Thanks, both of you! I didn't know the game had "hit part for maximum damage" in it. How did you guys figure this out?
A lot of the bosses seem to have a weak spot, particularly the larger ones. Conversely, many of them also have heavily armored areas like
Rom's head
. You can figure it out just by paying attention to how much damage your attacks do.

Just beat the the Shadow of Yarnham. Where is the best place to go next where I am leveled enough to do? I am level 54 and I have the option to:

1. Continue from the Forbidden Woods Graveyard and head down the steps.

2. Go to Cathedral Ward and use the stone I received to open up the door where the frenzy gets you. (I think the stone opens up that door, I'm not even sure.) I received it from someones door in the Forbidden Forest.

or

3. Go back to Unseen Village and take on the Dark Paarl (sp?) Beast?

Can i get the same the 1/3 umbilical cord from the same person if i keep playing through new game +?

Do they stack?

if you got one from a person, such as
iosafka or the whore
, you already got 1 of 2 missable cords, you get another from a boss, and a 3rd you can find (not missable)

I guess one way of looking at it is that Dark Souls emphasises the RPG elements, whereas Bloodborne emphasises the action aspect of the 'action-RPG' genre that the Souls games are often referred to as..

I think my main problem with this is that Bloodborne, at least where I am (still early--just unlocked Hemwick Charnel Lane and the Forbidden Woods), is that I'm having trouble envisioning a second playthrough where my play style is very different at all. I've put in well over 10 hours at this point, and in the Souls games, I would have a bunch of different builds/options in my head by now, but I'm drawing a blank with BB. Sure, I could use a different weapon, but doing so isn't going to change how I approach encounters all that much. I hope I'm wrong, but it just seems like there's a lack of variety and options that the previous games had.

Also, the game feels a lot more "lonely" than previous entries. No idea why they changed the co-op system to this new form... it feels completely dead.

you're at a high enough level to do any of the 3, but paarl is probably the easiest

1 is where to go next main story wise. be sure to finish npc sending quests before the next area boss if you don't want to miss..3 is probably a good idea to do next...

i am using a different weapon for my second playthrough (ludwig's, mostly 2 handed) and it is completely different in approach from my first playthrough (almost entirely saw cleaver)

I've kind of done that on my current single playthrough. I used mostly the Saw Cleaver for probably 2/3rds of the game. Only using Ludwig's for bigger enemies (other than some bosses where I preferred the cleaver). But for the last third of the game, and a few chalice dungeons, I've mostly stuck with 2 handed Ludwig's.

A couple of notable exceptions are I used the cane for P
aarl
as I found it's spread made it much easier to hit the legs, and I used the 1-hand form of Ludwig's for G
herman
since you need to parry and the speed/reach is better than the Cleaver, which is helpful for getting in extra hits and for the last stage where you can't parry anymore.

The frenzy-inducing monsters on the bridge in n
ightmare of mensis
are a massive pain in the ass. So glad I'm done with that bit.

Yay! I beat Y
harnam, Phtumerian Queen
. Now just one more trophy to go...
Childhood's Beginning
(third ending).

What's funny is that I almost beat her my first try, and then I started having some trouble with her for a while until I got back into the groove the next day. My previous attempt, I almost beat her (1 hit off) and then I finally beat her without making the same mistake that I did that last time.

I know what you mean, but I think that applies to all of the other Souls games too. I think they all tail off towards the end, and I put this down to familiarity with the techniques that the designers use to keep you on your toes.

Also, I can't say this for definite with Bloodborne as I'm nearly but not-quite-done yet, all of the Souls games become much easier and less intimidating by the time you reach the end. Again, this is partly due to the player getting wise to the techniques the game uses to thwart you, the player "gitting gud", and the player character becoming much more powerful.

My opinion on the game so far is that it is easily the best game I have played this year, and probably my second favourite Souls game. Dark Souls still reigns supreme for me. The NPCs in Bloodborne aren't particularly interesting, and although the world is consistent and feel more real than Dark Souls, it lacks the variety.

Combat-wise, Bloodborne is my favourite of the Souls games though. I love it. The health regain mechanic is genius and teaches you not to fear getting hit, which is the exact opposite of how to play Dark Souls. I also love the trick weapons and think I prefer them to having swathes of useless weapons clogging up my inventory.

Armour is a bit disappointing though. I haven't really needed to change from the hunter's garb much, except for specific boss fights, and there isn't a great deal of stat difference between the armour sets I have found so far.

Finally, the main thing which keeps Bloodborne below Dark Souls in my opinion is that there seems to be very little about the game which encourages me to play through it again any time soon. As fun as it is, and it really is, it is also just frustrating enough for me to want a little break from it once I'm done. It doesn't seem like a second play-through will show me anything new, and trying again with different weapons doesn't really offer a huge amount of variety. The Souls games each play very differently depending on your character build, whereas Bloodborne feels like it will be a very similar experience no matter what weapons I use. I understand why, and think the combat is much more exciting for this change, but role-playing suffers as a consequence.

That's true for me as well. I think BB will be the first Souls game I don't take into NG+ or start over again.

Doing defiled chalice, that shit is getting super boring TBH.

Yeah, I just ran through that part, I hate frenzy.

Edit: lol, just got killed by a slowdown during a boss fight. I swear, the chalices are where the game starts breaking at the seams.

Any tips for shadow of yharnam?
Imo by far the toughest souls fight.
By far.

I ended up summoning someone. I really hate souls bosses where there is more than 1 guy. Especially when there are 3. I feel like there are a lot more bullshit deaths because it is impossible to see what all 3 are doing most of the time and land an attack without being hit.

Time for my "waifu" run! Skill/Bloodtinge all the way, this time.

By far.

I've uploaded all main game boss battles and provide the character's level, weapon, how many upgrades were made and the strategy.

Here's the little guide I made for the Shadow of Yharnam:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2wRQcrHZec

Don't kill one at a time as, once one of them is dead, the other two will become way stronger and have new moves. Drain their life equaly, so, once they get stronger, you'll be able to kill them quickly.

Do not, I repeat, do not stop moving during this fight. You be handling one of them constantly casting fire balls at you, other one alway rushing in your direction and one that will stay mid range, for the most part.

Once they transform, the two melee enemies will have a new vertical attacks where their arms stretch, and those attack will go through walls, tombstones and whatever causing massive damage.

Once one of them is dead, they'll be able to summon giant snakes that can do masive damage. So atack them if you can to stop the summoning, if you can't, run and roll until the snakes are gone.

After
Rom
, you should have been teleported to
the entrance to Unseen Village
.

You need to defeat the W
itch
in H
emwick Charnal Lane
to get the Workshop tool needed to equip Runes. You can have 4 equipped, but the 4th slot is for Covenant Runes, which are unlocked by doing NPC side quests.

If you put a gem that adds +X% Arcane ATK on your Saw Cleaver, then it now does Arcane Damage and not Physical. Your Strength and Skill will no longer affect the damage of the Cleaver, only your Arcane stat will. You can put this kind of gem on any weapon for the same effect.

After you kill Rom, the teleports you to a circular room. Just run down the pathway to the Unseen Village to continue the story.

4 runs slot. First 3, what one you can use is based on the rune's shape. Last one is for covenant runs.

Each weapon was different weapon scaling based on stats. Lvled your the star with better lettering.

I love how DSP tried the 2nd defiled boss once, then gave up and said he would have to grind for several more hours to even attempt it. I actually didnt even find that boss to be THAT hard once u get the basic pattern down. I thought the first boss in that place was overall much harder...but then again, he did cheese the first boss. He is already extremely overleveled to begin with.

I think you got confused with Blood Gems; the gem slots on a weapon have different shapes (radial, triangle, waning), and Lost/Uncanny versions of weapons have different types of gem slots (triangle replaced with waning or vice versa). With Runes, you can equip any Rune into any slot, except for the fourth slot, which is the Covenant only slot.
