I said "arcane is shit" and they just laughed and nodded their heads. So I think it'll happen at some point.

Is it just me or do the Souls games always lose a bit of steam in the later half. I beatand now I've mostly been warping around the world talking to npcs and deciding on what location to tackle next. It reminds me of Dark Souls after Anor Londo. I prefer the more cohesive adventure of the first half, especially because warping to the hunter's dream and then warping to whatever location you want to check is such a chore. I'm still enjoying it though and I'm definitely going to finish it, I just wish we could have a Souls game once that actually sustained that feeling of adventure that so characterizes the first half of these games all the way to the end.Rom
My main issue with arcane builds is that so few weapons are even good for them (actually really just one). And the weapons that *do* scale with arcane can't benefit well from the gems because of how shitty the gem system works in tandem with the scaling.
The secondary weapons that scale well (Blades of Mercy and Burial Blade) can't get the good buff from gems because they have the innate arcane damage that interferes with the gems. I think it's a really weird oversight (or just poor attempt at balance) and it boggles my mind.
Also I find Ludwig's really not very fun so my arcane character wasn't particularly fun to play through until super late game when I could use other weapons.
Are you playing after having the game suspended?Co op in this game is very weird. Im looking for help......i discover a resonant bell.....but no one ever comes. Im standing here....half an hour. Second boss in the game. Coop is really broken, isnt it?
I tend to agree, but I think it has more to do with the fact that when you get to, you've been playing for hours and it starts to feel more like a video game than a world to explore: you know the rules, the mechanics, what you have to check after beating an important boss, etc.Rom
Overall, Bloodborne feels more straightforward and cohesive than the previous games. After Anor Londo, three huge areas opened up all at once. In BB, after you defeat, the game gently puts you right where you need to be. Every other area is basically optional.Rom
That said, I understand the need to check a lot of things all around Yarnham after each important boss. And that's indeed a chore with the "area A -> Dream -> area B" mechanic.
Are you playing after having the game suspended?
Well, the best way to build arcane is to have 1 arcane gem to make it elemental, then add two gems that boost vs. either beast or kin. You can end up doing very good damage that way, because beasts are generally weak to fire, and kin are generally weak to bolt. I do think arcane is the weakest build overall, though. You also have Saw weapons doing bonus damage to beasts, and a lot of kin take extra damage from Thrust. So if you set up your build to have something for everything, it's really strong, and fun.
And Burial Blade and Blade of Mercy aren't Arcane weapons despite having arcane damage, they have split damage because they'd be too strong otherwise. Their move sets are insanely good, and they're just not meant to be a part of an arcane build. It's not really an oversight, though I kind of disagree with the design decision myself.
IGN ran an article about my LVL 4 chalice dungeon challenge

Some of the bosses in the defiled chalice and Ihyll chalice dungeons at LVL 4 were pretty rough.
Thewas surprisingly the hardest part of the run for me, the guy is pure evil with his throwing sickle attacks that go through pillars.Pthumerian Descendant
Had alot of fun doing this though! There's a fair amount of boss fight videos on my youtube channel if any of you are interested, all at LVL 4 of course! The final boss fight is especially cool looking in my opinion.

I personally never lost the initial feeling, I thought places like Hemwick and Cainhurst were mind-blowingly atmospheric and I enjoyed every inch of them.
Damn that's crazy. A breeze would have killed you in the defiled dungeon lol

Yeah, it was definitely one shot from any attack at that point.
The biggest issue was my damage output, even with an upgraded weapon I just couldn't do enough damage to end fights quickly so it was tough to survive this long without ever getting hit all while trying to maximize my damage output.
That Descendant guy though.... He might not look that bad in the video of the fight but trust me, that fight is just not fun at LVL 4. Easily, easily the worst part of the whole thing!
