Whats up with that spider on his head?
Also the "Chewie we're home line" felt really cheesy like some SNL skit.
Loved it for the most part. I dislike the fast zoom into the action thats used once which hopefully there isn't going to be too much of. Also the "Chewie we're home line" felt really cheesy like some SNL skit.
BB-8 is fucking real and not CGI?!? Mind blown to smithereens.
So glad a poster above decided to respond to spoiler tags with a big fuckoff unsubtle picture. Love me some spoilers.
There's a difference between cheesy but endearing and cheesy pandering. I don't hate the line though. It is Star Wars, cheesy dialogue is to be expected. IMO.
Watching the panel now, and MY GOD, BB-8 must be the cutest thing ever! I loved that they brought him on stage!

This is so heartwarming.
Holeeey shit, that thing is nice and works pretty well. Disney is going to roll in cash when the merchandise stuff hits retail.
Especially if they somehow manage to release a remote controlled version of BB-8.
Why does his head tilt down as he moves, while in the first teaser that doesn't happen?

That's my thought. Someone has had the falcon for a while; maybe Poe? Haha, only other pilot we know of so far.I'm curious what the context of the "Chewie... we're home." line comes from. It seems as if Han has been separated from the Falcon for some time, judging by how somber the line is delivered. Chewie also has his crossbow raised, which makes me wonder if the Falcon is being commandeered.

I'm guessing the "running" one is CG.

Holy shit, this thing is real??
Watch the panel. Not only is it real, it's fucking adorable.

My guess is that it's a mix of CG and not in the movie. The actual BB 8 may not be able to move that fast.

Pretty sure they can rig it with wires/puppeteer string and do that.

Loved it for the most part. I dislike the fast zoom effect I spotted near the end hopefully there isn't going to be too much used for the flight battles.

Well the books that came after ROTJ went into Han living the high profile hero life with Leia and never being able to fly the Falcon. Might be a similar deal here. That's just a guess.
It's amazing that it is real, absolute respect to the puppeteering team, but I thought it had to be CG because its surface has such a matte finish. It looks a bit flimsy compared to R2, to be honest. But again, amazing job in creating it, and props to JJ for not pulling a Lucas and making it CG. I'm really curious how the head free-spins like that on its ball-body.
If they do that, AND it's less than $50....
Dear JESUS.

Probably a lot more difficult to operate live, and in Teaser 1 it looks like he has a lot of momentum to keep him up. BB-8 makes me very excited. I'd love it if they used more practical effects like in the original trilogy for the space battles and stuff.
i know that harrison ford is old
but damn he looks old
*purchases hamster ball and Raspberry pi just laying around*
I would need a bunch of other equipment; but I think, given time and ingenuity, $300 might be realistic. Fans will/probably have replicated BB8 to a degree already.
Could also be different props, close up and action shots.
Watch the panel. Not only is it real, it's fucking adorable.

Also How does BB8 even work?? Im betting a downsized version is going to be the hot new Toy for Christmas...
