is among the ranks of biggest pushovers in this game. Took more damage being overly cautious than I probably would have if I was more gung-ho from the start.

Oddly enough M
icolash
became one of the few regular bosses that could kill me in ng+ and above. The magic spell where he shoots stuff in different directions can oneshot you even with 50+ vit if you get hit by more than 1 beam at the same time. He tends to spam that move multiple times in a row, so chances are you'll get hit at some point.

Arrrrrgh. Rom the vacuous spider, why can’t I kill him!

Also, I think every tip on how to beat bosses in this game should include "Use Beast Blood Pellets". Really, they are that good.

Arrrrrgh. Rom the vacuous spider, why can’t I kill him! Driving me mental. And the bigger issue is those spiders and his annoying blue crystal attacks hit so hard they wipe off a load of health meaning I have to use at least 3-4 blood vials per fight which means I’m burning through my stocks super fast. I had 91 in storage when I first got to Rom, ended up with 18 which means I had to go and farm some echoes to buy more – for the first time ever.

Its another boss fight that on the face of it, seems fairly easy, but there is almost zero room for error. I just can’t get him down. I can get him to around a quarter health and then I die.

I’m using a +6 Tonitrus or a +6 Axe depending how I feel, I’m ignoring the spiders and rolling in to whack him and then away but I just get spammed by something every time, usually when I’m starting to think its going well.

Tried summoning help a few times but no one was found, so I’ve been bouncing off it alone.

Maybe I ought to go and have another crack at Paarl instead, come back to Rom another time? Maybe I’ll just go off and run around some areas I’ve already cleared for echoes and level up, then come back later.
Good advice from the others. I'll add: keep your lock on focused on Rom and keep circling and taking out his spiders. This way you'll be warned when he's going to unleash his attacks, giving you time to dodge.

I cleared him first go with a bolt Ludwig's Blade with this method, going for rear charge attacks after clearing out each wave of spiders.

Take your time. Kill his helpers and if he uses his ranged blue attack just stand still and maintain one point of view. They will never hit you.

And use your tonitrus, it's very effective against him and his helpers.

I hate those damn dogs with the red eyes more than any other creature in this game.
Red spiders are literally worse than Hitler.
Add the brainsuckers and the shrieking black metal guys, and I think you have the most awful horrible enemies in the game. :)

The latter are even worse when combined with the spiders, UGH.

Apparently the Hand Lantern
mega-gimps your stamina recovery. Like, 20% or higher gimping.

http://www.reddit.com/r/bloodborne/comments/32kist/psa_hand_lantern_reduces_your_stamina/

Just tested it, it's totally true.
I thought the crappy amount of light compared to the torch was the tradeoff but I guess Miyazaki felt differently.
HOLY FUCK I USED HAND LANTERN LIKE 90% OF THE GAME
Same. Goddamn! I kept turning it on every time I died. It was hotkeyed to my personal effects. Will not be doing that anymore...

Cathedral Ward spoiler
I never noticed the messangers grabbing the lever for the main gate, that's interesting
Yeah I noticed them and wondered WTF that was all about...

lol, great stuff.

she disappeard in my game.
I talked to her outside Oedon Chapel.
then sometime later she was gone.
nothing going on in the tomb.
will she be in the grand cathedral?
She was at the Grand Cathedral for me, but she was hostile. She never showed up at Oedon Tomb despite the lamp not working. My game glitched, I think.
I have now.

when she disappeared I only had killed CB, FG and BSB.
but I went to the forrest and chainhurst using the coffin skip.

I think going to the forrest triggers her leaving Odeon Chapel and you will miss her fighting the other hunter in the tomb.
OMG you might be right... I didn't use the skip, but I did kill Amelia and head to the Forbidden Woods, got the clinic shortcut etc. Before deciding to go to Oedon tomb when she didn't show up. I guess that's what breaks the sequence. 100% sure it's not intended though because the lamp still wasn't working so it's not like the quest had decided to "expire" or anything.

Goddammit. Well, in NG++
I got her to show up at Oedon, so I'm on track. Just gotta kill Rom and I'll finally see what this chikage hunter is all about
... :P

Someone said that hunter enemies don't scale with playthroughs. I still would like a confirmation of that. I think it might just apply to unnamed hunters. The trio in Unseen Village was surprisingly easy in NG+, I thought... but
Eileen at the cathedral, and Henryk now in NG++
, hit like goddamn trucks, no way they'd hit this hard in NG I think...

Wow thats wierd. Oddly enough, I got invaded 3 or 4 times in the nightmare mensis, right after the 2nd lamp. I never ever get invaded usually so that was surprising but I ended up owning all but 1 of them. They really didnt seem to know how to counter the blade of mercy, so I rekt them pretty easily, and the 1 guy who killed me had a Chikage and got me while I was fighting the 2 eyeball pigs :/
While playing through the main game, I used Blades of Mercy, and won against every invader I fought, so I made a new pure skill build character and played a lot of PvP, people really don't know how to deal with BoM. Played level 70 PvP in Nightmare Frontier for two days, I've never lost a single fight the first day lol. Got matched with some really good players the next day, I was losing once or twice in about every ten or so encounter.

It seems to me, the hunters hit harder but still have the same HP as in NG.

One thing I've never liked in these series is allowing invaders to heal. I've been helping people now at unseen village and the same invaders run to the point cthulu fires his fucking hyper beam and just wait surrounded by enemies. And when you do whoop them they run to more enemies and heal. So dull.

Ok, so I just went back to Cathedral Ward and entered the cathedral because for some reason I couldn't fast travel there. It turns out there's a Hunter there who's a pain in the ass. After getting slaughtered once, I decided to just run in, grab my blood echoes and scarper. Once I'd grabbed them and ran to the door, I turned for one last look to see if he'd followed me. He was walking away with his health slowly depleting. So I just stood there and watched him die! Easiest fight in the game LOL

Has that happened to anyone else?

After coming across that myself recently and looking into it, you'd probably be more hard-pressed to find someone it hasn't happened for as it looks to be a reliable exploit to the fight.

Wish I could go back and see the whole fight through, but that can wait for NG+ I suppose.

What exactly happens? Any idea?

Whelp, thanks to a botched backup/restore operation while changing my hard drive, I lost my Bloodborne save. Cloud storage was full and I didn't realize, so it didn't back up there, and I had USB saves of games up until this past Feb but, after that, I had nothing backed up.

Think I'll wait until the performance improvement patch hits and start again.

Fighting the chalice
version of rom and the Spiders are giving me more grief than the boss itself, ugh. 1 shot from their jump attack and i'm dead. What's worse, is the time it takes to kill all of them. I always seem to die to the third wave of adds.

I know, right? Invaders should agro enemies as well (and enemies should only follow them once they are agroed by the invader). This has been used by shitty invaders since the dawn of times.

I would just ignore the rest. The close quarters make it too difficult to be dealing with them when
Rom
is likely raining pain you can't really get away from. It's odd, since you have to balance trying to kill him as fast as possible as you can't deal with too many of his attacks, yet you also have to practice some patience in only putting a hit or two and immediately disengaging before the mob slaughters you.

Edit: I don't have a problem with invaders being able to heal. I mean, they are already getting a health penalty already are they not?

But I agree that they should be subject to enemy aggro, due to such shitty behavior.

Edit 2: Sort of want the heavy spoiler tag use to drop in the next OT. At least for things like names and maybe tactics, while still maybe 'protecting' the secret stuff. All the newer folks are using the newcomer thread as an alternative OT for some odd reason, and we'll be getting the community boot in a couple of weeks.

So as I mentioned, after playing the vast majority of the game absolutely blind, I decided to check for any 'missables' because in previous souls games that could easily cost you an extra playthrough.

So i spent tonight doing optional cleanup stuff... does anyone know if i'm missing anything?

killed the alien, Ebrietas and Logarius (i've already killed amygdala, BSB, paarl)

got crow badge from killing eileen in the cathedral despite missing her quest, wore the crown and did the vile stuff, and completed the arthur quest

That only leaves the umbilical cords as missable, right?

if i understand correctly, i need 3 of 4. i definitely missed one in the clinic, as i killed her at the wrong time. i got the one from the workshop. i (thankfully) did the whore's quest right, though i need to kill some boss to finish it. and the other seems like it's further along and not missable.

The last story related thing i did was kill the One Reborn... so... does it seem like i did all cleanup? i just need to push forward to the next umbilical now, right?

but in this one you get pillars to block the magic?!!

Heh. Got rom on my next attempt. It goes apeshit at 1/10 or so health left. Thought i was gonna die lol.

Okay, so in an effort to make sure I don't miss any content (and because I fucking hate
spiders
), I've been clearing as much content as possible before heading to B
yrgenwerth
.

So far I've:

1.)
Encountered every civilian and sent them to places.
2.)
Cleared Hemwick and killed the Witches.
3.)
Cleared Nightmare Frontier and killed Amadylgia.
4.)
Cleared Cainhurst Castle, but still need to defeat Martyr Logarius as he's a bastard.
5.)
Cleared Depth 1 & 2 of the Phtumeran Chalice.

Aside from the Chalice Dungeons, is there anything else to add to the checklist or am I now done and have to go face my fear?

Not my prettiest effort for a boss fight since I was too busy baiting him to do movesets, but I have the recent Micolash fight up.

I can't help but laugh when fighting him since his thrashing reminds me of Magicarp.

And then he hits me.

Did you clear H
yporean
G
aol
and defeat P
aarl
? Otherwise I think you've done it all.

Have you been to
forbidden wood, Hypogean Gaol, Lecture Building or Nightmare Frontier
?

Yes to all the above questions. I'll give ML another couple of attempts and head onwards then.

How about the secret area just behind the four dogs in cages in the forbidden woods? run through the poisoned water and to the back. There's a ladder there that leads to the clinic

Id just rather them not be able to heal. Its bullshit how they invade with 20 BV's and you're through a level already down and they can out sustain simply by having more vials.

Eh, they should wait for that if we're going to point it out to them.

That's probably too harsh of a penalty, as then you have the opposite problem of the host being able to tank through.

Been there. Screwed up getting the
True Ending by killing spoon-headed Arianna by accident before killing Rom.

That does seem pretty harsh. I wonder if they could do something like automatically set the number of blood vials usable by the invader to the current amount the host is carrying.

Yahar'gul Chapel or Upper Cathedral are too hard

Upper Cathedral
is annoying because of possibility losing bunch of insight.
Yahar'gul Chapel
was okay IMO. Just decided to run through everything.

Well they already have advantage to hide behind enemies. Also they can already use Choir Bell and
Iosefkas Blood Vial
to heal.

Can anyone help me with the fucking amygdala in the dungeon?
I am at suicide stage now :(

LVL 109

I don't know the exact layout of the Dungeon encounter, but in the NF fight; getting behind it causes it to leap and it always lands facing away from you. You can then do minimal but 99% safe damage to the tail/back-legs over and over by repeating the process.

Really? All this time I've been sprinting into him and attacking him. At least I don't have to worry much about the flail my way.

I did it by standing still and those things never hit me. If you keep your distance and pick off his spider bros he's not that hard. Just watch his other attacks and don't be greedy.

ok, i have a question. im realtively to the end of my first playthrough.
im at the NoN and have done everything else i could do up to this point.
so its really only NoN Area, MWN and Final Boss.
Now i want to be leveled up to do CDs. Would it be wiser to grind levels before or after i beat the campaign? Will i level up quicker in NG End Game or NG+ beginning?

I can't kill himust alone I need friends

You can make life very easy by doing the following:
1:Get behind the boss and hit the back of one of the legs every now and again until the boss jumps. DO NOT MOVE WHEN THE BOSS JUMPS
2: As soon as the boss jumps turn your character around 180 and ready a charge attack asap, this should hit the head of the boss when it lands.
3: Get back behind the boss asap once the charge attack hits and repeat until last phase
4: In the last phase stand behind the boss all the time and just attack the back of its legs. The boss will jump all the time but it will only jump forward in the direction it is currently facing, This part of the fight might take little bit of time but you can speed it up alot by saving 2 buffed cannon shots for this part.

Other thing to make sure of is to have enough HP to not get 1 shot by a foot stomp as you will most likely get hit by one or two.

First stages: circle at safe distance and attack the hands when she/he does the smash attack and the hands stay on the ground for a few seconds

Last stage: stick underneath or behind and wack the tail. Doesn't do much damage but it's pretty safe there apart from the occasional and easy to avoid foot stump.

Finished the game yesterday, but i feel like i missed so much and i haven't even started the Chalice Dungeon yet so i will go into NG+, which i usually never do.
For me, Cleric Beast was the hardest boss. Felt like "You have to beat me if you want to start playin' Bloodborne", after that i got better and learned. Amazing game.

It's not working for me. He has long arms. He can kill me with one hit even when I am behind him

I don't even want to imagine how unfair that fight would be in new game plus. Even the ordinary fight mostly seems like a grief against hardcore players that they added last minute. "Think you have parrying down? Well, here is a wide open area and a psychopath equipped with a railgun. Deal with the situation! (PS his melee combo one shots you, so have fun with that as well)"

I could be wrong but I think NPC Hunters don't actually scale with NG+?
