This has reminded me. The picture you posted of all the different gestures, they have diagrams of the controller as if you can do them by shaking the controller a certain way. But I don't know how to do it as it never seems to work for me. Is there a button I need to press too or something.

You have to hold the X button while tilting the controller.

I made a rotten, fetid lower Loren chalice and had a ridiculously good time trying to pull the purple switch on the second layer. Rooms full of enemies, died multiple times, always got my echoes back, must have gained 1,000,000 while on this run. Going to make a long video montage of it. I'm level 144, 60/40/40/33/6/15, with a +10 saw cleaver, and it was still a serious challenge! This game is amazing!

1) I still don't fully understand chalice dungeons...if only root chalice dungeons are procedurally generated then why do the non-root dungeons allow you to upload them to share with other people?...I mean if it's the same for everyone what's the point?

2) when I wield a weapon such as Ludwig's Holy Blade, if I switch to the longer trick version of it does it maintain the same damage stats for R1 and R2 as the base weapon or does damage increase?...with the trick version you have to 2-hand it so I would think that damages increases

2) the weapon damage is always modified based on which form, for all weapons. The saw cleaver extended has much more reach but tends to do much less damage per second than the small version, for example.

I'm playing hard mode (carrying my sleeping 5 month old baby in a fabric sling carrier thing) so no jumping for me.

Haha... I was in this exact same situation with Dark Souls II last year.

Could be my build and my play style but I find L
oren
D
arkbeast
in a large arena by far the hardest boss.

He's pretty easy.
Can't remember if you dodge toward him to be on his left or right side, but he won't hit you, smack him once and repeat til dead.

Okay, fucked up Eileen's quest too.

Only beat the cb, FG, bsb and the witches.
But cleared the woods(coffin skip) and chainhurst.

What happens? I reached both locations but already went to NG+. Spoiler tag it please :D
She is the last member of Vilebloods alive and an enemy of the church. Alfred is on the other side, member of the church on a mission to kill all the Vilebloods. After you reach the queen, there are 'Unopened Summons' on the table on the right. Collect them and give them to Alfred who is near the entrance to Forbidden Woods. He will go to Cainhurst and kill the queen. Go there, talk to him and look at the dead queen. Examine her and take 'Queenly Flesh.' After that go to cathedral Ward and the first location where you met Alfred and there you'll find him dead. He completed his mission and killed himself. Collect his rune. Then, go to Altar of Despair and go to the end to the spider sculpture or something. Use Queenly flesh there and you will revive the queen.

There's something funny about bowing to the doll wearing her clothes :D Also went back to C
ainhurst
and found the Knight Set, Executioner Set, and enemies that reminded me all too well of DSI. I'm stuck though. Where do I go from here after you grab the Knight Set?

Instead of NG+ I'm contemplating starting a new character and focusing on either an Arcane build of some type or the bloodtinge Chikage/Evelyn.

Anyone have experience with either? Tips or advice? From what I understand Arcane is basically not worth messing with, which really sucks. What about the bloodtinge?

Do not make an Arcane build. Absolutely worthless. There's one decent spell in the game.

If you're like me, you probably missed the ladder that leads up from the room with all the blue ghosts and guy on the half stair. It's near the stairs that leads up to the second floor.

So, hardest boss?

E
breitas
?

M
artyr
L
ogarious
?

B
loodletting
B
east
?

Main game-wise, M
artyr
L
ogarius
out of those if you can't get a
backstab
on him between the two phases since he likes to hug walls and the roof edge.

E
breitas
hits hard and has a good amount of HP, but all the moves IMO are relatively easy to avoid. The worst part of the fight, again IMO, is the environment+camera.

Idk, so far P
aarl
and L
ogarius
were the toughest fights with the A.I. going berserk on me 90% of the time.

Edit: Chalice-wise, the Depth 3 R
om
and U
ndead
G
iant
(ball and chain ver) have been the worst. Still working on the former after 3-4 attempts.

Finished it!

After R
om
the game gave me no more troubles.
Thinking back the first level was probably the hardest for me.
I will buy the guide and replay for a perfect playthrough.

I cannot think of a single thing I didn't like. Mechanics and level and sound design are perfect.I love how detailed the world is. Every frame is a work of art.
And that bestiary will never be topped. NEVER!

...... Was fighting the Q
ueen
boss in final Chalice and game decides to kick me out of online. I come back expecting to be in fight with boss again, but nope. Fuck! Was outside boss gate. I enter and now have to do boss all over again. Fuck! Was close to winning too. Dammit.

This damn game needs to fix it stupid server issues.
My sympathies. This happened to me wayyyy back in the day in Demon's Souls, my first time playing, got to Tower Knight after dying a few times (I was so scrub back then xD fatrolling too). This time I had finally gotten it down, and got kicked out of PSN. I respawn outside the boss fog, boss is back at full health and all soldiers are back. I reluctantly retry, climb up the stairs to kill the soldier with my spear, hit r2, but the wonky hitbox makes me go through him and I whiff... then I eat the Tower Knight's magic beam and die.

I almost rage quit that game forever, right then. I remember being so mad. "Fuck this game, buggy piece of shit, how did this game get GotY on Gamespot? Fucking bullshit!". xD

(Came back to it a week later and it's my all-time favourite, haha.)

I find him much easier then some of the other bosses. Esp since he is easy enough to dodge. Still pretty hard, rank him in top 5 hard bosses for sure, took me like 30+ tries or so. But he was really only hard because your HP was so low. Once I got my Vit to 50, with like 825 HP after 10% HP rune, became more manageable.

I have no idea what you mean by this as I have fought it at least 65 times and there is no easy cheese melee method that I could discern. It runs away very quickly if you get positional advantage, and/or it does an explosion. It is vastly harder to stun than the non-chalice version.

Has anyone actually gotten the motion control gestures to work consistently? The only time I'm able to do them is accidentally after defeating an enemy sometimes.

Yeah. I'm just lucky the Q
ueen
boss is kinda easy and killed her in like 2 minutes on my next try. I would be so pissed if this was a Defiled Boss! :lol

I found the
first Hunter Gherman
to be the hardest boss in the game to solo. I just wasn't finding many openings to go in and do a lot of damage against him and I didn't find him very easy to parry.

I have lit the first lamp in Cain
hurst Castle
. Right at the start.
Im reading in Wiki that I shouldn't beat the boss cause I could never return to the place. Whats up with that? Am I safe?

Don't not what your reading but that is bullshit.

Defiled W
atchdog of the Old Lords
down. Holy fucking shit, this last trophy sure is testing my limits.

Yeah I know
Amygdala
is harder. Shut up. I'll try her tomorrow.

That's untrue.

This is what I have found:

1. Warning DO NOT kill Logarius if you haven't lit the initial lamp: There is no way to return to the cainhurst lamp from Logarius's seat, so your character can never explore the level again. If you do not light the Logarius' Seat lamp after killing Logarius (and jump off of the roof to return to the initial lamp), you will respawn in Hemwick and permanently lose all access to BOTH cainhurst AND the vileblood castle.

2.The Hemwick monument will not resummon the horses if you die in combat after the horse cutscene has triggered. This means that you will never be able to access the castle in your game even if you have the procured the cainhurst summons.
