GTA V PC Performance Thread

It's good to know 970/980/Titan/TitanX's run this game good, but I want to see some mid tier benchmarks, I've got a 7850 2GB, 8GB RAM, and an i5-2500k @4.2GHZ, I'll let you duders know how it runs for me.

game starts by dropping you into the open world really fast right?

it'd be funny if we're all reading impressions of like 2 character models inside a room

I have the disk-version, so I just ran setup.exe from the first disk. On steam I guess you could probably do verify game files to get the same result.

Not steam version, digital directly from rockstar.
Repaired installation, still nothing happens. The dream is dead. No error messages, the whole process just disappears after the comic panel cover thingy window.

970 am cry.
970 very am cry indeed.

Literally just dropped 1,300 USD on a new gaming pc. been out of the pc scene since 2010 when my previous 1,400$ rig died. I learned never to cheap out on a PSU the hard way(PSU committed triple homicide on my GPU, motherboard,Cpu and then suicide)

But the gtx 980 is so hard to justify buying with the 970 on the market.

Sigh, cross my fingers for dx12 implementation (stacked vram) and sli 970 or something.

So I got it working after downloading the patch a few times.

At standard settings (which seem to be med-high) and 1440p with a gtx980 and i2500k, I got between 70-100 fps in the opening sequence. The cinematic afterwards ran at a solid 75. This is without MSAA though. I'll have to try more things tomorrow, but I'm tempted to just leave the settings alone since everything seems to play nice and look ok at a constant 60+ rate, and that's all I really want.

So far performance is rock solid but I'm using Vsync on my TV right now. 60 fps isn't a problem at 1080p but I have SLI 970s and a 5820 @ 4.3 Ghz. I'm hoping the benchmark works if I complete the first mission first and make a save. Then I'll give it a test with vsync of and see what I get. Definitely runs much better than GTA IV so far.

for those saying max settings, you have moved the sliders all the way to the right? if your getting 60fps + at 1440p then this is a very good port..

So far, I've made it to the end of the first
driving with Franklin
section, and the benchmarking tool still attempts to load the single-player game first, cause the mission to fail. Boo.

I'm in the city now in the first mission but it's still tutorial, so I can't make a save and it's leading me around on a tight leash. As soon as I have some freedom, I'll let you know what's up. Still having no problem achieving 60fps, I'll turn off vsync once I get through these early tutorial missions.

This is what I'm running on the 970 at 1080p

I remember when I got this 680 years ago

I remember standing there choosing over the 2gb or 4gb model, knowing I could use the extra money I saved with 2gb for other stuff

I remember thinking; im gonna regret this one day

this is that day

It seems I can run the game well w/ 3 Titans @ 4k/60Hz with all the features on high as long as I leave the advanced features off. That really screws up my framerate. I have a i7-3770k@4.4GHz. I'm also having trouble running @ fullscreen for some reason. It says I have approx 18000Mb VRAM available. I can jack everything up to high and still have some memory left over to spare.

We really need to run down exactly what all the settings do.

Jesus, sounds like performance is way better than I expected.

I forgot to preload this, so it's going to be a long download tonight, but I'm busy with Bloodborne anyway.

Keep us updated, I just installed the new AMD drivers and did a reboot. Game still crashes on launch.

Will do.

Is anybody having issues running this with Precison X? I mean I can't even get the game to launch...but even on the menu screens it refuses to do anything so long as Precision X is running.

Don't use MSAA man.

I'm using MSI AB overlay and it's fine.

i7-4790K @4,2GHz, 1x ASUS GTX970 STRIX and 8 GB of 1333MHz RAM. Should I be able to hold constant 60fps on max, with MSAA either on low or off?

Hmm.. My game keeps crashing. I have nothing else of note running. First crashed after inital guy left the psychiatrist. Second time it got past that and crashed while I was driving after boosting the first car. :/

Almost seems like a conflict or something.

i5 2500k
970 - latest drivers
8 gigs RAM
Win 8.1

I guess I'll try doing a clean install of the graphics card drivers or something.

Until the crashes, performance was great. 80-120fps. Looks like almost everything maxed except for no MSAA.

Yup, it plays like a dream so far (1080P 60FPS with a bunch of settings at high and very high, FXAA and no MSAA), though I have to set textures to normal to keep under the VRAM limit. Might set it to high to see what performance is like.

How is general IQ with FXAA?

680, which is similar, and that sounds about what I expected

specially the textures part. You could try High but if it straight up surpasses your VRAM limit expect to get a slideshow
