After
Rom
, you should have been teleported to
the entrance to Unseen Village
.

You need to defeat the W
itch
in H
emwick Charnal Lane
to get the Workshop tool needed to equip Runes. You can have 4 equipped, but the 4th slot is for Covenant Runes, which are unlocked by doing NPC side quests.

If you put a gem that adds +X% Arcane ATK on your Saw Cleaver, then it now does Arcane Damage and not Physical. Your Strength and Skill will no longer affect the damage of the Cleaver, only your Arcane stat will. You can put this kind of gem on any weapon for the same effect.
thanks man. so its better not equip arcane and bolt gems if my arcane and bolt stats are shitty right?

Can't remember exactly, but all you do is dodge toward him to be on his side opposite of the arm he attacks. I think he always starts with is right, so facing him, toward and right side. If not, do the reverse. Hit once, dodge out and repeat until dead. Without long range, that's going to be your strategy for many of the bosses coming up.

If you still need help, I can login with my lvl75.

I found out a way to make Abhorrent beast be the easiest boss in the game.
Poison Knives
, I just recorded myself kill him.

After atleast 4 hours combined total of bullshit undodgeable combo's and frustrating camera death's, i have finally slain ebi at level 4.
Now do i kill m
oon presence
or do the chalice dungeons......I fear a certain boss at this level....
Abhorrent Beast

is easy to dodge. But 1 false move can easily kill you. But if you get your Vit to 50 and use a +10% HP it becomes more manageable.

I think you got confused with Blood Gems; the gem slots on a weapon have different shapes (radial, triangle, waning), and Lost/Uncanny versions of weapons have different types of gem slots (triangle replaced with waning or vice versa). With Runes, you can equip any Rune into any slot, except for the fourth slot, which is the Covenant only slot.
Yeah. You are right. For a minute, my brain wasn't working correctly regarding gems vs runes, but I did get the 4th slot correct.

Any tips for shadow of yharnam?
Imo by far the toughest souls fight.
By far.
Focus on fire thrower. Parry katana guy every time he tries to get you. Once you hit second phase, do not try to hide behind the tombstone, they can hit you through it. Once you kill katana guy, focus on candle man. Idk if this works every time but literally hit him once, let him dodge, hit him once, let him dodge, and try to trap him in that animation. Eventually he will die and not progress to the pain in the ass that is phase 3

Hardest fight for me thus far as well. Maybe having completed it it'd be super easy next time but jeez, I was stuck on it for days (others found it to be a joke as well, so its different for everyone of course)

I love this game but you'd think that since Bloodborne is not only a FROM SOFTWARE game but is a collaboration with Sony's Japan Studio (not to mention a high profile PS4 release) it would be a priority to get this patched. Now, I do understand that a major patch dealing with loading, performance and online issues needs time. Still, it's been 3 weeks since release.

Yeah, Arcane seems to be kinda weak in this game. You get tons more attack by putting points into Strength or Skill, or a combination of both (for weapons that scale well with both stats, like Ludwig's Holy Blade). And if you look at the scaling for each weapon, you'll notice that most of them have (a low) scaling with Arcane. That scaling only takes effect when you slot in an Arcane/Fire/Bolt gem onto your weapon. Surprisingly, Ludwig's Holy Blade has great scaling with Arcane, after a couple upgrades. But unless you were making an Arcane build from the start, it is probably better to ignore that stat.

What you can do, and what I did, is buy a second Cleaver/Axe/whatever and put your Arcane/Fire/Bolt gems onto that. Now you can have a normal weapon and an elemental weapon (that will probably do less damage). Some enemies are very resistant to physical but are weak to Arcane/Fire/Bolt, namely the
blob things
and
scorpions
in Chalice Dungeons.

I love how DSP tried the 2nd defiled boss once, then gave up and said he would have to grind for several more hours to even attempt it. I actually didnt even find that boss to be THAT hard once u get the basic pattern down. I thought the first boss in that place was overall much harder...but then again, he did cheese the first boss. He is already extremely overleveled to begin with.

I'm pretty sure he uses a walkthrough, lol.

"I'm dodging, I'm dodging! Can't dodge!"

"See? Can't dodge!" *holds controller in front of the cam*

Hmm, I did the opposite of what you did.
I focused on katana guy first. A couple of parries and viscerals and he was down. I saved fire thrower for last.
Beat that fight first try, but like you said, everyone has different bosses that they find easy.

Does it work on his next version? Pretty sure, I tried and it didn't seem to work so I just use the same strategy posted again.

Do you mean on his rage mode or the other battle in different chalice? I haven't got to the other chalice where you fight him again on this character, but if you mean when he's in rage mode poison worked for me.

Yeah I agree.

I had my troubles with
that dog
, BUT I will say after you get its move set down and get a strategy in place...it is a battle. Very intense!

Probably my favorite boss battle of the game.

A harder version in a later chalice.

I'm at the first one, the mix of terrible performance, halved HP and cheap attacks is making me want to quit the game for the first time in 4 games.

The whole level was amazing and beautiful. Stunning art style.

Fuck those
blood filled spider things in the beginning
tho.

Anyone have any suggestions of which weapon is awesome at +10? I have Ludwig at +10, and found my new blood rock, but I don't really know which one to choose. My first choice would be the burial blade. But are there other good options? I love the Blade of Mercy because of it's speed, but the damage isn't that good. (+9 now)

Started a new run. Arcane/Bloodtinge build. Fire bloodgem on my saw cleaver, 25 arcane, putting some echos into Bloodtinge now.

Character already seems overpowered, either that, or I'm just getting better.

Rifle Spear is AWESOME. The two handed R2 fully charged attack has stupid reach and pretty good damage, and you can use it as a fire weapon. With one hand, you can poke all day every day.

It's fast, it does good damage, it shoots and has great reach. I used it on my videos due to the versatility. Probably my favorite weapon.

Better, no. More difficult, yes.

That's an interesting way to use Shining Coins. I just helped a guy beat BSB in their NG+ and after we won, he tosses me a coin and claps.

I haven't gotten to the Defiled dungeon yet but I'm enjoying my time with the Chalice dungeons so far. But then again, I don't think I was expecting great level design prior to release anyways. It was always more for combat for me.

I'm messing around with my new character (using Kirkhammer at level 18) and just helping people beat Cleric Beast and Father G. Last fight I got summoned, along with another player and Father G. 4 against the Cleric Beast; fight was over before it started, lol.

I did some co-op to help people against Gascoigne the other day. And man, it's so easy it's unfair. Poor Gascoigne, lol.

Chalice dungeons feel like homework. Not sure if I want to do all of them.

The further down you go, the cheaper they feel, instead of being a genuine challenge. I thought the
Nightmare Mensis
area felt the same as well.

I dunno. Maybe I've been playing this game too long without a break to play something else!

I just really love the boss encounters.

Same. The dungeons are pretty much solely about boss encounters for me. They were sold as "randomized" content to me and that immediately made me dismiss them on level design terms.

Dying to a pig as a boss sucked though. Totally caught me off guard... cause he was just a pig.

Hahaha same thing happened to me.

A big one though

The
Shadows
on NG+ were killing me, I thought I had met my match. Did get them in the end I was being way to cautious and needed to smash them a bit more lol. I was so close to calling it, draining game.

I took the hunter's axe to +10 with my first character. No regrets, spin2win!

There are certainly some areas when I feel like it is cheap. One that immediately comes to mind is the BS sickle throw
pthumerian descendant
does that goes through pillars and floors...melee attacks going through is fine, I've come to peace with that, not as though the player can't do that too, but throws going through solid objects is too much BS, rage inducing really. Especially considering when he does it he can be obstructed by objects, so not only is the throw going through solid objects, you're probably at an even greater disadvantage as he is obstructed and you might not be able to react properly.

Throw in a curse and that can be a one shot :(

EDIT: I'm not bitter or anything...yes I am.
